The machine is used for exercising a person's inner and outer thighs, the leg and abdominal muscles. A stand is provided for supporting the exercise machine when performing a bun kick.
Description
- Various portable exercising devices have been proposed for exercising various muscles in a person's body; such as, the bun and thigh muscles. Many of these devices have been characterized by their limited portability due to the construction and weight of the device and the relatively laborious process of varying the resistive force built into the device.
- After considerable research and experimentation, the exercise machine of the present invention has been devised to overcome the disadvantages experienced in prior portable exercising devices, whereby the machine is relatively light to facilitate its portability and the resistance forces can be easily adjusted to accommodate various users. The portable exercise device of the present invention comprises, essentially, an elongated tube having a pair of bolsters or handles fixedly attached to each end thereof. A third pair of bolsters is positioned intermediate the ends of the elongated tube and is slidably mounted on the tube in a reciprocatory movement relative to the pairs of bolsters at each end of the tube. Resistance elements are connected between the third pair of bolsters and the tube to resist the pushing or pulling of the third pair of bolsters.
- The exercise machine is detachably connected to a stand or cradle for supporting the exercise machine on the floor to facilitate the exercising of the buttock muscles.

carriage 6 comprises a piston having a plurality of axially extendingpartitions forming chambers 6 a. One end of eachchamber 6 a communicates with arespective socket 6 b provided in one end of thecarriage 6 and the opposite end of each chamber communicates with aslot 6 c formed by radially inwardly and outwardly extendingflanges Elastic straps 7 are contained within thetube 2 to provide the desired resistance to the movement of thebolster 5 from the position shown inFIG. 6 to the position shown inFIG. 7 . Eachelastic strap 7 has acollar 7 a fixedly connected to one end thereof and received in arespective socket 6 b in thecarriage 6. The opposite end of eachstrap 7 also has acollar 7 b fixedly connected thereto. A transversely extendingpartition 8 is fixedly connected to the interior wall of thetube 2 and is provided withslots 8 a, as shown inFIG. 3 , for receiving the corresponding end portion of arespective strap 7 and for providing a shoulder for releasably holding thecollar 7 b. - By the construction and arrangement of the pair of
