Description
- 1. Field of the Invention
- The present invention relates to a lifting and lowering structure of a long-legged chair, more particularly one, which is relatively easy to operate for adjusting the height of the seat.
- 2. Brief Description of the Prior Art
- Babies and little children don't have enough height or ability to act independent therefore adults sometimes have to seat babies and little children in long-legged chairs. Most of such chairs can be folded with front and rear legs thereof being close together to be easy to store and carry. And, because little children grow taller very rapidly, such chairs should be equipped with height-adjustable seats for suiting little children at different ages.
- Referring to
FIGS. 7 and 8 , a currently existing long-legged chair includes a pair offront legs 91, a pair ofrear legs 92 each pivoted to a respective one of thefront legs 91, a pair ofseat supporting members 93, and aseat 94 joined to theseat supporting members 93. Theseat supporting members 93 are each fitted on a respective one of thefront legs 91 so as to slide over thefront legs 91. Theseat 94 can be joined to theseat supporting members 93 by any fastening means that allows theseat 94 to be easily fitted to/separated from theseat supporting members 93. Furthermore, theseat supporting members 93 each have aknob 95 fitted thereon, which includes ahandle part 951, and abolt part 952 with outer threads. And, thefront legs 91 have several securingholes 911 thereon, which allow thebolt parts 952 of theknobs 95 to be passed into so as to secure theseat supporting members 93 after theseat supporting members 93 are adjusted to a proper height. - The above structure has a disadvantage: the
knobs 95 have to be passed into the securingholes 911 and turned after theseat supporting members 93 have been adjusted. Consequently, it takes relatively much time and labor to operate such a long-legged chair. - Therefore, it is a main object of the present invention to provide an improvement on a lifting and lowering structure of a long-legged chair, which is easy to operate.
- A lifting and lowering structure of a long-legged chair according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a pair of seat supporting members, which are each connected to a respective one of front legs of the chair so as to slide up and down over the front legs; each seat supporting member has a hollow protruding portion thereon, which has a hole facing and adjacent to a corresponding front leg, and a button received therein and pivoted thereto. Each button has a pressed portion and an inserted portion passed through a corresponding said hole so as to be received in one of the recessed portions in order for the seat supporting members to be firmly held on the front legs. Furthermore, angle between each button pressed portion and a corresponding inserted portion is blunt; thus, downward force exerted on the seat supporting members will be passed on to the font legs to increase the moment of force, thus making the buttons further passed into and tightly pressed against the recessed portions. When the buttons are pressed at the pressed portions, the inserted portions will be out of the recessed portions of the front legs, and in turn height of the seat supporting members can be adjusted.
- The present invention will be better understood by referring to the accompanying drawings, wherein:
-
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the present invention, -
FIG. 2 is a fragmentary exploded perspective view of the present invention, -
FIG. 3 is a side view of the present invention, -
FIG. 4 is a sectional view of the present invention, taken when the button is partly received in one recessed portion, -
FIG. 5 is a sectional view of the present invention, taken when the button is apart from the recessed portions, -
FIG. 6 is a side view of the present invention, taken after the seat is adjusted in height, -
FIG. 7 is a perspective view of the prior art, and -
FIG. 8 is a partial sectional view of the prior art. - Referring to
FIGS. 1 toFIGS. 6 , a preferred embodiment of a long-legged chair of the present invention includes a pair offront legs 1, a pair ofrear legs 2, a pair ofseat supporting members 3, aseat 4, andcasters 5. - The
front legs 1 each have severalrecessed portions 12 spaced apart on a first side thereof. Therear legs 2 are pivoted to respective ones of thefront legs 1. Theseat supporting members 3 are each connected to a respective one of thefront legs 1 so as to slide over the correspondingfront leg 1. Theseat 4 is joined to theseat supporting members 3 in a separable manner. Thefront legs 1 are further coupled with atransverse rod 11 so as to be secured together. Therear legs 2 are coupled with atransverse rod 21 so as to be secured together. Thecasters 5 are each connected to a respective one of the front and therear legs - The
seat supporting members 3 each includes alateral plank part 31, and asliding sleeve 32 securely joined to thelateral plank part 31. Furthermore, theseat supporting members 3 are coupled and secured together with atransverse rod 311, which will help support theseat 4 when theseat 4 is supported by theseat supporting members 3. Thesliding sleeves 32 are positioned around the correspondingfront legs 1 so that theseat supporting members 3 can slide up and down along thefront legs 1 together.Armrests 33 are fitted to respective ones of thelateral plank parts 31 of theseat supporting members 3. Thelateral plank parts 31 is made so as to allow theseat 4 to be easily fitted thereto and easily separated therefrom. - The
seat supporting members 3 each have ahollow protruding portion 61. And, the hollow protrudingportions 61 each have abutton 62 received therein and pivoted thereto, and ahole 611 facing the first side of the correspondingfront leg 1, on which therecessed portions 12 are formed. Thebuttons 62 each have a pressedportion 621, and an insertedportion 622 below the pressedportion 621 and facing thehole 611 of the correspondinghollow protruding portion 61, and are each pivoted at a proper portion thereof to the corresponding hollow protrudingportion 61 by means of apin 63, which can be a rivet; the pressedportions 621 of thebuttons 62 are rectangular flat plate-shaped, and have saw teeth shapedportions 6211 for slip-prevention. Thebuttons 62 are each biased by means of anelastic element 64, which is interposed between an inward side of its pressedportion 621 and an inner side of the hollow protrudingpart 61, such that thebuttons 62 are each received in one of therecessed portions 12 of a correspondingfront leg 1 at the insertedportion 622 thereof so as to hold theseat supporting members 3 in position. - An angle between each one of the pressed
portions 621 and the corresponding insertedportion 622 is blunt. Referring toFIG. 4 , theelastic elements 64 will provide a moment of force so as to make the insertedportions 622 of thebuttons 62 further pass into the recessedportions 12 of thefront legs 1 after the insertedportions 622 are received in the recessedportions 12. Furthermore, downward force exerted on theseat supporting members 3 will be passed on to thefont legs 1 to increase the moment of force, thus making thebuttons 62 further passed into and tightly pressed against therecessed portions 12 of thefront legs 1 so as to make theseat supporting members 3 firm on thefront legs 1. - Referring to
FIGS. 5 and 6 , theseat supporting members 3 will be adjustable in height after the pressedportions 621 of thebuttons 62 are pressed in order for the insertedportions 622 to be out of the recessedportions 12 of thefont legs 1; after theseat supporting members 3 are lifted/lowered to next recessedportions 12, thebuttons 62 will be automatically inserted into the recessedportions 12 of thefront legs 1 again to make theseat supporting members 3 firm on thefront legs 1.
