  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION Introduction
  • The present invention recognizes that liners and organizers for purses or other handbags can be made more user friendly and more time efficient when changing from one container to another by using a selectively size adjustable purse liner, which can be easily transferred to a different purse, whether or not the second purse is of a different size.
  • As a non-limiting introduction to the breadth of the present invention, the present invention includes several general and useful aspects, including:
      • 1) A transferable purse liner insertable inside a purse, including a bottom member including one or more flexible materials, the bottom member comprising a generally rectangular configuration with two long side edges and two side short edges; a side panel including a top edge and a bottom edge wherein the entire periphery of the bottom edge of the side panel is coextensively attached to the entire periphery of the side edges of the bottom member forming a first size open top pouch, the side panel including one or more pieces of the flexible materials; and one or more means for reversible selective size adjustment connected to the side panel, wherein the side panel is able to fold over itself and reversibly attach to itself by way of the one or more means for reversible selective size adjustment forming a second size open top pouch, wherein the second size open top pouch is smaller in dimensions than the first size open top pouch.
  • The present invention is particularly adaptable as an addition to any purse or other handbags, which works by allowing a user to place and organize all the essential items usually found in a purse in a liner, and at some other time when desiring to use another purse, to transfer the entire content of the purse into another purse in an organized and efficient manner. The present invention can be used with purses or handbags of varying size, where the purse liner can be used in a purse of a certain size, and then adjusted in size either larger or smaller, and be placed in a different size purse.
  • Further objectives and advantages of the present invention will become apparent as the description proceeds and when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings. To gain a full appreciation of the scope of the present invention, it will be further recognized that various aspects of the present invention can be combined to make desirable embodiments of the invention.
  • Unless defined otherwise, all technical and scientific terms used herein have the same meaning as commonly understood by one of ordinary skill in the art to which this invention belongs. Where a term is provided in the singular, the inventor also contemplates the plural of that term. The nomenclature used herein and the procedures described below are those well known and commonly employed in the art.
  • I. Transferable Purse Liner with Selective Size Adjustment Capability
  • The present invention includes a purse liner that can be inserted in a purse or other handbags. This liner may be a pouch similar in shape to the shape of the purse or handbag and is preferably completely enclosed except for the top of the pouch. The present invention includes a transferable purse liner that is insertable inside a purse, and preferably the insert is similar in shape to the purse or handbag so that the holding volume of the purse or handbag can be efficiently utilized.
  • The insertable liner of the present invention includes a bottom member including one or more flexible materials, wherein the bottom member comprises a generally rectangular configuration with two long side edges and two side short edges. The bottom member may include one or more layers of flexible materials, such as for example, pellon, taffeta, or other similar and suitable flexible materials.
  • The present invention also includes a side panel including a top edge and a bottom edge wherein the entire periphery of the bottom edge of the side panel is coextensively attached to the entire periphery of the side edges of the bottom member forming a first size open top pouch. The side panel of the present invention may include one or more pieces of the flexible materials, which together may form the first size open top pouch. The side panel may made of the same material as the bottom member, wherein the side panel may include one or more layers of flexible materials, such as for example, pellon, taffeta, or other similar and suitable flexible material. The side panel and the bottom member may be coextensively attached together by any suitable attaching means for attaching fabrics or other flexible materials together, for example, the side panel and the bottom member may be attached together by means of bias tape or other functional and/or decorative fabric tapes. The combination of these fabrics makes the purse liner very flexible and strong enough to be inserted or removed from a purse, even with all the essential items inserted without any disturbance to the contents in the purse liner. In one exemplary preferred embodiment of the present invention, the liner may be fabricated from pellon and taffeta and bias tape at 13½″ long, 6″ deep, and 4″ wide. Inside the liner may be surrounded all along by different size inner pockets to organize items from lipstick, passport, pens, cell phone, make up, etc.
  • The present invention also includes one or more means for reversible selective size adjustment connected to the side panel, wherein the side panel is able to fold over itself and reversibly attach to itself by way of the one or more means for reversible selective size adjustment forming a second size open top pouch, wherein the second size open top pouch is smaller in dimensions than the first size open top pouch. The one or more means for reversible selective size adjustment of the present invention may include any reversible selective size adjustment means that is able to form an attachment of between areas on the side panel resulting in a smaller size open top pouch, and then be able to disattach the areas of the side panel returning the size of the open top pouch back to its original size. For example, suitable reversible selective size adjustment means may include hook and loop fasteners such as Velcro®, which is preferred, or it may include other suitable reversible selective size adjustment means, such as for example, adhesive patches, drawstrings, buttons including snap buttons, zippers, peel and seal means, tongue and groove means, or any combination thereof including any other reversible selective size adjustment means suitable for the purpose. An important aspect of the present invention is the ability of the liner of the present invention to be reversibly size adjusted so that the insert can be inserted into purses or handbags of various sizes. Preferably, the one or more reversible selective size adjustment means of the side panel of the present invention provide for the ability to adjust the insert into two or more different sizes, by providing attachment locations across an area of the side panel or provide multiple attachment sites on the side panel. For example if Velcro® is used on the side panel, then the hook an/or loop section of the Velcro® tape can be attached to about two to about six inches in length across said side panel to be able to create pouches of various sizes.
  • The present invention may also include one or more hoops for convenient handling and transfer of purse liner from one purse to another. The user of the present invention can pull one of the hoops on the side and take the whole liner out of the purse with all the items in it, and insert it back into another purse. In this way, no item is forgotten or misplaced. The present invention may also include one or more pockets inside the transferable purse liner for organization of purse items.
  • EXAMPLES Example I Transferable Purse Liner with Selective Size Adjustment Capability
  • Referring to FIGS. 1 and 2, the present invention includes a transferable purse liner 100 insertable inside a purse, including a bottom member 101 including one or more flexible materials, the bottom member 101 comprising a generally rectangular configuration with two long side edges 102 and two side short edges 103; a side panel 104 including or more flexible materials including a top edge 105 and a bottom edge 106 wherein the entire periphery of the bottom edge 106 of the side panel 104 is coextensively attached to the entire periphery of the side edges 102 and 103 of the bottom member 101 forming a first size open top pouch, the side panel 104 including one or more pieces of the flexible materials; and one or more means for reversible selective size adjustment 107 connected to the side panel, wherein the side panel 104 is able to fold over itself and reversibly attach to itself by way of the one or more means for reversible selective size adjustment 107 forming a second size open top pouch, wherein the second size open top pouch is smaller in dimensions than the first size open top pouch.
  • In this Example, the present invention also includes one or more hoops 108 for convenient handling and transfer of purse liner 100 from one purse to another. The user of the present invention can pull one of the hoops on the side and take the whole liner out of the purse with all the items in it, and insert it back into another purse. In this way, no item is forgotten or misplaced. Also, in this Example, the present invention also includes one or more pockets 109 inside the transferable purse liner 100 for organization of purse items.
  • All headings are for the convenience of the reader and should not be used to limit the meaning of the text that follows the heading, unless so specified. Various changes and departures may be made to the present invention without departing from the spirit and scope thereof. Accordingly, it is not intended that the invention be limited to that specifically described in the specification or as illustrated in the drawings, but only as set forth in the claims.
