Abstract
The proposed invention is single entity that combines the utility of a typical shot glass drinking vessel with the utility of a bottle cap top. The shape and size of the proposed invention is preferably similar to that of a shot glass drinking vessel.
Description
- The present invention relates generally to devices for capping a bottle.
- Bottles are typically closed by a small cap. In particular, alcohol bottles typically have small cap tops. These cap tops are used to seal liquid into the bottle. These cap tops cannot be used for drinking from the bottle.
- Some canisters have tops that you can drink out of. For example, a thermos typically has a cup on top that can be used to hold coffee or soup. These cups typically do not function as cap tops in that they do not actually touch the liquid or seal the liquid into the canister. There is typically a separate cap on the canister that seals in the liquid.
- Bottle cap tops generally serve the sole function of sealing liquid into the bottle. Generally, bottle cap tops seal liquid in the container by fastening the bottle cap top to the bottle with threads on the interior of the bottle cap top and counterpart threads on the exterior of the bottle's mouth that interlock to create a watertight seal. Generally, bottle cap tops are plastic or metal.
- Thus, there is a need for a device which can simultaneously be used as a drinking vessel and a bottle cap top.
- In a first embodiment, a bottle cap is disclosed. The bottle cap preferably comprises a cylindrical liquid holding device and a connection for a bottle.
- In another embodiment, a method of manufacturing a bottle cap is disclosed. The method comprises providing a drinking vessel and constructing a plurality of threads within the vessel, wherein the threads receive a bottle.
- The present disclosure may be better understood and its numerous features and advantages made apparent to those skilled in the art by referencing the accompanying drawings.
-
FIG. 1 is a view of a bottle cap with a drinking vessel. - In a preferred embodiment, a shot glass with a built-in bottle cap top is disclosed. The proposed invention is a single entity that combines the utility of a typical shot glass drinking vessel with the utility of a bottle cap top. The shape and size of the proposed invention is preferably similar to that of a shot glass drinking vessel. The proposed invention serves the same function as a shot glass drinking vessel, and also the function of a typical bottle cap top. Embedded in the interior of the base of the drinking vessel are the interior threads of a typical bottle cap top. In the same way that a traditional bottle cap top seals liquid into a bottle by fastening itself to counterpart threads on the exterior of the bottle's mouth to create a liquid tight seal, so to does the proposed invention presented here. In sum, the proposed invention is preferably a single entity that is a shot glass drinking vessel and a bottle cap top.
- In reference to
FIG. 1 , a shot glass drinking vessel/bottle cap top 5 is seen. Within the vessel, threads 10 can be seen in the interior of the base of the shot glass drinking vessel/bottle cap top 5. Thethreads 10 fasten the shot glass drinking vessel/bottle cap top 5 to the mouth of a bottle. Preferably, thethreads 10 form a watertight seal with the bottle. The shot glass drinking vessel/bottle cap top 5 is a cylindrical liquid holding device. While closing the bottle with threads is used in a preferred embodiment, skilled practitioners will appreciate that the bottle can be closed using other closing methods. - The preferred materials of the shot glass drinking vessel/bottle cap are plastic, metal, and glass. In a preferred embodiment, the shot glass can hold at least 1.5 fluid ounces, the typical size of a shot of alcohol.
