Definitions
- This invention generally relates to cigarette paper and cigarette paper dispensing package for users who roll their own cigarettes.
- This invention particularly relates to a cigarette paper dispensing package having an improved access to cigarette paper contained therein and also an improved cigarette paper in terms of usability and composition for users who roll their own cigarettes.
- Cigarette papers are generally packaged in an envelope-type package (i.e., horizontally oriented). See, e.g., U.S. Pat. No. 7,159,717 to Aldridge et al., specifically FIGS. 1-12. They are horizontally oriented and one such disadvantage is that a user may have difficulty grasping a single cigarette paper and instead typically grasp too many cigarette papers when all that is needed is a single cigarette paper for the purpose of rolling one's own cigarette.
- cigarette papers typically tear easily. Adhesive for cigarette papers is often applied on one side of the cigarette paper along an edge. See, e.g., U.S. Pat. No. 6,164,443 to Mitchell et al., col. 1 lines 62-64 and col. 4 lines 3-5.
- the cigarette paper, adhesive, and the like oftentimes have chemicals which potentially may cause the user adverse effects such as the experience of a bad taste and other adverse physical reactions. See, e.g., U.S. Pat. No. 6,164,443 to Mitchell et al., col. 4 lines 52-57.
- the adhesive sometimes weakens the cigarette paper when applied thereto, increasing the chances of an inadvertent tear in the cigarette paper when the user attempts to seal the paper containing the rolled contents with the adhesive.
- This is yet another limitation to adhesive application on cigarette paper as opposed to a self-adhering alternative.
- the mouthpiece filter helps prevent tobacco from escaping the cigarette and regulate air flow at the cigarette's base.
- these mouthpiece filters have not been traditionally included as an integral part of the cigarette paper package and the user must purchase or otherwise acquire mouthpiece filters to incorporate them into the rolled cigarettes.
- US Patent Application No. 2004/0200852 to Allison et al. discloses a cigarette rolling paper dispenser which is adapted to store tip blanks.
- One limitation, however, is that the user must “disassemble” the rear wall of the dispenser package to reveal the “stacked accordion” of tip blanks. Accordingly, the cigarette papers are exposed—not being secured at all by the package—and may easily spill out from the package.

Abstract
Cellulose-glycerol cigarette papers are described which has advantages such as milder taste, less chemicals, a slower burn with less ash and smoke, and also it is self-adhering when a water-based agent is applied. A cigarette paper dispensing package is also provided which enables easy access to a single cigarette paper. Tear-off mouthpiece filters are also integrally provided for within the package, while providing efficient dispensing of a single cigarette paper without spillage or grabbing too many inadvertently.
Description
- This invention generally relates to cigarette paper and cigarette paper dispensing package for users who roll their own cigarettes. This invention particularly relates to a cigarette paper dispensing package having an improved access to cigarette paper contained therein and also an improved cigarette paper in terms of usability and composition for users who roll their own cigarettes.
- Further, cigarette papers typically tear easily. Adhesive for cigarette papers is often applied on one side of the cigarette paper along an edge. See, e.g., U.S. Pat. No. 6,164,443 to Mitchell et al., col. 1 lines 62-64 and col. 4 lines 3-5. The cigarette paper, adhesive, and the like oftentimes have chemicals which potentially may cause the user adverse effects such as the experience of a bad taste and other adverse physical reactions. See, e.g., U.S. Pat. No. 6,164,443 to Mitchell et al., col. 4 lines 52-57. Moreover, the adhesive sometimes weakens the cigarette paper when applied thereto, increasing the chances of an inadvertent tear in the cigarette paper when the user attempts to seal the paper containing the rolled contents with the adhesive. This is yet another limitation to adhesive application on cigarette paper as opposed to a self-adhering alternative.
