Abstract

An improved purse having the capability of easily and quickly being transformed in appearance of color, texture and mood on the surface of its exterior by use of interchangeable panels of selected material (22) being placed inside the purse's exterior pocket (32). An opening and closure means (28) allows access for the panel of selected material (22) to be inserted into the purse's exterior pocket (32) which then is placed in a closed position to hold said panel of selected material (22) securely in position. A cutout opening in the outermost surface of the pocket (30) allows the panel of selected material (22) to be seen, thus transforming the purse's former surface appearance to that of a new and different appearance in mere seconds without having disturbed the contents inside the purse.

  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of the Invention
  • This invention generally relates to handbags, specifically to the capability of changing the general exterior color of the handbag.
  • 2. Prior Art
  • Previously when women wanted their handbag to coordinate with a selected outfit they would have to empty the contents out of one bag and place them into another more coordinating handbag. It is reported by fashion magazines that the average woman in America owns approximately 12 handbags to coordinate with their outfits. Besides being costly to purchase multiple handbags, the task of transferring ones contents from one bag to another is time consuming. Also women tend to get bored using the same handbag day after day.
  • This invention solves all these problems as this handbags exterior is quickly and easily changed to match any outfit and any mood. By inserting the selected fabric panel into a pocket located on the exterior surface of the handbag the handbag's appearance is changed. No more is the time consuming task of removing contents and replacing them in another bag necessary as the handbag's internal contents remain undisturbed. Also with an endless variety of interchangeable panels available to change the look of a woman's handbag she never need be bored. Such a handbag relieves the need to own great numbers of handbags, thus relieving financial strain. For example a woman no longer needs a casual handbag and a dressy one. She now can simply remove, for example, a denim fabric panel that causes her handbag to look casual and replace it with, for example, a shimmering fabric panel to make her handbag appear more formal.
  • BACKGROUND OF INVENTION—OBJECTS AND ADVANTAGES
  • Accordingly, several objects and advantages of my invention are:
      • a: the ease of versatility this handbag offers with its' ability to quickly change its appearance of color, texture and style;
      • b: the ease of changing the exterior appearance of the handbag without disturbing the contents inside;
      • c: the saving of money by being able to use the same handbag for every occasion;
      • d: the obvious never bored with this handbag factor as it can be changed in mere seconds by use of an endless selection of panels;
      • e: further excitement with this handbag is that friends, sisters and neighbors could enjoy sharing and exchanging panels to transform their handbags.
    SUMMARY
  • In accordance with the invention by use of interchangeable panels of fabric being inserted into the exterior pocket of the handbag, its' exterior appearance is quickly and easily changed to match any outfit or mood. The inserted fabric panel is visible on the exterior of the handbag through a cutout in the pockets outer most surface. The contents of the handbag remain undisturbed. A woman can change her handbag in mere seconds from, for example, casual to dressy, or for example from her handbag matching her beige sweater to one matching her purple shirt.

  • Detailed Description—Preffered Embodiment—FIG. 1
  • FIG. 1 shows a perspective view of a basic version of my color changing handbag. The main body of the handbag 24 has an exterior pocket 32 with an opening and closure means 28 for the exterior pocket 32. A panel of selected material 22 having been created to fit said pocket in size and shape and having been stiffened if necessary by any means is inserted through the opening of the exterior pocket 26 and secured into place by use of the opening and closure means 28. The panel of selected material 22 becomes visible through the cutout opening in the outermost surface of the exterior pocket 30.
  • Operation—Preferred Embodiment—FIG. 1
  • The manner of using this invention is as follows: the opening and closure device 28 of the exterior pocket 32 is brought to be in an open position. Next a panel of selected material 22 which conforms to said pocket 32 in size and shape is placed into the opening of the exterior pocket 26. The opening and closure device 28 is placed in a closed position. The panel of selected material 22 becomes visible through the cutout opening in the outermost surface of the pocket 30.
  • CONCLUSIONS, RAMIFICATIONS, AND SCOPE
  • Accordingly, the reader will see that, according to the invention, I have provided a purse/handbag with the capability of quickly and easily being transformed in its appearance of color to match any outfit or mood. For the first time a woman doesn't have to change contents from one bag to another in order to have her purse match her outfit. It is more cost effective to own one purse that can do the job of many. It is also fun to have the capability of changing the overall look of ones handbag from moment to moment.
  • While the above description contains many specificities, these should not be construed as limitations on the scope of the invention, but as exemplifications of the presently preferred embodiments thereof. Many other ramifications and variations are possible within the teachings of the invention. For example this technique of using interchangeable panels of material to change the exterior look of a purse can also be used to change the exterior looks of briefcases, backpacks, luggage pieces, wallets cosmetic bags, laptop bags, and checkbook covers. The above items can be created from any material in any size or shape. Selected panels of material, for insertion, can be created from any material, from fabric, stiffened by any means if necessary for rigidity, to metal. These panels can also be created in any size or shape suitable. Also the zipper being shown in my example can be replaced with any hook and loop fastener or any means of securing the selected panel of material into the correct position.
  • Accordingly, the scope of the invention should be determined not by the embodiment illustrated, but by the appended claims and their legal equivalents.
