Abstract

The Bad News concealment Holster allows a licensed person to use a newspaper in a plastic delivery bag to conceal a handgun for legal self-defense. The handgun will be secured in nylon sleeve holster, by a retention strap with a pull tab release using hook & loop to attach the strap and to secure the holster to the metallic belt. The metallic belt will be placed around a section of the newspaper, for example, the sports section, this is then slid back into the remaining newspaper that is in a delivery bag, and adjusted by the user to allow access to the firearm through the open end of the paper and bag. By using a newspaper to discreetly conceal a legal handgun for licensed self defense, a persons firearm may be accessable but not in plain view as required by many states concealed carry laws. For lagal carry in a vehicle, briefcase etc. the Bad News Concealment Holster will give a legal, licensed person a different and unique option for concealed carry.

Description

    SPECIFICATION
  • The Bad News Concealment Holster is designed to use a newspaper folded in a delivery bag to conceal a handgun by a licensed person. A handgun holster made of a synthetic nylon material with hook & loop fastener attached to both sides will then be attached to a metallic belt with a section of hook and loop on the front surface of the belt. The metallic belt will be made of a thin gauge sheet metal and will be folded flat with a open back section that will over-lap 2 inches, with hook & loop on each open end for removal and adjustment. The folded belt with holster attached will then be secured to a section of newspaper that would be folded over the holster. This section of newspaper with belt and holster attached is then slid into the center section of the remaining folded newspaper in it's delivery bag.
  • To use the Bad News Concealment Holster, first remove a newspaper from the delivery wrapper and discard loose material [sale adds] and seperate newspaper into two equal sections. Attach the belt with holster to one section of the paper and fold paper over the holster. Place the remaining portion of newspaper back into it's delivery bag and insert the section with holster into the open center with the folds of the newspaper opposite each other. A handgun secured in the holster by the nylon retension strap could be accessed by grasping the pull tab to release the hook & loop fastener and then removing the handgun.
  • The nylon holster will have loop fastener on both sides to allow right or left hand use and adjustment. The nylon retention strap with pull tab will be removable and secure to the holster by the same hook fastener. The holsters will be made in small, medium and large sizes including models to accept light/laser units. The metallic belt will be a thin gauge sheet metal material 26 to 28 inches long and 3 inches wide, A 3 by 4 inch section of hook fastener will be attached to the front of the belt by adhiesives.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • Having been a Firearms Instructor since 1992, I, Mark A. Lee have worked with many holsters designed for concealed carry of handguns for both law enforcement and licensed civilian use. This holster concept will fill the need for a person not wishing to physically wear a concealed handgun, but have it about and accessible if needed, descreetly concealed. Clients requesting advice on how to carry in automobiles, briefcases etc. led to the development of the design submitted for patent.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The Bad News Concealment Holster does not re-invent the handgun holster, hook & loop fastener, sheet metal, or newspaper in a bag. This invention combines these items to create a new concealment system allowing a licensed person to have a handgun accessible, and discreetly concealed.
  • This concealment holster will allow a person a means to carry, store, transport a handgun in a manner that would be hidden from the plain view by a newspaper in a delivery bag.
  • Many handguns are stollen from vehicles, these guns are taken from glove box, center console or under the seat. A gun secured in the Bad News Concealment Holster, placed on the floorboard or seat may go un-detected preventing a theft.
  • DRAWING SPECIFICATIONS
  • Page 1—FIG. A
  • This drawing shows a frontal view of the sheet metal belt that is formed to wrap around a section of newspaper. The shaded area will be the piece of “hook” fastener, as in the hook and loop type, attached by adhiesive backing to the sheet metal belt. This allows the attachment of the holster. (FIG. A, B and C shown without holster.)
  • Page 1—FIG. B
  • FIG. B attempts to show the rear view of the sheet metal belt that over-laps by 2 inches. This over-lap will have hook and loop fastener attached by adhiesive backing to the sheet metal strap ends, allowing removal and adjustment.
  • Page 1—FIG. C
  • FIG. C is an areial or top view looking down onto the side edges of the sheet metal belt. The shaded areas show the rear adjustment point and holster attachment point in hook & loop fastener.
  • Page 2—FIG. D
  • FIG. D shows the nylon handgun holster. The shaded area on the holster will be “loop” type fastener attached to both sides to allow attachment to the metallic belt and secure the retention strap, with pull tab, that holds the handgun in the holster.

  • FIG. E shows a view of the nylon holster with strap attached to the sheet metal belt.
  • Page 3—FIG. F
  • FIG. F Show the Bad News Concealment Holster and handgun wrapped around a section of newspaper. The paper would then be folded over to conceal the handgun and holster as indicated by the arrows.

  • FIG. G shows the section of newspaper with holster (segmented or dashed lines) is then inserted back into the remaining portion of newspaper and plastic delivery bag, concealed from plain view.

Claims (1)

1. There are many handgun holster designs in production today, but this invention is the only system that uses a newspaper to discreetly conceal a handgun by a licensed person. The claim of invention is not the nylon holster, hook & loop fastener, newspaper or sheet metal. The claim of invention is that, when fabricated and assembled to specifications listed, a common newspaper in a plastic delivery bag can be used, by a licensed person to conceal a handgun for legal self-defense.