- In filtered cigarettes, the mouthpiece filter helps prevent tobacco from escaping the cigarette and regulate air flow at the cigarette's base. However, these mouthpiece filters have not been traditionally included as an integral part of the cigarette paper package and the user must purchase or otherwise acquire mouthpiece filters to incorporate them into the rolled cigarettes. US Patent Application No. 2004/0200852 to Allison et al., however, discloses a cigarette rolling paper dispenser which is adapted to store tip blanks. One limitation, however, is that the user must “disassemble” the rear wall of the dispenser package to reveal the “stacked accordion” of tip blanks. Accordingly, the cigarette papers are exposed—not being secured at all by the package—and may easily spill out from the package. Moreover, because all of the cigarette papers are fully exposed when the rear wall of the package is “open,” the user cannot easily take a single cigarette paper out from the dispenser—rather, the same problem with taking too many cigarette filter papers (when only one is desired) is present, just like the above-referenced envelope-like cigarette paper dispenser package.
- It is an advantage of the invention to provide a vertically-oriented cigarette paper dispensing package with a rear flap with one or a plurality of perforated segments which inserts into a horizontal slot, thereby storing it for later use, and a method for assemblage of the same. It is a further advantage of the invention to provide one or more of the perforated segments of the rear flap of the package which may be used as a mouthpiece filter for use in conjunction with the cigarette paper to help prevent tobacco—or other smokable content—from escaping the cigarette and to regulate the air flow at the cigarette base.
- It is an advantage of the invention to facilitate access to the contents of the package (i.e., cigarette papers) by having a rear flap which is easily raised. It is a related advantage of the invention to facilitate the raising of the rear flap by bending or folding one of the perforated segments to further facilitate access to the contents. It is yet another related advantage of the invention to facilitate the raising of the rear flap by bending or folding the rear flap to further facilitate access to the contents. It is still another related advantage of the invention to facilitate the raising of the rear flap with the aid of outer bilateral fold or score lines and an inner sliced segment to further facilitate access to the contents.
- It is an advantage of the invention to provide access to a cigarette paper contained within the package by way of an aperture located at the top of the rear wall which partially exposes the cigarette paper for easier access.
- It is yet another advantage of the invention to provide cigarette papers for use in conjunction with the above-mentioned cigarette paper dispensing package. It is a related advantage to provide a cellulose-glycerol cigarette paper composition which provides benefits such as, but not limited to, a slower burn with less ash and smoke, a milder taste, and also a more natural cigarette paper alternative compared to traditional cigarette paper which may contain synthetic chemicals potentially deleterious to human health or with other adverse or unwanted side effects. It is yet another related advantage to provide the cellulose-glycerol cigarette paper which acquires the self-adhering physical property after a water-based agent is applied, the paper is rolled, and then sealed with sufficient pressure.
- It is still another advantage to provide at least one or more perforated segments of the rear flap of the cigarette paper dispensing package which may be used as a cigarette mouthpiece filter when the perforated segment is rolled and placed within the cigarette paper prior to rolling such that said cigarette paper is rolled with smokable contents and said rolled mouthpiece filter. It is yet another advantage for the mouthpiece filter to help prevent tobacco—or other smokable content—from escaping the cigarette and to regulate the air flow at the cigarette base.

FIG. 21 illustrates an embodiment of a rolled cigarette paper with a mouthpiece filter being inserted into the cavity of the rolled cigarette paper. - Cigarette papers for use in conjunction with the package are cellulose-glycerol cigarette papers which are self-adhering when a water-based agent is applied. The cigarette paper has a milder taste than other, more conventional cigarette papers and also provides a natural alternative to other synthetic cigarette papers. Advantages include a slower burn with less ash and smoke, a milder taste, and being able to use either side of the paper for sealing the cigarette since the cellulose-glycerol composition is self-adhering when wet with a water-based agent (including saliva)—in a preferred embodiment, the cellulose is naturally-occurring (i.e., not synthetically derived) combined with about 9% weight-by-weight concentration (hereinafter, “w/w”) glycerol or less to form preferably about a 24 gsm layer. Additionally, the cigarette paper is more tear-resistant than other forms of cigarette paper. The naturally-occurring cellulose forms the main ingredient of the cigarette paper. The glycerol helps provide for a slower burn rate than regular cigarette paper and also adds flexibility to the otherwise structurally rigid cellulose.
