Abstract
A method for playing a letter acting game with at least three players. The game may include the following steps; selecting two players to be the letter forming players; selecting a category of a challenge phrase or trivia question by spinning a spinner; selecting a card from at least one card deck and reading the challenge phrase or trivia question from selected category; forming the shape of each letter in the challenge phrase or trivia answer by the letter forming players for observance by the other players, wherein each letter is shaped by combining the body positions of the two letter forming players; guessing the challenge phrase or trivia answer by the other players by sequentially assembling the formed letters; allocating points for successfully guessing the challenge phrase or trivia answer and in bonus play the answers to the challenge phrases.
Description
- This application claims priority from U.S. provisional application 60/803,907 filed Jun. 5, 2006 under the title LETTER ACTING GAME, filed by Brad Gris.
- The present invention relates to games, and more particularly relates to a letter acting game in which players form the shape of each letter by combining the body positions of two letter forming players.

FIG. 6 is a top plan view of a word sheet. -
FIG. 7 is a top plan view of a score card. -
FIG. 8 is a flow chart of the basic game steps. - One embodiment is a method for playing a letter acting game having at least three players, wherein the game includes the following components, namely a spinner having a
spinner base 102 having depicted thereon sixcategories 104. The game further includes at least one set of cards and often two sets of cards. The first set of cards being a pre 1990 card set, and the second set of cards being a post 1990 card set.FIG. 2 for example shows acard 107 being a pre 1990card 108 having afront face 110 and aback face 112 shown inFIG. 3 .FIG. 4 for example also shows acard 107 being a post 1990card 114 having afront face 116 and aback face 118 as shown inFIG. 5 . The game also includes aword sheet 120 having a number of rows printed thereon 122 and having one column being acategory column 124 for recordation of thecategory 104 derived from thespinner base 102.Word sheet 120 also includes achallenge phrase column 126, wherein the players begin to write down the challenge phrase that is being acted out by the letter forming players. The game also includes ascore card 130 having aname column 132 and tenscore columns 134. Thescore card 130 is further divided into agirls section 140 and aguys section 142. The cards display phrases on thefront side 110 which are either achallenge phrase 109 or atrivia question 111. On the back side the card display corresponding answers to the phrases shown on the front side. These answers are used to win bonus points. The card shown inFIG. 2 displays five phrases, four of which arechallenge phrases 109 and onetrivia question 111. Other combinations are possible. - Referring now to
FIG. 8 , the steps of play are as follows. - Selecting a
partner 200. - Spinning the spinner which randomly selects a
category 202. - Take a card out of a box either a pre 1990 or a
post 1990card 204. - Read the phrase silently which is corresponding to the category selected by the
spinner 206. - If the category and phrase is a trivia question 111 (as indicated by the spinner), then the letter forming players must spell out the answer to the trivia question by shaping letters one at a time by combining the body positions of the two letter forming partners to spell out the answer to the trivia question 111-208. If the category is not trivia
question 111 the letter forming players spell out the challenge phrase by shaping letters by combining the body positions of the two letter forming partners. The answer to the trivia question may be a word, multiple words, a sentence or simply a series of letters. - Telling the other players the number of
words 210. - If the category and phrase is a challenge phrase 109 (all other categories on spinner except trivia question) then the letter forming players must spell out the
challenge phrase 109 by shaping letters one at a time by combining the body positions of the two letter forming partners to spell out the challenge phrase 109-212. The challenge phrase may be a word, multiple words, a sentence or simply a series of letters. - The first observing player to shout out “got it” will write down the letter on their
word sheet 120, at which time the letter forming players will continue the game play by acting out the next letter in thesame challenge phrase 109 or triviaanswer 111. Once one of the observing players thinks that he/she knows the entire challenge phrase ortrivia answer 111, he/she can yell out thechallenge phrase 109 or triviaanswer 111 until one of the observing players correctly guesses the challenge phrase. The bonus play occurs when the observing players can yell out their answers to the challenge phrase. This occurs until one of the observing players guesses the correct answer —214, 216. - Points are allocated on the score card —218.
- The person correctly guessing the challenge phrase can choose an observing player to be a letter forming partner in the next round —220.
- The essential steps of the method of play for the letter acting game are as follows:
- There must be at least three players available in order to begin the letter acting game.
- Two players are selected to be the letter forming players from those that are available.
- A category of a phrase is selected by spinning a spinner.
- A card is selected from at least one card deck and the appropriate phrase is read from the selected category.
- If the phrase is a challenge phrase the letter forming players form the shape of each letter in the challenge phrase. If the phrase is a
trivia question 111 the answer to the trivia question is acted out by the letter forming players forming the shape of each letter in the answer to thetrivia question 111. Each letter is shaped individually by combining the body positions of the two letter forming players. Only the two letter forming players must together connect and shape their bodies in order to form the appropriate letter. The letters in each word are acted out sequentially until all the letters have been acted out or until someone correctly guesses the phrase namely thechallenge phrase 109 or the answer to thetrivia question 111. - The remaining players must guess the
challenge phrase 109 or answer to thetrivia question 111 acted out by the letter forming players by sequentially assembling the formed letters together on their word sheets. - The player that correctly guesses the
challenge phrase 109 or answer to thetrivia question 111 is allocated points and he then is able to select a new partner for continuance of play. There are bonus points awarded to the first observing player who correctly guesses the corresponding answer to achallenge phrase 109. No bonus points for correctly answering thetrivia question 111.
