Abstract
A nail gun has a body, a nail magazine, a pad supplier and a pad holding device. The pad holding device is mounted between the body and the pad supplier and has a base plate, an outer cap and a holding ring. The base plate is attached to the body, is connected to the pad supplier and has a pad channel and a holding hole. The outer cap has an outlet and a recess. The holding ring is C-shaped, is held inside the recess in the outer cap, aligns with the holding hole and has an inner diameter and an outer diameter. The inner diameter is slightly small than that of the holding hole to make the holding ring partially overlap with the holding hole to allow the holding ring to be expanded inside the recess.
Description
- 1. Field of the Invention
- The present invention relates to a nail gun, and more particularly to a nail gun with a pad holding device that has a simplified structure.
- 2. Description of Related Art
- To keep an object from being broken or damaged due to a huge impact force applied by a nail, a pad is always be simultaneously shot from a nail gun at that time of shooting the nail from the nail gun. The pad can provide a buffering effect to the impact force between the object and the nail to keep the object from being damaged. With reference to
FIGS. 7 and 8 , a nail gun with a pad holding device (60) in accordance with the prior art substantially comprises a body (50), a nail magazine (52), a pad supplier (54) and a pad holding device (60). The body (50) has a muzzle (502) from which a nail is shot. The nail magazine (52) is attached to the body (50) for containing nails inside and communicates with the muzzle (502) in the body (50). The pad supplier (54) connected to the body (50) and contains pads inside. The pad holding device (60) is mounted between the pad supplier (54) and the body (50) to hold one pad to align with the muzzle (502). When a nail is shot from the muzzle (502), the pad held in the pad holding device (60) will be extended by and shot with the nail. The pad holding device (60) comprises a base plate (62), a middle plate (64) and an outer cap (66). The base plate (62) is attached to the body (50) and has a through hole (622) aligning with the muzzle (502). The middle plate (64) is attached to the base plate (62) to define a pad channel between the base plate (62) and the middle plate (64). The middle plate (64) has a holding hole (644) aligning with the through hole (622) in the base plate (62) and the muzzle (502). The outer cap (64) is attached to the middle plate (64) and has an outlet (662) aligning with the holding hole (644) in the middle plate (64) and the through hole (622) in the base plate (62). To keep the pad from escaping from the holding hole (644) and the outlet (642) directly before a nail being shot, the diameter of the holding hole (644) is slight smaller than that of the pad. When a nail is shot from the muzzle (502), the shot nail will extend through the pad and take the pad to pass through the holding hole (644) and the outlet (662) to be shot with the nail. When the pad is shot with the nail, the pad will slightly deformed to allow the pad to pass through the holding hole (644). - Therefore, the diameter of the holding hole (644) must be precise to hold the pad before the pad being shot and to allow the pad to pass through, to manufacturing a nail gun with a pad holding device is time-consuming and costly. In addition, there is not any element between the base plate (62) and middle plate (64) to hold the pad at a fixed location where aligning with the muzzle (502) precisely. The pad in the pad channel will not align with the muzzle (502) and the holding hole (644) when the pad is shot with the nail, and this easily causes the damage of the pad.
- To overcome the shortcomings, the present invention tends to provide a nail gun with a pad holding device to mitigate or obviate the aforementioned problems.
- The main objective of the invention is to provide a nail gun with a pad holding device that has a simplified structure. The nail gun has a body, a nail magazine, a pad supplier and a pad holding device. The body has a muzzle. The nail magazine is attached to the body for containing nails inside. The pad supplier is connected to the body for containing pads inside. The pad holding device is mounted between the muzzle of the body and the pad supplier and has a base plate, an outer cap and a holding ring. The base plate is attached to the muzzle of the body, is connected to the pad supplier and has a pad channel and a holding hole. The pad channel is defined in the base plate. The holding hole communicates with the pad channel, aligns with the muzzle in the body and has a diameter. The outer cap is attached to the base plate, corresponds to the holding hole and has an outlet and a recess. The outlet is defined through the outer cap and aligns with the holding hole in the base plate. The recess is defined in the outer cap at a side facing the base plate, around and communicating with the outlet and has an inner diameter. The holding ring is C-shaped, is held inside the recess in the outer cap, aligns with the holding hole and has an inner diameter and an outer diameter. The inner diameter is slightly small than that of the holding hole to make the holding ring partially overlap with the holding hole. The outer diameter is smaller than the inner diameter of the recess in the outer cap to allow the holding ring to be expanded inside the recess.
- Other objects, advantages and novel features of the invention will become more apparent from the following detailed description when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.

