Abstract
Disclosed is a waist and leg exerciser, which includes two arched track boards each defining a circularly arched sliding slot, a link, which has two distal ends respectively coupled to and movable along the circularly arched sliding slots of the arched track boards, a seat supported on the link, and two cables for alternatively pulling the two distal ends of the link along the circularly arched sliding slots of the arched track boards to cause the seat to move in an 8-shaped action.
Description
- 1. Field of the Invention
- The present invention relates to a physical exercising machine and more particularly, to a waist and leg exerciser.
- 2. Description of the Related Art
- Various physical exercising machines are commercially available for different exercise purposes. These conventional physical exercising machines are designed to exercise different parts of the body in one single direction, not capable of causing a twisting action.
- The present invention has been accomplished under the circumstances in view. It is the main object of the present invention to provide a waist and leg exercise, which causes an 8-shaped motion to twist the user's waist and hips.
- According to one embodiment of the present invention, the waist and leg exerciser comprises a machine base, an upright handle and an upright shaft respectively vertically provided at the front and rear sides of the machine base, a bracket fixedly provided at the top side of the upright shaft, two pedals bilaterally pivotally mounted on the machine base near the upright handle, two arched track boards supported above the upright shaft, each arched track board defining a circularly arched sliding slot, a link, which has two distal ends respectively coupled to and movable along the circularly arched sliding slots of the arched track boards, a seat supported on the link, and two cables respectively extending over a number of pulleys and connected between the pedals and two pull shafts for alternatively pulling the two distal ends of the link along the circularly arched sliding slots of the arched track boards to cause the seat to move in a 8-shaped action during pedaling of the pedal by the user. Further, in an alternate form of the present invention, a motor is used to rotate a cam to further causes the seat to move in an 8-shaped action.

FIG. 10 is a schematic drawing showing the waist and leg exerciser of the second embodiment of the present invention installed in a chair. - Referring to FIGS. 1˜5, a waist and leg exerciser in accordance with the present invention is shown comprising a
machine base 1, anupright handle 11 provided at the front side of themachine base 1, anupright shaft 12 vertically provided at the rear side of themachine base 1, abracket 13 fixedly provided at the top side of theupright shaft 12, twopedals 14 bilaterally pivotally mounted on themachine base 1 near the bottom side of theupright handle 11, twofirst pulleys 15 respectively pivoted to thepedals 14, two locatingpins 16 bilaterally fastened to theupright shaft 12 near themachine base 1, and twosecond pulleys 17 and twothird pulleys 18 symmetrically pivotally mounted on the bottom side of thebracket 13. - A
holder frame 2 is provided at the top side of thebracket 13. Twofourth pulleys 23 are bilaterally pivotally mounted in theholder frame 2. Twoadjustment rods 21 are respectively installed in the front and rear sides of theholder frame 2. Twoknobs 22 are respectively affixed to theadjustment rods 21 outside theholder frame 2. - Two
arched track boards 3 are provided inside theholder frame 2, each having a circularly arched slidingslot 31. Alink 4 is provided having twoaxle bearings 41 respectively disposed at the two distal ends and respectively coupled to the circularly arched slidingslots 31 of thearched track boards 3. Abearing plate 5 is mounted on the top side of theholder frame 2, having a plurality ofaxle bearings 51 provided at the top side to support aseat frame 6 to hold aseat 7. Thesear frame 6 has acenter steam 61 axially coupled to theupright shaft 4, and twopull shafts 62 disposed at two sides relative to thecenter stem 61. - Two
cables 8 are respectively extending in proper order over thefourth pulleys 23, thesecond pulleys 17, thethird pulleys 18 and thefirst pulleys 15, each having one end respectively fastened to thepull shafts 62 and the other end respectively fastened to the locatingpins 16. - When in use, the user is sitting on the
seat 7 and holding theupright handle 11 with both hands, and then alternatively pedaling thepedals 14 with the legs. When pedaling thepedals 14, thecables 8 are alternatively stretched and released to move thepull shafts 62 along the circularly archedsliding slots 31 of thearched track boards 3, causing theseat 7 to move in an 8-shaped action, and therefore the user's waist and hips are twisted. Because the user keeps pedaling thepedals 14 during operation, the muscles of the legs are well exercised. - FIGS. 7˜10 show an alternate form of the present invention. According to this embodiment, the waist and leg exerciser comprises a
mount 9, twopulleys 911 bilaterally pivotally mounted in themount 9, twotrack boards 3 respectively mounted in the front and rear sides of themount 9 and defining a respective circularly arched slidingslot 31, alink 4 coupled between the circularly archedsliding slots 31 of thetrack boards 3, acover plate 91 covered on themount 9, acam 90 pivotally supported on thecover plate 91 with an axle bearing 92, atransmission wheel 93 pivoted to thecover plate 91, amotor 95, atransmission belt 94 coupled between the output shaft of themotor 95 and thetransmission wheel 93, twopull shafts 62, tworollers 96, and twocables 97 respectively extending over thepulleys 911 and connected between thepull shafts 62 and therollers 96. - When started the
motor 95 to rotate thetransmission belt 96, thecam 90 is rotated to move thepull shafts 62, thereby causing the seat 7 a to move in an 8-shaped action. - A prototype of waist and leg exerciser has been constructed with the features of FIGS. 1˜10. The waist and leg exerciser functions smoothly to provide all of the features discussed earlier.
- Although particular embodiments of the invention have been described in detail for purposes of illustration, various modifications and enhancements may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.
Claims (5)
1. A waist and leg exerciser comprising two arched track boards, said arched track boards each defining a circularly arched sliding slot;
a link, said link having two distal ends respectively coupled to and movable along the circularly arched sliding slots of said arched track boards;
a seat supported on said link; and
two cables adapted to alternatively pull the two distal ends of said link along the circularly arched sliding slots of said arched track boards.
2. The waist and leg exerciser as claimed in claim 1 , further comprising a seat frame supporting said seat on said link, said seat frame having a center shaft pivoted to said link and two pull shafts disposed at two sides relative to said center shaft and respectively holding a first end of one of said two cables, a base frame, and two pedals bilaterally pivoted to said base frame respectively holding a second end of one of said two cables for pedaling by the user to stretch said cables.
3. The waist and leg exerciser as claimed in claim 1 , wherein said seat frame is mounted on a bearing plate, which is fixedly mounted with a holder frame that supports said track boards.
4. The wait and leg exerciser as claimed in claim 1 , further comprising an upright shaft fixedly provided at said base frame and adapted to support said seat frame, and a plurality of pulleys respectively symmetrically pivoted to said upright shaft and said bearing plate to guide said cables.
5. A waist and leg exerciser comprising mount, two pulleys bilaterally pivotally mounted in said mount, two track boards respectively mounted in front and rear sides of said mount, said track boards each defining a circularly arched sliding slot, a link coupled between the circularly arched sliding slots of said track boards, a cover plate covered on said mount, a cam pivotally supported on said cover plate with an axle bearing, a transmission wheel pivoted to said cover plate, a motor, a transmission belt coupled between an output shaft of said motor and said transmission wheel, two pull shafts, two rollers, and two cables respectively extending over said pulleys and connected between said pull shafts and said e rollers.
