Description

    CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION
  • This application is a continuation-in-part of and claims priority to co-pending application Ser. No. 11/644,391 filed Dec. 21, 2006.
  • FIELD OF THE INVENTION
  • A gem finding multi jacket dangle enhancer relates to earrings. More particularly, a gem finding multi jacket dangle enhancer relates to earring jackets and dangles.
  • BACKGROUND
  • Most women, and some men, have a great variety of types and kinds of earrings which are in different shapes, styles and colors to match the type of clothes worn, the time of day and the function to be attended.
  • The earring must be relatively light, because it is supported entirely by the wearer's earlobe, and accordingly the mechanism should not add greatly to the weight of the earring. The mechanism should be relatively simple. If the mechanism requires a great deal of precision to manufacture or is complex with several moving parts, its cost may make it commercially impractical. It is a general object of the invention to provide a lightweight, reliable mechanism for securely maintaining an earring on the wearer's earlobe, while permitting relatively simple attachment and detachment.
  • It is customary for women to change earrings in order to match clothes styles, the time of day, and the function to be attended. As a result, most women have a great variety of types and kinds of earrings which are of different shapes, styles and colors. In addition, earrings have various ear lobe fastening devices including spring clamps and screw clamps which clamp on ear lobes, and post/clutch devices and wire ring devices which extend through pierced ear lobe openings.
  • Jewelry is typically selected by a wearer according to a particular mood, fashion choice and occasion. Because jewelry is often costly, however, the wearer may only have a limited number of jewelry items from which to choose. Accordingly, it is desirable to provide a single jewelry item that can be easily adapted by the wearer to be suitable for different situations.

None of the above inventions and patents, taken either singularly or in combination, is seen to describe the instant invention as claimed.
  • SUMMARY AND ADVANTAGES
  • The gem finding multi jacket dangle enhancer allows off the shelf earring posts with gems and nuts to be have interchangeable jackets in front of the earring to complement the gem and also to have interchangeable ornaments below the jacket. A gem finding multi jacket dangle enhancer includes a decorative jacket for an earring post that goes between a gem and an earlobe and having a post hole sized to allow through passage by an earring post, and a dangle enhancer dependently attached to said jacket adapted to replaceably holding dangles.
  • Additional advantages of the invention will be set forth in part in the description which follows, and in part will be obvious from the description, or may be learned by practice of the invention. The advantages of the invention may be realized and attained by means of the instrumentalities and combinations particularly pointed out in the appended claims. Further benefits and advantages of the embodiments of the invention will become apparent from consideration of the following detailed description given with reference to the accompanying drawings, which specify and show preferred embodiments of the present invention.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

  • FIG. 5 shows another embodiment of a gem finding multi-jacket dangle enhancer in relation to an earring post with gem, and an earlobe and a nut.
  • FIG. 6 shows another embodiment of a gem finding multi-jacket dangle enhancer in relation to an earring post with gem, and an earlobe and a nut.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION
  • Before beginning a detailed description of the subject invention, mention of the following is in order. When appropriate, like reference materials and characters are used to designate identical, corresponding, or similar components in differing figure drawings. The figure drawings associated with this disclosure typically are not drawn with dimensional accuracy to scale, i.e., such drawings have been drafted with a focus on clarity of viewing and understanding rather than dimensional accuracy.
  • In the interest of clarity, not all of the routine features of the implementations described herein are shown and described. It will, of course, be appreciated that in the development of any such actual implementation, numerous implementation-specific decisions must be made in order to achieve the developer's specific goals, such as compliance with application- and business-related constraints, and that these specific goals will vary from one implementation to another and from one developer to another. Moreover, it will be appreciated that such a development effort might be complex and time-consuming, but would nevertheless be a routine undertaking of engineering for those of ordinary skill in the art having the benefit of this disclosure.
  • As shown in FIGS. 1-4, a gem finding multi jacket dangle enhancer 10 is provided with a jacket 12 for an earring post P that goes between the gem G and the earlobe L, instead of between the nut N and the earlobe L, with a dependent hook or dangle 16 to allow different dangle attachments or ornaments O to be attached, switched out, and stacked. As shown in FIGS. 1-4, gem finding multi jacket dangle enhancer 10 includes a jacket 12 with a close fitting post hole 14 through which an earring post P can be inserted through, a dependent dangle 16 attached to the jacket 12 to hook and hold ornaments O has an ornament O receiving portion 18 and a ornament hanger portion 20. Jacket 12 is a decorative item with a post hole 14 through which a commercial off the shelf earring post P can be inserted. Dangle 16 is a curved member dependent from the jacket 12 and having a receiving portion 18 and a hanger portion 20. As shown in FIG. 5, in an embodiment of the gem finding multi-jacket dangle enhancer 10 with a disk shaped jacket 12 a, the disk shaped jacket 12 a can be behind the ear lobe L, providing additional options in personal decor. As shown in FIG. 6, because of the hook shaped feature of the nature of the gem finding multi-jacket dangle 10 enhancer dangle 16, more than one ornament O can be easily hung “stacked” on the dangle 16. This allows usage of a wide number of hanging ornaments O, which are commercial available with loops H through which the dangle receiving portion 18 inserts. This is a significant advantage over existing items which are provided with hoops, and thus require ornaments with hooks, rather than ornaments with loops H, and which require dangles to be hung in the closed hoop, side by side rather than “stacked” on the hook, O1, O2, O3, as shown in FIG. 6.
  • In use, user takes an earring which has post P and chooses an ornament O to hang from the dangle 16 of the gem finding multi jacket dangle enhancer 10 and inserts the ornament O receiving portion 18 of the dangle 16 through the ornament and slides the ornament O down tot the hanger portion 20 of the dangle 16. The user then inserts the earring post P through the jacket post hole 14, then through the earlobe L, and finally attaches an earring nut N to the post P to secure the earring and enhancer 10 to the earlobe L.
  • It will be appreciated that a user can have a number of different enhancers with differently decorated and shaped jackets 12, 12A. As shown in FIG. 3, one such shape is a flat disk 12A, and in FIG. 2 another such shape is a cupped disk 12. Other shapes and decorative styles are possible. A user will typically try to coordinate the gem G of an earring with the jacket 12 and the ornament O. For example, a pearl gem G could coordinate with a disk shaped jacket 12A, while the ornament O could be dangling diamonds.
  • Those skilled in the art will recognize that numerous modifications and changes may be made to the preferred embodiment without departing from the scope of the claimed invention. It will, of course, be understood that modifications of the invention, in its various aspects, will be apparent to those skilled in the art, some being apparent only after study, others being matters of routine mechanical, chemical and electronic design. No single feature, function or property of the preferred embodiment is essential. Other embodiments are possible, their specific designs depending upon the particular application. As such, the scope of the invention should not be limited by the particular embodiments herein described but should be defined only by the appended claims and equivalents thereof.