- In an embodiment as shown in
FIG. 1 , a vertically oriented cigarette paper dispensing package comprising: a front wall (1), a top edge (2), a rear wall (3) having at least one horizontal slot (4) therein for receiving a rear flap (17) and at least one aperture (5) to provide a user access to a cigarette paper (28) (as depicted inFIG. 12( d)); a bottom edge (10) of said front wall (1), and two opposed sidewalls (13 and 14, respectively) of said front wall (1), and said rear wall (3) with two opposed sidewalls (12 and 13, respectively); wherein said rear flap (17) comprises at least one perforated segment (18) located at the proximal end (i.e., the ‘free’ end whereby a user may tear off a perforated segment) of the rear wall (3) for use as a cigarette mouthpiece filter (19) in conjunction with the cigarette paper (28) (as depicted inFIG. 21) . In a related embodiment, a logo section (27) on the rear flap (17) for an imprinted or otherwise affixed logo on the cigarette paper dispensing package is provided. In yet another related embodiment, the logo may be or otherwise affixed logo on the cigarette paper dispensing package on either side of the rear flap (17). - The cigarette mouthpiece filter (19) of
FIG. 1 is proximally oriented at the base of the rolled cigarette paper (28) as shown inFIG. 21 (discussed further below). The proximally oriented mouthpiece filter (19) helps prevent tobacco from escaping the cigarette and regulates the air flow at the cigarette base. - When the rear flap is raised (17) as shown in
FIG. 1 , this partially exposes the cigarette papers (28) (as depicted inFIG. 12( d)) contained within the dispensing package. For ease of use in terms of taking out just one cigarette paper, an aperture (5)—as shown in FIG. 1—is provided with sufficient space to provide the user with access to grasp a single cigarette paper and easily take the paper out of the package for use (as depicted inFIG. 12( d)). The paper may then be used to roll smoking article contents such as tobacco. - As depicted in
FIG. 1 , the rear flap (17) is easily removed from the horizontal slot (4). When present, at least one or a plurality of the perforated segments (18) of the rear flap (17) may be bent by a user (not shown) to facilitate the raising of the rear flap (17) which had been inserted into the horizontal slot (4) of the cigarette paper dispensing package. A user has the option of tearing off one or a plurality of perforated segments (18) for use as a mouthpiece filter (19) with the cigarette paper (28) (as shown inFIG. 21 ). However, even when at least one or a plurality of the perforated segments (18) of the rear flap (17) as shown inFIG. 1 are not present (e.g., the user has torn off all of the perforated segments for use as mouthpiece filters), the rear flap (17) is still of sufficient length so as to be capable of being received and held in place (not shown) by the horizontal slot (4). -
FIG. 1 has been depicted in the form of an unfolded layout to facilitate the explanation of the foregoing components and respective functions; also note thatFIG. 1 is drawn to scale. However, in terms of assemblage (not shown) of the cigarette paper dispensing package, top edge (2), bottom edges (9 and 10, respectively), bottom side flaps (20 and 21, respectively), sidewalls (12 and 13) of the rear wall (3), sidewalls (13 and 14) of the front wall (1), bottom tab (8) which extends from bottom edge (9), and the rear wall (3) with upper side flap (6) and lower side flap (7) are all folded so as to form a rectangular, three-dimensional shape whereby upper side flap (6) and lower side flap (7) of the rear wall (3) are adjoined with their respective tab inserts (16 and 15, respectively) of the front wall (1) such that the front wall (1) and the rear wall (3) now are opposite one another in the planar sense; further, bottom side flaps (20 and 21, respectively) are folded inward (i.e., towards the center of the package) such that the bottom insert (11) of bottom edge (10) receives bottom tab (8) which extends from the bottom edge (9) of the rear wall (3). Finally, rear flap (17) is received by the horizontal slot (4) of the rear wall (3). - The embodiment of
