Description
- 1. Field of the Invention
- The present invention relates to a pocket, especially to a pocket with two sealing ridges.
- 2. Description of the Prior Art
- The term “pocket”0 refers to a container that comprises a containing space and at least one sealing edge.
- With reference to
FIG. 10 , a conventional pocket is used to contain compact disks (CD) and comprises a cover (71), a base (72), a pivotal hinge (73) and a zipper (74). - The cover (71) has an edge.
- The base (72) has an edge corresponding to the edge of the cover (71). An opening is defined between the edges of the cover (71) and the base (72).
- The pivotal hinge (73) is mounted between the edges of the base (72) and the cover (71) to pivotally connect the base (72) with the cover (71).
- The zipper (74) is formed on the edges of the cover (71) and the base (72). The zipper (74) comprises a tab (741) for operating the zipper (74). When the zipper (74) is unfastened, the opening is opened to make the CD inside accessible.
- However, the CD inside the pocket is not accessible until the zipper (74) is totally unfastened, such that the use of the conventional pocket is inconvenient. In addition, the zipper (74) always generates a buzzing sound while the zipper (74) is opened and this is annoying.
- With reference to
FIG. 11 , another conventional pocket attached to a golf bag is used to contain accessories of golf and comprises a base, a side face (82), a cover (83) and a zipper (84). - The base has four sides and is attached to the golf bag.
- The cover (83) extends from one side of the base and has an edge.
- The side face (82) is attached to the base, forms a containing space and has two edges. One of the two edges is attached to the base and surrounds three sides of the base except the side from which the cover (83) extends. The other edge corresponds to the edge of the cover (83). The corresponding edges of the cover (83) and the side face (82) form an opening, and the opening has two edges.
- The zipper (84) is mounted on the edges of the opening. When the zipper is unfastened, the cover (83) opens and make the containing space formed by the side face (82) accessible.
- A buzzing sound is also generated when opening or closing the zipper (84) of the conventional pocket attached to the golf bag. Furthermore, the edges of the opening on which the zipper (84) is mounted are along three sides of the cover (83), such that to fasten or unfasten the zipper (84) along the edges of the opening is difficult.
- With reference to
FIG. 12 , a further conventional pocket attached to a backpack is used to contain personal accessories and comprises a cover (93) and a zipper (94). - The cover (93) has four sides. One side is attached to the backpack, and the other three sides respectively have an edge. An opening is defined in the cover (93) at an edge corresponding to the surface of the backpack. The opening has two edges.
- The zipper (94) is mounted on the edges of the opening. When the zipper (94) is unfastened, the cover (93) opens and make the personal accessories contained in the cover (93) accessible conveniently.
- However, if the cover is not completely closed, the personal accessories easily escape from the pocket and the pocket is not aesthetic in appearance.
- To overcome the shortcomings, the present invention provides a magnetic sealing pocket to mitigate or obviate the aforementioned problems.
- The main objective of the invention is to provide a magnetic sealing pocket that is quiet and easy to use. The magnetic sealing pocket in accordance with the present invention comprises a pocket and two sealing ridges.
- The pocket has an opening. The opening has two edges.
- The two sealing ridge are mounted respectively on the two edges of the opening of the pocket and are used to seal the opening. The two sealing ridges comprise a magnetic material.
- Other objectives, advantages and novel features of the invention will become more apparent from the following detailed description when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.

FIG. 12 is an exploded perspective view of a backpack with a further conventional pocket in accordance with the prior art. - With reference to
FIG. 1 , a first embodiment of a magnetic sealing pocket in accordance with the present invention is a cubic pocket, may be made of cloth and comprises a rectangular base (11), a cover (13) and a side face (12). - The base (11) has four sides.
- The cover (13) extends from one side of the base (11) and has an edge. A tab (132) attaches to a distal portion of the edge.
- The side face (12) has two edges. One is attached to the base (11) and surrounds three sides of the base (11) except the side from which the cover (13) extends. The other edge corresponds to the edge of the cover (13). An opening is defined between the corresponding edges of the cover (13) and the side face (12). The opening has two edges.
- With further reference to
FIGS. 2 and 3 , each edge on the side face (12) and the cover (13) comprises a hollow sealing ridge (121) (131) and a magnetic material (133). The two sealing ridges (121) (131) are used to seal the opening. - The sealing ridges (121) (131) are formed respectively along the corresponding edges on the side face (12) and the cover (13). The ridges (121) (131) may be made of plastic or cloth, preferably made of velvet.
- The magnetic material (133) is made of magnetic powders with gel and is stuffed inside the hollow sealing ridges (121) (131). With the attraction between the magnetic material (133) in the sealing ridges (121) (131), the opening between the side face (12) and the cover (13) is closed.

FIG. 4 , when the tab (132) is pulled, the cover (13) can be partially or completely opened in convenient to make objects contained inside the pocket be accessible. To open the opening throughout the whole edges of the opening is not necessary, so that the use of the pocket is convenient and versatile. - With the magnetic attraction between the magnetic materials (133) inside the sealing ridges (121) (131), the cover (13) will automatically close when the tab (132) on the cover (13) is released. If the cover (13) is completely opened, the distance between the sealing ridges (121) (131) is enlarged. Due to the enlarged distance, the magnetic attraction between the magnetic materials (133) is not powerful enough to close the cover (13) automatically and the pocket is kept at an open condition for the user to conveniently trim or pick the objects inside the pocket. When the cover (13) is slightly pushed near the side face (12), the cover (13) automatically closes the pocket with the attraction of the magnetic material (133).
- With reference to
FIG. 5 , a second embodiment of a magnetic sealing pocket in accordance with the present invention has a structure similar to that of the first embodiment except that - the magnetic material inside the sealing ridge (231) comprises multiple magnetic blocks (233).
- A gap (234) is formed between each pair of adjacent magnetic blocks (233), which makes the ridge (231) bendable and allows the cover (23) to be partially opened.
- With reference to
FIG. 6 , a third embodiment of a magnetic sealing pocket in accordance with the present invention has a structure similar to that of the first embodiment, except that - the third embodiment further comprises a net retainer (341) mounted between the side face (12) and cover (13) to keep the cover (13) from being completely opened.
- With reference to
FIGS. 7A and 7B , a forth embodiment of a magnetic sealing pocket in accordance with the present invention attached to a backpack is used to contain personal accessories and comprises a cover (41), a base (42), a pivotal hinge (43), and two sealing ridges (411) (421). - The cover (41) has an edge.
- The base (42) has an edge corresponding to the edge of the cover (41). An opening is defined between the edges of the cover (41) and the base (42). The opening has two edges.
- The sealing ridges (411) (421) are formed respectively on the edges of the opening. The sealing ridges (411) (421) are hollow and each contains a magnetic material inside. The magnetic material is made of magnetic powders with gel and is stuffed in the sealing ridge (411) (421).
- The pivotal hinge (43) is mounted between the cover (41) and base (42) to pivotally connect the cover (41) with the base (42).
- To open the magnetic sealing pocket, the ridges (411) (421) on the opening have to be pulled away. When the pocket is partially opened, the magnetic attraction of the magnetic material in the sealing ridges (411) (421) draws the cover (41) to close back when the cover (41) is released.
- In addition, the sealing ridges (411) (421) provide a cushion effect to prevent annoying sounds like buzzing noises from occurring.
- As shown in
