Description

    BACKGROUND
  • 1. Field of Invention
  • This invention relates to writing tool storage and carrying devices, and more particularly to such devices that are mounted to a book cover by means of a clipping mechanism.
  • 2. Description of Prior Art
  • Many people read books, especially students and professionals. In many cases, these people underline text, or make notations on the pages of the book with a writing tool such as a pen or pencil. Writing tools tend to be small in size, and are easy to lose. Many carry their pens and/or pencils in purses or other bags, and at times in pockets in their clothing. These solutions offer further obstacles. In the case of purses and bags, it may be hard to locate a pen, which tends to fall to the bottom and become obscured by larger objects. Storing a pen or pencil in a pocket may cause damage to the article of clothing. Damage can occur from ink leaking into the garment, or from the tip of the pen or pencil cutting a hole on the fabric. At times, people may find themselves in a situation where they are carrying no purse or bag, and their clothes have no pockets either. For example, people who like to read while working out at the gym don't carry bags and their clothing is unlikely to have pockets. Yet many still carry a pen with them to make notes as they read. Whereas they may have some kind of holster for a cell phone, they are likely to lack such a device for their writing tool.
  • In the area of pouches and holsters, writing tools have been overlooked. Preference has been given to high tech electronics, guns, and miscellaneous objects. Inventions in this area provide pouches or holsters that people can attach to their clothing. But these devices do not easily allow for the easy and safe transport and storage of a writing tool.
  • The Pen Pouch provides a solution to this problem. This pouch enables readers to easily carry their writing tools along with their books and notebooks without the need of purses, bags, or pockets.
  • Object and Advantages
  • Accordingly, several objects and advantages of my invention are that 1) it provides a safe way to transport a writing tool without the need of purses, bags or pockets. 2) It enables users to safely store a pen with their book, so they are no longer required to search for a writing tool when using such book. 3) My invention also provides a safe alternative to fragile pen clips since these are easy to break, and are thus unreliable to hold a pen to a book or notebook.
  • Currently, no solutions exist in the market to safely secure a pen to a book or notebook. This is very inconvenient to readers because they have to rely on purses, bags or pockets to carry their writing instruments. But these also provide the added hurdle of having to locate the pen or pencil within the purse or bag. In addition, they could potentially damage a piece or garment if stored in a pocket.
  • Further objects and advantages of my invention will become apparent from a consideration of the drawings and ensuing description.
  • DRAWING FIGURES
  • In the drawings, components that are repeated have the same number.
  • FIG. 1 describes the parts of the invention. These parts are presented in a top and lateral views.
  • FIG. 2 describes the invention in operation attached to the cover of a book or notebook.
  • FIG. 3 describes the invention by itself.

  • SUMMARY
  • In accordance with the present invention a pen pouch comprises of a pouch, a u-shaped clip, and an attachment means.
  • Description of Invention—FIGS. 1 to 3
  • FIG. 1
  • The invention is composed of a front pouch segment 1, a clip element 3, and a rear pouch segment 2. The front and rear pouch elements 1 and 2 can be leather, fabric, metal, plastic, or any other pouch or holster making material. The clip 3 can be metal, plastic or any other clip making material.
  • The front and rear pouch segments 1 and 2 are joined while they sandwich and hold in place the clip 3. The joining method could be gluing, stitching, sewing, soldering, compressing, or any joining technique.
  • FIG. 3
  • This is an image of the stand alone invention.
  • Operation of Invention
  • General Operation—FIG. 2
  • This invention securely holds a pen, pencil or similar oblong objects to books and notebooks. This is done by a clip 3. The clip holds the pouch securely on the cover of a book or notebook. In the pouch holds a pen, pencil or similar oblong objects within, making it easier to store and transport them along with the book or notebook.
  • Summary, Ramifications, Scope
  • Although the description above contains many specifities, these should not be construed as limiting the scope of the invention but as merely providing illustrations of some of the presently preferred embodiments of this invention. For example, the clip 3 could be replaced by a different clipping or attaching mechanism. Also, the pouch element could be repeated enabling the storage and transport of more than one pen, pencil or oblong objects. The pouch could also be clipped to a belt or a pocket, instead of only to a book or notebook. Thus, the scope of the invention should be determined by the appended claims and their legal equivalents, rather than by the examples given.