FIG. 2 (which is identical—in terms of components and method of assemblage—toFIG. 1 ) provides exemplary measurements for the various components of the cigarette paper dispensing package and is drawn to scale. For instance, the front wall (1) and rear wall (3) each have a length of 4.5 inches. The width of the front wall (1) and rear wall (3) is 1.5 inches for each. Tab inserts (15) and (16) each are 0.5 inches in length. The upper side flap (6) and lower side flap (7) which are ultimately inserted into tabs (16) and (15), respectively, are also 0.5 inches in length at the narrowest points, respectively (not shown); however, each tab insert (16 and 15, respectively) are 6/8 inches in width respectively at their longest portions as shown inFIG. 2 . The distance between the upper side flap (6) and lower side flap (7) is 3.5 inches. - Also as shown in
FIG. 2 , the bottom edge (10) of the rear wall (3) is 1.25 inches—the same as the corresponding bottom edge (10) of the front wall (1). Bottom side flaps (20) and (21) of the front wall (1) are 3/16 inch squares which interlock respectively with the complementary edges—each of which also protrude by 3/16 of an inch—of the bottom tab (8) which extends from the bottom edge (9) of the rear wall (3). - The horizontal slot (4) of the rear wall (3) as shown in
FIG. 2 is also 1.5 inches in width. The horizontal slot (4) is located 8/16 of an inch from the top of the rear wall (3). The aperture (5) is 12/16 of an inch and, as such, is designed to accommodate a typical user's thumb or finger (not shown) for accessing the contents of the package such that the user may grasp a single cigarette paper—instead of grasping many by accident or spilling them. - Like the rear wall (3) as depicted in
FIG. 2 , the rear flap (17) is also 4.5 inches in length. The end of the rear flap (17) is 10/16 of an inch in length. Each mouthpiece filter (19)—which is designated by the perforated segments (18)—is 11/32 of an inch in width, as also described by the text ofFIG. 2 . - As also shown in
FIG. 2 , a logo section (27) for an imprinted or otherwise affixed logo on the cigarette paper dispensing package is provided, having an allocated space of 1⅛ inches in length and 1.5 inches in width as a distal end (i.e., the end opposite the proximal end, referred to above; also, the distal end is connected with the top edge (2) which adjoins the front wall (1)) of the rear flap (17). - As depicted in the embodiment of
FIG. 3 (an alternate embodiment ofFIG. 1 ), a vertically oriented cigarette paper dispensing package comprising: a front wall (1), a top edge (2), a rear wall (3) having at least one horizontal slot (4) therein for receiving a rear flap (17) and at least one aperture (5) to provide a user access to a cigarette paper (as shown inFIG. 12( d)), a bottom edge (10) of said front wall (1) with opposed sidewalls (13) and (14), and said rear wall (3) with opposed sidewalls (12) and (13), wherein said rear flap (17) comprises at least one perforated segment (18) located at the proximal end (i.e., as defined above) of the rear wall (3) for use as a cigarette mouthpiece filter (19) in conjunction with the cigarette paper (as shown inFIG. 21) . Compared with the embodiment depicted inFIG. 1 ,FIG. 3 lacks the features of two bottom side flaps (i.e.,elements FIG. 1 ) and also has a differently configured bottom tab (8) (compare withelement 8 inFIG. 1 ). - The cigarette mouthpiece filter (19) of
FIG. 3 is proximally oriented (as depicted inFIG. 21 ) at the base of the rolled cigarette paper (28) (as depicted inFIG. 21 ). The proximally oriented mouthpiece filter (19) (as depicted inFIG. 21 ) helps prevent the smokable content such as, but not limited to, tobacco from escaping the cigarette and regulates the air flow at the cigarette base. - When the rear flap (17) is raised as shown in
FIG. 3 , this partially exposes the cigarette papers (as depicted inFIG. 12( d)) contained within the dispensing package. For ease of use in terms of taking out just one cigarette paper, an aperture (5) is provided with sufficient space to provide a user with access to a single cigarette paper and easily take the paper out of the package for use (as shown inFIG. 12( d)). The cigarette paper may then be used to roll smoking article contents such as, but not limited to, tobacco. After the contents are placed on the paper, the paper is rolled and then sealed by applying a water-based agent (e.g., saliva, water, and the like) at an end of the paper with sufficient pressure to self-adhere the cigarette paper. In an embodiment, a rolled mouthpiece filter may be placed at a proximal end of the cigarette paper (i.e., so as to be contained within the rolled cigarette paper—as depicted inFIG. 21) with respect to a user's lips. The composition of the paper comprises cellulose and glycerol having a layer thickness of about 22 gsm to about 24 gsm, preferably about 24 gsm. In a preferred embodiment, the cellulose is naturally-occurring and the glycerol has about a 9% w/w concentration. In another embodiment, the glycerol has about a 5% w/w concentration to about a 25% w/w concentration - As depicted in
