Description
- 1. Field of the Invention
- The present invention relates to golf and more particularly to golf head with three pieces structures provides special specific weight structures
- 2. Description of the Related Art
- The design of the golf head requires the center-gravity as lower as better. Thus, the weight of the top should be as lighter as better and the face should provide a better elastic strength to prevent breaking and push the ball far away also and to deal with the strong stress from hitting a ball.
- The one object of the present invention is to provide golf head with three pieces structures. The top of the golf head is light and the bottom has the character of wear-resisting and center-gravity adjustment and the face provides a better elastic strength. But, the golf head structures need to consider the combination problem between different materials in order to combine different materials to over come the strong stress.
- The other object of present invention is to provide a solution for combining different materials.
- To achieve those objects of the present invention, the golf head in present invention, comprising: A top part makes from light materials with the specific gravity is under 3. The top part provides a neck portion with an axis hole therein for a golf club to plug in. A bottom part mounts under the top part and makes from metals with the specific gravity is over 4. A face part with cup shape has a face and the edge of the face extrudes backward to from a plate potion, the face part mounts in front of the bottom part and the top part and makes from elastic metals like titanium alloy, stainless steel or maraging steel.
- In present invention, there are fillisters and flanges on the connecting portion of every part to enhance the structures.
- The plate portion of present invention was designed as a long thin elastic slice to provide better bending elasticity and reduces the stress to affect the connecting edge. So, this design can makes the structures become more stable thin and light.

FIG. 1 is an appearance view of present invention; -
FIG. 2 is a section view of line 2-2 inFIG. 1 of present invention; -
FIG. 3 is an enlargement view about the portion in the circle ofFIG. 2 of present invention; -
FIG. 4 is a section view of line 3-3 inFIG. 1 of present invention; -
FIG. 5 is almost the same with theFIG. 4 shown the combination structures of present invention further; - A
golf head 10 of the first embodiment of present invention, comprising: - A
top part 20 makes from light materials like engineering polymers, carbon fiber reinforce resin, magnesium alloy or aluminum alloy with the specific gravity is under 3. The top part provides aneck portion 21 with anaxis hole 22 therein for a golf club to plug in. - A
bottom part 30 mounts under thetop part 20 and makes from metals like titanium alloy, stainless steel, normal iron materials, tungsten-nickel alloy by powder metallurgy, tungsten-copper alloy by powder metallurgy or the combination of aforesaid materials with the specific gravity is over 4. - A
face part 40 with cup shape has aface 41 and the edge of theface 41 extrudes backward to from aplate potion 42. Theface part 40 mounts in front of thebottom part 30 and thetop part 20 and makes from elastic metals like titanium alloy, stainless steel or maraging steel. - Referring to
FIG. 2 , there is afillister 23 and aflange 31 that scarf in coordination on the connecting edge of thetop part 20 and thebottom part 30. There arefillisters 24 32 and aflange 43 that scarf in coordination on the connecting edge of theface part 40 and thetop part 20 and thebottom part 30 also. - By the engagement of the fillister and the flange, those parts of present invention can unite with others by brazing or by adhesive like epoxy resin. For example: the
top part 20 makes from the magnesium alloy with shake absorbing function and theface part 40 makes from elastic and light titanium alloy and thebottom part 30 makes from stainless steel with weight and wear-resisting characters. Because the melting point of the magnesium is low, it can not combine with other material by brazing or other normal welding but adhesive. Due to the engagement structures between each part and the neck portion sets on the top part in present invention, the face part will be pressed on the top part and the bottom part by the stress when hitting a ball. Theplate potion 42 will constrain the top part and the bottom part also. This is the reason why the golf head of present invention can combine only with adhesive without breaking problem. Because of this structure, the top part can make from even engineering polymers or carbon fibers reinforce resin and the like to make it lighter. - Referring to
FIG. 3 , the distance W of theplate portion 42 on theface part 40 from theface 41 to the edge of the plate portion is equal or longer than 8 mm and 10 mm is a better distance. The thickness of the plate portion is equal or smaller than 2 mm to make the plate portion become a long and thin elastic slice actually. When hitting a ball, theface 41 of theface part 40 will bend inward by the hitting power. This deformation will make theplate portion bend 42 also and influence the connecting edge. On account of the elastic slice design, the plate portion of present invention can provide a larger variation and can reduce the stress to affect the connecting edge relatively. (The stress will not affect the connecting edge directly but affect the plate portion to bend first. This is the reason why the face part needs to apply not that rigidity structures design but that elastic structures design.) This design can make the connecting edge hard to break further and make the top part able to apply thinner and lighter structures and also prevent to use thickness and weight structures. This design can enhance the elastic structures of golf head further and makes the golf head provide a better shake absorbing character. There is afillister 24 on the edge of thetop part 20 in present invention and the thickness S between the outside surface of the top part and the wall of the fillister is less than 3 mm. The thickness S in this embodiment is 1.5 mm and theplate 42 will not break under this thickness by the elastic slice design. - Referring to
FIG. 4 , du to the top part makes from light materials, atube 25 can plug into theaxis hole 22 to enhance partial structures. Thetube 25 can make form aluminum alloy, magnesium alloy, titanium alloy, stainless steel or engineering polymer. - Referring to
FIG. 5 , in order to enhance the combination strength of thetop part 20 and thebottom part 30 further, ajoin portion 33 can set on the bottom part correspondingly the neck portion of thetop part 20. Abolt 50 can plug through apassing hole 26 that locates in the bottom of theaxis hole 22 in advance and screws to ahole 34 with threads on thejoin portion 33 to secure thetop part 20 and thebottom part 30. So, thebottom part 30 can connect with the golf club. Thus, partial of the stress that affects on the bottom part can deliver through the bolt connecting portion to the golf club when the golf head hits the ground and reduce the stress that affects on the connecting edge of the bottom part and the top part.