FIG. 8 is an exploded perspective view of the conventional pad holding device inFIG. 7 . - With reference to
FIGS. 1 and 2 , a nail gun in accordance with the present invention comprises a body (10), a nail magazine, a pad supplier (12) and a pad holding device (20). The body (10) has a muzzle (102) from which a nail is shot. The nail magazine is attached to the body (10) for containing nails inside and communicates with the muzzle (102) in the body (10). The pad supplier (12) connected to the body (10) and contains pads inside. The body (10), the nail magazine and the pad supplier (12) may be a conventional one as shown inFIG. 7 , and the detailed structures of the body (10), the nail magazine and the pad supplier (12) is omitted. - The pad holding device (20) is mounted between the muzzle (102) of the body (10) and the pad supplier (12) and comprises a base plate (22), an outer cap (24) and a holding ring (26). The base plate (22) is attached to the muzzle (102) of the body (10), is connected to the pad supplier (12) and has a pad channel (222) defined in the base plate (22) and a holding hole (224). The holding hole (224) communicates with the pad channel (222), aligns with the muzzle (102) in the body (10) and has a diameter. The holding hole (224) has a depth larger than that of the pad channel (222).
- The outer cap (24) is attached to the base plate (22) and corresponds to the holding hole (224). The outer cap (24) has an outlet (242) and a ring recess (244). The outlet (242) is defined through the outer cap (24) and aligns with the holding hole (224) in the base plate (22). The recess (244) is defined in the outer cap (24) at a side facing the base plate (22), is around and communicates with the outlet (242) and has an inner diameter.
- The holding ring (26) is C-shaped, is held inside the recess (244) in the outer cap (24) and aligns with the holding hole (224). The holding ring (26) has an inner diameter slightly small than that of a pad and that of the holding hole (224) to make the holding ring (26) partially overlap with the holding hole (224). The holding ring (26) has an outer diameter smaller than the inner diameter of the recess (244) in the outer cap (24) to allow the holding ring (26) to be expanded inside the recess (244).
- In operation, with further reference to
FIGS. 3 and 4 , a pad (40) is supplied from the pad supplier (12) and is led into the holding hole (224) through the pad channel (222) in the base plate (22). Because the depth of the holding hole (224) is larger than that of the pad channel (222), the pad (40) will be held inside the holding hole (224) at a fixed location to ensure the pad (40) to align with the muzzle (102). With the arrangement of the holding ring (26), the pad (40) is kept from escaping from the outlet (242) directly before a nail is shot. When a nail is shot, the nail will extend through the pad (40) inside the holding hole (224) and take the pad (40) out of the outlet (242) with the nail. When the pad (40) is shot with the nail, the pad (40) will presses against the C-shaped holding ring (26) to expand the holding ring (26) inside the recess (244) so as to allow the pad (40) to pass through the expanded holding ring (26). Accordingly, the pad (40) will not be deformed, and the shot cap (40) can be kept from damaged. - With such a pad holding device (20) in accordance with the present invention, the structure of the pad holding device (20) is simplified, and the cost for manufacturing a nail gun with a pad holding device (20) is lowered.
- With reference to
FIG. 5 , in a second embodiment, the holding ring (26A) has multiple protruding tips (262) extending outward from the holding ring (26A). When the holding ring (26A) is held inside the recess (244) in the outer cap (24), the protruding tips (262) abuts the inner wall of the recess (244) so as to improve the resilience of the holding ring (26A). - With reference to
FIG. 6 , in a third embodiment, the holding ring (26B) has multiple protruding tips (264) extending inward from the holding ring (26B). When one pad (40) is held inside the holding hole (224) in the base plate (22), the pad (24) is held by the protrusion tips (264) on the holding ring (26B). - Even though numerous characteristics and advantages of the present invention have been set forth in the foregoing description, together with details of the structure and function of the invention, the disclosure is illustrative only, and changes may be made in detail, especially in matters of shape, size, and arrangement of parts within the principles of the invention to the full extent indicated by the broad general meaning of the terms in which the appended claims are expressed.
Claims (6)
1. A nail gun comprising:
a body having a muzzle;
a nail magazine attached to the body for containing nails inside;
a pad supplier connected to the body for containing pads inside; and
a pad holding device mounted between the muzzle of the body and the pad supplier and comprising
a base plate attached to the muzzle of the body, connected to the pad supplier and having
a pad channel defined in the base plate; and
a holding hole communicating with the pad channel, aligning with the muzzle in the body and having a diameter;
an outer cap attached to the base plate, corresponding to the holding hole and having
an outlet defined through the outer cap and aligning with the holding hole in the base plate; and
a recess defined in the outer cap at a side facing the base plate, around and communicating with the outlet and having an inner diameter; and
a holding ring being C-shaped, held inside the recess in the outer cap, aligning with the holding hole and having
an inner diameter slightly small than that of the holding hole to make the holding ring partially overlap with the holding hole; and
an outer diameter smaller than the inner diameter of the recess in the outer cap to allow the holding ring to be expanded inside the recess.
2. The scissors as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the holding ring has multiple protruding tips extending outward from the holding ring.
3. The scissors as claimed in claim 2 , wherein the holding hole has a depth larger than that of the pad channel.
4. The scissors as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the holding ring has multiple protruding tips extending inward from the holding ring.
5. The scissors as claimed in claim 4 , wherein the holding hole has a depth larger than that of the pad channel.
6. The scissors as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the holding hole has a depth larger than that of the pad channel.