FIG. 3 , the rear flap (17) may be easily removed from the horizontal slot (4). When present, at least one or a plurality of the perforated segments (18) of the rear flap (17) may bend (not shown) to facilitate the raising of the rear flap (17) from the horizontal slot (4) of the cigarette paper dispensing package. A user has the option of tearing off one or a plurality of perforated segments (18) for use as a mouthpiece filter (19) with the rolled cigarette paper (as depicted inFIG. 21 ). However, even when the perforated segments (18) of the rear flap (17) as shown inFIG. 3 are not present (e.g., the user has torn off all of the perforated segments for use as mouthpiece filters), the rear flap (17) is still of sufficient length so as to be capable of being received and held in place (not shown) by the horizontal slot (4). -
FIG. 3 has been depicted in the form of an unfolded layout to facilitate the explanation of the foregoing components and respective functions; also note thatFIG. 3 is drawn to scale. However, in terms of assemblage (not shown) of the cigarette paper dispensing package, top edge (2), bottom edges (9 and 10, respectively), opposing sidewalls (12 and 13, respectively), bottom tab (8), and the rear wall (3) upper side flap (6) and the rear wall (3) lower side flap (7) are all folded so as to form a rectangular, three-dimensional shape whereby upper side flap (6) and lower side flap (7) of the rear wall (3) are adjoined with their respective tab inserts (12 and 14, respectively) of the front wall (1) such that the front wall (1) and the rear wall (3) now are opposite one another in the planar sense; further, bottom side flaps (20 and 21, respectively) are folded inward (i.e., towards the center of the package) such that the bottom insert (11) of bottom edge (7) receives bottom tab (8) of the rear wall (3) which extends from the bottom edge (9). Finally, rear flap (17) is received by the horizontal slot (4) of the rear wall (3). -
FIG. 4 illustrates an exemplary preferred embodiment of a cigarette paper dispensing package in a partially unfolded form and is drawn to scale—this is an alternate embodiment ofFIG. 3 and lacks tab inserts (15 and 16), sidewall (14), and upper and lower side flaps (6 and 7, respectively); further, instead of the upper and lower side flaps (6 and 7, respectively), it has a glue tab (22). - As depicted in
FIG. 4 , a vertically oriented cigarette paper dispensing package comprising: a front wall (1), a top edge (2), a rear wall (3) having at least one horizontal slot (4) therein for receiving a rear flap (17) and at least one aperture (5) to provide a user with access to a cigarette paper (as depicted inFIG. 12( d)); a bottom edge (10) of said front wall (1), and two opposed sidewalls (12 and 13, respectively), wherein said rear flap (17) comprises at least one perforated segment (18) located at the proximal end (i.e., as defined above) of the rear wall (3) for use as a cigarette mouthpiece filter (19) in conjunction with the rolled cigarette paper (28) (as depicted inFIG. 21) . In a related embodiment, a logo section (27) on the rear flap (17) for an imprinted or otherwise affixed logo on the cigarette paper dispensing package is provided. In yet another related embodiment, the logo may be imprinted or otherwise affixed to the logo section (27) on either side of the rear flap (17). - The cigarette mouthpiece filter (19) of
FIG. 4 is proximally oriented (as depicted inFIG. 21 ) at the base of the rolled cigarette paper (28) (as depicted inFIG. 21 ). The proximally oriented mouthpiece filter (19) (as depicted inFIG. 21 ) helps prevent smokable contents such as, but not limited to, tobacco from escaping the cigarette and regulates the air flow at the cigarette base. - When the rear flap (17) is raised as shown in
FIG. 4 , this partially exposes the cigarette papers (as depicted inFIGS. 15 through 18 ) contained within the dispensing package. For ease of use in terms of taking out just one cigarette paper, an aperture (5) is provided with sufficient space to provide the user to access a single cigarette paper and easily take the paper out of the package for use (as depicted inFIGS. 15 through 18 ). 21 ) with respect to a user's lips. The composition of the paper comprises cellulose and glycerol having a layer thickness of about 22 gsm to about 24 gsm, preferably about 24 gsm. In a preferred embodiment, the cellulose is naturally-occurring and the glycerol has about a 9% w/w concentration. In another embodiment, the glycerol has about a 5% w/w to about a 25% w/w concentration. - As depicted in
