Abstract
An adjustable cap seamed with silicon tape(s) is formed of a peak, a crown portion and a sweatband which is provided on the inner side of the crown portion sewn integrally with a silicon tape inside of the lower peripheral edge portion of the crown portion, so that the lower peripheral edge portion can be freely stretched with even gathers formed thereon. Given that the crown portion is made of non-stretchable fabrics which are relatively economical than those stretchable, the cap with stretchable lower peripheral edge not only can fit a range of head sizes, but also can efficiently reduce the production cost.
Description
- 1. Application of the Invention
- The present invention generally relates to an adjustable cap seamed with silicon tape(s), particularly to a crown portion made of non-stretchable fabrics, with a sweatband and a silicon tape sewn together on the inner side of the lower peripheral edge portion, so that the gathers can evenly form on the lower peripheral edge portion. While the cap is being worn, the lower peripheral edge can be freely stretchable to fit a range of head sizes.
- 2. Brief of the Prior Art
- Conventionally, caps include fixed-size caps and adjustable caps. While fixed-size caps require a various sizes of caps to fit wears' different head sizes, the production cost is considerably high. For adjustable caps, generally either an adjustable fastening device or a stretchable band is provided on the rear portion of the crown to increase the range of cap sizes. However, such designs can only increase the size in the rear portion of the crown portion, and either a bump formed on the opening of the rear crown or the odd length of the adjusting fastener (i.e. overly short or long) would affect the aesthetic effect of the cap. In addition, the adjustable caps of prior art can only limitedly fit certain wears' head sizes. As shown in
FIGS. 6 and 7 , the prior art mainly formed of acrown portion 6, apeak 7 sewn with thecrown portion 6, and a plurality ofstretchable elements 61 extended from the top of thecrown 6 to the lower peripheral edge, thereby adjusting thecrown 6 to fit wears' different head sizes. However, the provision of thestretchable elements 61 raises the production cost. - One of the object of the present invention is to provide an adjustable cap which is formed of a sweatband and a silicon tape sewn together inside of the lower peripheral edge portion of the crown portion to form a peripheral band. With the freely adjustable silicon tape provided, the sweatband and the crown portion can be made of non-stretchable material without affecting the function of freely adjusting the cap and with the production cost considerably reduced.
- Another object of the invention is to provide an adjustable cap which is formed of a sweatband and a silicon tape sewn together; and the cap style varied with the gathers appeared on the lower peripheral edge portion of the crown portion.
- To achieve the above-mentioned objects, the invention is provided inside of the lower peripheral edge portion with a sweatband sewn together with a silicon tape, and the crown portion is made of non-stretchable material. The silicon tape creates gathers on the lower peripheral edge portion, which can be freely stretchable to flat depending on various head sizes, so that the adjustable cap seamed with silicon tape(s) can be adjustable to fit a range of head sizes and thereby reducing the production cost and increasing the application of the cap. Wherein the sweatband is optionally stretchable or non-stretchable.
- The characteristics and structure of the present invention will be described in a more detailed manner via a preferred embodiment.

- Referring to
FIGS. 1, 2 and 3, the invention discloses an adjustable cap seamed with silicon tape(s), comprising apeak 1, acrown portion 2, asweatband 3 and at least onesilicon tape 4. - The
peak 1 is sewn with thecrown portion 2 which comprises twofore gores 21, twomiddle gores 21A and tworear gores 21B sewn together. All the gores are made of non-stretchable fabrics, such that the production cost can be reduced. Afirst silicon tape 4 is sewn on the inner side of the lowerperipheral edge 22 of thecrown portion 2, and a second silicon tape is sewn on the inner side of the sweatband, so that the first and second silicon are hidden in-between thecrown portion 2 and thesweatband 3 allowing the freely-stretchable silicon tape can be positioned to the lower peripheral edge portion. - Wherein the
sweatband 3 is made of woven fabric or knitted fabric. The appended drawings only show those made of non-stretchable materials, whereas stretchable materials are applied to the sweatband, the silicon tape need not be sewn on the inner side thereof. - With the above-mentioned elements sewn and secured to the crown portion, the
first silicon tape 4 may optionally be sewn to thecrown portion 2 depending on whether thecrown portion 2 is made of stretchable or non-stretchable materials. Asweatband 3 is sewn on the inner side of the lower peripheral edge of thecrown portion 22 with asecond silicon tape 4 a sewn integrally to the inner side thereof, thereby forming an adjustable cap. Wherein as the second silicon tape is freely stretchable, thesweatband 3 can be optionally made of stretchable or non-stretchable materials. Where thesweatband 3 is non-stretchable, sweat absorbent fabrics such as cotton can be adapted to enhance wearing comfort. - Referring to
FIGS. 3 and 4 , the invention is characterized in that thecrown portion 2 is non-stretchable and that asweatband 3 and thefirst silicon tape 4 are sewn on the inner side of the lower peripheral edge of thecrown portion 2. Thesweatband 3 and thesilicon tape 4 are adjustable in size. With the application to a range of head sizes and head shapes, the value of the adjustable cap structure according to the invention is increased, and the production cost is reduced. - Referring to
FIGS. 1, 2 and 3, in the case that thecrown portion 2 is non-stretchable as describe above, while the cap is being worn, the lower peripheral edge of thecrown portion 2 provided withsweatband 3 andsilicon tape 4 sewn inside thereof can either occur even gathers 5 or stretch to flat depending on the wears' head sizes, thereby automatically adjusting the size of the cap to fit a range of wears' head sizes.(As shown inFIG. 5 ) - Accordingly, the invention has the following advantages:
- 1. The invention provided with freely
stretchable silicon tape 4 andsweatband 3 can fit a range of wears' head sizes and head shapes. - 2. The invention provided with gores of non-stretchable fabrics, which are relatively economical than those stretchable, can reduce the production cost.
- Concluded above, the invention can improve the disadvantages of the prior art, increase the application of the cap, and reduce the production cost for the manufacturer. Although a preferred embodiment of the invention has been described above by way of example only, it will be understood by those skilled in the field that modifications may be made to the disclosed embodiment without departing from the scope of the invention, which is defined by the appended claims.
