Abstract

This quiver assembly comprises an archery quiver and a hanger consisting of a shaped bracket which attaches to the quiver. An embodiment of the present invention consists of a screw eye or utility hook with the aforementioned archery hanger for the purpose of hanging the quiver on a surface such as a tree with limbs that are out of reach or a wall where the top is too wide or out of the archer's reach. The quiver assembly includes a light-weight, inexpensive quiver hanger that can be attached to a tree trunk or branch. Since the hanger forms a part of the quiver, a hunter does not have to carry an extra piece of equipment. Nor does the hanger and quiver interfere with the bow.

Description

TECHNICAL FIELD

This invention relates to a hanger mounted on an archery quiver. The combination is a field mount for arrow quivers.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

On the archery range and in hunting, the quiver is not constantly in use. Quiver hangers are desirable for allowing the archer free use of his hands and for providing a means for putting the quiver aside without laying it against a tree where it can be damaged if it falls or placing it on the ground which brings the quiver in contact with leaves, twigs, dirt, bark, and mud.
A quiver is a type of carrying case used by an archer to hold a supply of arrows. An archer should be able to quickly and easily insert arrows into the quiver. More importantly the archer must be able to quickly and easily remove the arrows, as needed, such as when encountering a quarry.
Most conventional quivers have an elongate stand with a protective hood on one end and a notched relatively hard plastic bar to hold the shaft of the arrows near the fletched end. Usually the hood is filled with some type of foam-like product and the arrows are held at one end by inserting the arrowhead in the foam and then vertically displacing the arrow shaft within a notch in the bar to hold the other end of the arrow.
Many quiver mounts are configured for attachment to a bow. However, a disadvantage with the quiver mounts heretofore known is that the positioning of the arrows with respect to the bow is dependent upon the mounting bracket and the manner in which it attaches to the bow, and not the convenience of the archer.
Therefore, a need exists for a new and improved archery quiver hanger that can be used for conveniently hanging a quiver in a vertical direction. In this regard, the present invention substantially fulfills this need. In this respect, the archery quiver hanger according to the present invention substantially departs from the conventional concepts and designs of the prior art. In doing so, the quiver hanger provides an apparatus primarily developed for the purpose of hanging an archery quiver to provide free use of the hands for other activities. The quiver hanger is designed to hang from a surface other than the bow.
Other objects and advantages of the present invention will become apparent to those skilled in the art upon a review of the following detailed description of the preferred embodiments and the accompanying drawings.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention provides an improved archery quiver hanger. The general purpose of the present invention, which will be described subsequently in greater detail, is to provide a new and improved archery quiver hanger.
To attain this, the present invention essentially comprises an archery, quiver and a hanger consisting of a shaped bracket which attaches to the quiver. An embodiment of the present invention consists of a screw eye or utility hook with the aforementioned archery hanger for the purpose of hanging the quiver on a surface such as a tree with limbs that are out of reach or a wall where the top is too wide or out of the archer's reach.
The shaped, bracket or hanger is attached to a quiver for holding plurality of arrows. The hanger or mounting member holds the quiver in a vertical position. The hanger and quiver for a quiver assembly and may have a two-piece construction with fasteners holding the hanger on the quiver. An alternative embodiment is forming the hanger and quiver in a one-piece construction such as by molding.
The present invention provides a light-weight, inexpensive quiver hanger that can be attached to a tree without tools, is sturdy enough to support the heaviest quiver. Since the hanger forms a part of the quiver, a hunter does not have to carry an extra piece of equipment. Nor does the hanger and quiver interfere with the bow. The hanger of this invention is sold under the trademark Treelimb™ and is available from Treelimb Products, LLC.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

FIG. 1 is a perspective view of an archery quiver hanger according to this invention. Hanger 10 is a mounting member which may have a variety of shapes. FIG. 1 shows hanger 10 having two ends, 12 and 14. Preferably, hanger 10 is formed as a flat, U-shaped member. Ends 12 and 14 form an open, bottom end 16. Closed, top end 18 forms the U-shape. Closed, top end 18 typically is the mid-point of hanger 10. Holes 20 are formed in ends 12 and 14 for securing hanger 10 to an archery quiver.
FIG. 2 is a perspective view of an archery quiver hanger kit including the hanger of FIG. 1. Hanger 10 is shown with screws 22 and utility hook 24. Screws 22 pass through holes 20 and secure hanger 10 to an archery quiver. As will be shown in FIG. 4, utility hook 24 is secured to a tree, branch or other surface.
FIG. 3 is a rear partial cutaway view showing the hanger of FIG. 1 attached to an archery quiver. Hanger 10 is shown secured to archery quiver 26 forming quiver assembly 28. Assembly 28 includes quiver frame (not shown) and includes top section or hood 30. Preferably, hanger 10 is secured to top section 30 with screws 22. Holes (not shown) in top section 30 preferably are pre-drilled for receiving screws 22. Can also be used on fixed non removable quivers for hanging the hunters entire bow.
FIG. 4 is a front partial cutaway view of a hanger and quiver installed on a tree. Quiver assembly 28 of FIG. 3 is shown hanging from tree 40. Utility hook 24 is screwed into tree 40 and hanger 10 is placed over hook 24. While tree 40 is shown, hook 24 can be screwed into a tree branch, post or any other surface. The key is that assembly 28 hangs in an essentially vertical position. Quiver assembly 28 is shown holding arrows 42.
FIG. 5 is a rear partial cutaway view showing the hanger and arrow quiver molded in a one piece construction. Shown is quiver assembly 50 with hanger 10 and archery quiver 26 molded in a one piece construction. Assembly 50 and any of the parts described herein may be made of plastic or metal. The plastics may be thermoset or thermoplastic polymers. The thermoplastic polymers used may be natural substances. However, preferred are synthetics such as polyvinyl chloride, nylons, fluorocarbons, linear polyethylene, polyurethane prepolymer, polystyrene, polypropylene, polyester and acrylic resins.

Claims

1. A quiver assembly comprising:

a quiver for holding a plurality of arrows; and

a mounting member attached to the quiver for holding the quiver in a vertical position.

2. A quiver assembly according to claim 1 wherein the mounting member holds the quiver in an elevated and vertical position.

3. A quiver assembly according to claim 1 wherein the quiver includes a quiver frame and the mounting member is attached to the quiver frame.

4. A quiver assembly according to claim 1 wherein the quiver includes a top section and the mounting member is attached to the top section.

5. A quiver assembly according to claim 1 wherein the mounting member is a hanger.

6. A quiver assembly according to claim 5 wherein the hanger has two ends and is formed as a member having a closed, top end and an open bottom end.

7. A quiver assembly according to claim 6 wherein the two ends of the hanger form the bottom open end.

8. A quiver assembly according to claim 7 wherein the two ends of the hanger are attached to the quiver.

9. A quiver assembly according to claim 6 wherein the closed, top end of the hanger has an opening that may engage a utility hook extending from a surface.

10. A quiver assembly according to claim 9 wherein the surface is a tree trunk.

11. A quiver assembly according to claim 9 wherein the surface is a tree branch.

12. A quiver assembly according to claim 1 wherein the quiver includes a hood and fasteners secure the mounting member to the hood.

13. A quiver assembly according to claim 12 wherein the fasteners are a plurality of screws.

14. A quiver assembly according to claim 1 wherein the quiver and mounting member have a unified, one piece construction.

15. A quiver assembly according to claim 1 wherein the quiver and mounting member have a molded unified, one piece construction.