FIG. 4 , the rear flap (17) is easily removed from the horizontal slot (4). When present, at least one or a plurality of the perforated segments (18) of the rear flap (17) may bend (not shown) to facilitate the raising of the rear flap (17) from the horizontal slot (4) of the cigarette paper dispensing package. A user has the option of tearing off one or a plurality of perforated segments (18) for use as a mouthpiece filter (19) with the cigarette (as depicted inFIG. 21 ). However, even when the perforated segments (18) of the rear flap (17) as shown inFIG. 4 are not present (e.g., the user has torn off all of the perforated segments for use as mouthpiece filters), the rear flap (17) is still of sufficient length so as to be capable of being received and held in place (not shown) by the horizontal slot (4). In a related embodiment, a logo section (27) on the rear flap (17) for an imprinted or otherwise affixed logo on the cigarette paper dispensing package is provided. In yet another related embodiment, the logo may be imprinted or otherwise affixed on either side of the rear flap (17). -
FIG. 4 has been depicted in the form of a partially unfolded layout to facilitate the explanation of the foregoing components and respective functions; also note thatFIG. 4 is drawn to scale. However, in terms of assemblage (not shown) of the cigarette paper dispensing package, top edge (2), bottom edges (9 and 10, respectively), opposing sidewalls (12 and 13, respectively) of the rear wall (3), and bottom tab (8) which extends from bottom edge (9) ultimately form a rectangular, three-dimensional shape whereby the glue tab (22) sidewall may be affixed to the underside of the front wall (1) with a suitable adhesive. - (Note that the glue tab (22) of FIG. 4—including once it is affixed to the underside of the front wall (1)—functionally takes the place of the upper side flap (6) and lower side flap (7) which are inserted into tab inserts (15) and (16) as described previously in connection with
FIGS. 1-3 .) - The glue tab (22) of
FIG. 4 is folded so it is perpendicular with regard to the rest of the as-shown planar package and appears at this angle to clarify that the glue tab (22) ultimately mates with the underside of the front wall (1). Further, the bottom insert (11) of bottom edge (10) receives bottom tab (8) which extends from the bottom edge (9) of the rear wall (3), components of which are shown inFIG. 4 . Finally, rear flap (17) is received by the horizontal slot (4) of the rear wall (3), components of which are shown inFIG. 4 . -
FIG. 5 illustrates an exemplary preferred embodiment of a cigarette paper dispensing package in a partially unfolded form and is drawn to scale—this is an alternate embodiment ofFIG. 4 and lacks bottom edge (7), bottom tab (8), bottom insert (11), and opposed sidewall (14) of the front wall (1); additionally, asFIG. 5 depicts, the rear wall (3) has bilateral glue tabs (22) and (23) and the configuration is such that the front wall (1) and rear wall (3) are end-to-end instead of side-to-side (as illustrated inFIG. 4 ). - With regard to the preferred embodiment as depicted in
FIG. 5 , a vertically oriented cigarette paper dispensing package comprising: a front wall (1), a top edge (2), a rear wall (3) having at least one horizontal slot (4) therein for receiving a rear flap (17) and at least one aperture (5) to provide a user access to a cigarette paper (as depicted inFIG. 12( d)); and two opposed sidewalls (12 and 13, respectively) of the rear wall (3) and the rear flap (17) comprises at least one perforated segment (18) located at the proximal end (i.e., as defined above) of the rear wall (3) for use as a cigarette mouthpiece filter (19) in conjunction with the rolled cigarette paper (28) (as depicted inFIG. 21 ; discussed further below). - The cigarette mouthpiece filter (19) of

