- The present invention relates generally to mounting hardware and, more particularly, to hardware that will attach a keyboard platform or such table to the center pivot post of any executive type office chair.
- Elderly and other chair dependent people have difficulty getting up and down from a standard chair or sofa and I have found that a suitable solution is a high quality office or executive type chair. They contain all the necessary features, height adjustment, stable armrests, swivel, rock and are ergonomically designed for hours of comfortable seating. Chair dependent people need ready access to a table of necessities and such standard table restricts one of the most desirable features of the office type chair and that is it's ability to swivel.
- Free Standing Table
- Brown, U.S. Pat. No. 6,935,683, Chair arm mounted computer accessory support assembly
- Goodall, U.S. Pat. No. 5,653,499, Chair bracket supporting keyboard and mouse platforms
- Christensen, U.S. Pat. No. 5,727,759, Integrated mouse pad and wrist and arm support
- Fricano, U.S. Pat. No. 5,169,210, Chair with pivoting keyboard pad
- Arm rest clamp on tables and under seat attachment tables pose the problem of restricting the rocking action of such shair and free standing tables restrict the chair swivel movement.
- It is therefore an object of the invention to provide a table support frame comprised of at least one part with means to attach a table to a common office type chair or executive chair while not restricting the swivel and rocking action of said office chair to which it is attached.
- It is another object of the invention to provide means for said table support frame to attach to the center post of said office type chair.
- It is another object of the invention to provide means to accomodate a second said table support frame so two tables can move independently of each other and independently of the swivel action of such chair.
- It is another object of the invention to provide a means to attach said table support frame to the center post of said office type chair so as to not require disassembly of said chair.
- It is another object of the invention to provide means to prevent wear at the connecting point and to allow free movement of said table.
- It is another object of the invention to provide means for said table to rotate independently to any point around said chair and not interfere with said chair.
- It is another object of the invention to provide a means for said table support frame to adjust laterally to accommodate any size said chair It is another object of the invention to provide means for said table support frame to adjust vertically to match said chair's height adjustment feature.
- It is another object of the invention to provide means for said table to pivot on it's own axis independently from said table support frame or said chair to which it is attached.
- In accordance with the present invention, there is provided a mount for a table that is both decorative and functional. A clamp-on base attaches around the gas spring lift of any office or executive type chair. This attachment point allows such table to rotate independently around the center support post of said chair and easily move to either side or front while not interfering with said chair's own swivel movement. Said table height is designed to be comfortable for a seated human and can also adjust to accommodate the height adjustment of said chair.
- A complete understanding of the present invention may be obtained by reference to the accompanying drawings, when considered in conjunction with the subsequent, detailed description, in which:
-