FIG. 8 , a vertically oriented cigarette paper dispensing package comprising: a front wall (1), a top edge (2), a rear wall (3) having at least one horizontal slot (4) therein for receiving a rear flap (17) facilitated by outer bilateral fold or score lines (24 and 25, respectively) and inner sliced segment (26) of the rear flap (17) and at least one aperture (5) to provide a user access to a cigarette paper (not shown); and two opposed sidewalls (12 and 13, respectively) of the rear wall (3) and the rear flap (17) comprises at least one perforated segment (18) located at the proximal end (i.e., as defined above) of the rear wall (3) for use as a cigarette mouthpiece filter (19) in conjunction with the cigarette paper (28) (as depicted inFIG. 21 ). In a related embodiment, a logo section (27) on the rear flap (17) for an imprinted or otherwise affixed logo on the cigarette paper dispensing package is provided. In yet another related embodiment, the logo may be imprinted or otherwise affixed on either side of the logo section (27) vis-á-vis the rear flap (17). - The cigarette mouthpiece filter (19) of
FIG. 8 is proximally oriented (as depicted inFIG. 21 ) at the base of the rolled cigarette paper (28) (as depicted inFIG. 21 ). The proximally oriented mouthpiece filter (19) (as depicted inFIG. 21 ) helps prevent smokable content such as, but not limited to, tobacco from escaping the cigarette and regulates the air flow at the cigarette base. - When the rear flap (17) is raised as shown in
FIG. 8 , this partially exposes the cigarette papers (not shown) contained within the dispensing package. For ease of use in terms of taking out just one cigarette paper, an aperture (5) to provide access to a single sheet of cigarette paper and easily take the paper out of the package for use (not shown). The paper may then be used to roll smoking article contents such as, but not limited to, tobacco. After the contents are placed on the paper, the paper is rolled and then sealed by applying a water-based agent (e.g., saliva, water, and the like) at an end of the paper with sufficient pressure to self-adhere the cigarette paper. In an embodiment, a rolled mouthpiece filter (19) may be placed at a proximal end of the cigarette paper (28) (as depicted inFIG. 21 ) with respect to a user's lips. The composition of the paper comprises cellulose and glycerol having a layer thickness of about 22 gsm to about 24 gsm, preferably about 24 gsm. In a preferred embodiment, the cellulose is naturally occurring and the glycerol has about a 9% w/w concentration. In another embodiment, the glycerol has about a 5% w/w to about a 25% w/w concentration. - As depicted in
FIG. 8 , the rear flap (17) is easily removed from the horizontal slot (4). When present, at least one or a plurality of the perforated segments (18) of the rear flap (17) may bend (not shown) to facilitate the raising of the rear flap (17) from the horizontal slot (4) of the cigarette paper dispensing package. A user has the option of tearing off one or a plurality of perforated segments (18) for use as a mouthpiece filter (19) with the rolled cigarette paper (28) (as depicted inFIG. 21 ). However, even when the perforated segments (18) of the rear flap (17) as shown inFIG. 8 are not present (e.g., the user has torn off all of the perforated segments for use as mouthpiece filters), the rear flap (17) is still of sufficient length so as to be capable of being received and held in place (not shown) by the horizontal slot (4). -
FIG. 8 has been depicted in the form of a partially unfolded layout to facilitate the explanation of the foregoing components and respective functions; also note thatFIG. 8 is drawn to scale. However, in terms of assemblage (not shown) of the cigarette paper dispensing package, top edge (2), bottom edge (9), opposing sidewalls (12 and 13, respectively) of the rear wall (3), ultimately form a rectangular, three-dimensional shape whereby the glue tabs (22 and 23) may be affixed to the underside of the front wall (1) with a suitable adhesive and the remaining glue tab (22 or 23) may be affixed to the underside of the already-affixed glue tab (22 or 23). (The glue tabs (22 and 23) are folded so that they are perpendicular with regard to the rest of the as-shown planar package and appears at this angle to clarify that the glue tabs (22 and 23) ultimately mate—directly or indirectly—with the underside of the front wall (1).) Finally, rear flap (17) is received by slot (4) of the rear wall (3) ultimately being inserted into the horizontal slot (4)—the receipt of the rear flap (17) by the horizontal slot (4) of the rear wall (3) is facilitated by outer bilateral fold or score lines (24 and 25, respectively) and an inner sliced segment (26) which aids in the flexion of the rear flap (17) into the horizontal slot (4). The inner sliced segment (26) has a semi-rectangular shape. -
