Abstract

The basic design of the scabbard is the same for the seven different configurations that will spawn from it. The main body of the scabbard (FIG. 1) is designed to be double cell phone width, divided in the center as to provide each phone with its own separate compartment. The compartments will be divided with a sewn stitch of either zigzag or double stitch as in blue jean pants. The back of the main body section has dual belt loops that are stitched to each side approximately one half inch from the outer edge on both sides and approximately one half from the top flap fold (FIG. 2). The belt loop itself will be approximately one inch wide and approximately one and one half inches tall. This allow for a variety of belt sizes and the weight of the cell phones will always make it hang from the top of the loops. This also allow for movement of the scabbard up and down while wearing, in case the scabbard gets caught on an object while the individual is in the process of sitting or standing. The top of the back section will be designed as scabbard flaps which will fold over the top of the cell phones individually to secure them in place. The flaps will be secured to the front lower section with hook and loop Velcro or plastic luggage type clips (FIG. 3) which will be held in place by ballistic nylon straps. This design is to preclude the inadvertent dislodgment of the phones and decrease the chance of lost cell phones. This design will be altered only slightly in order to accommodate; a. Two small body cell phones with antennas. b. Two small body cell phones without antennas. c. Two large body cell phones with antennas. d. Two large body cell phones without antennas. e. One large body and one small body cell phone with antennas. f. One large body and one small body cell phone without antennas. g. A combination of any of the two types of communication devices (cellphones-pagers-pda phones-pda's-etc.)

Description

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a scabbard for dual cell phones carried on the belt of a user, and more particular, a scabbard for conveniently carrying two/dual cell phones.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Cell phones have been in widespread use for many years and have become ubiquitous in modern society and throughout the entire world.
The use of cell phones is no longer dictated by the income level of society. They are used by everyone regardless of age or income level.
Most men, and some women, carry cell phones on their belt. With the demand of a business and a personal cell, many are carrying two. Sometimes, one of the belt, and, one in the pocket or purse. This is awkward and inconvenient when one has to dig through his/her pocket or purse to answer a call. Also the damage from dirt and other impurities in the pocket and purse oftentimes demands for replacement of equipment.
Moreover, with cell phones, even though the antenna is retracted, the rigidity of some belt mounted cell phone clips/holders will jab into the user's ribs when seated. This oftentimes encourages the user to remove the cell phone from his/her belt, and thus the equipment can be lost or misplaced.
While the use of various holsters for cell phones is very commonplace, no one has yet to come up with a practical, efficient, low-cost and attractive scabbard for dual/two cell phones.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

Accordingly, it is the primary object of the present invention to fulfill a long-awaited need by providing a practical, efficient, low-cost and attractive scabbard for two/dual cell phones.
In accordance with the teachings of the present invention, there is herein provided a scabbard for dual/two cell phones, wherein the scabbard has two belt loops, such that may be threaded through the loops for suspending the scabbard from the user's belt. The scabbard further includes a main body portion depending from the loops. The main body portion includes two separate compartments with top flaps extended from the main back portion used to secure the two/dual cell phone in their respective compartment, thereby precluding against inadvertent dislodgment of the phones from the scabbard.
In a preferred embodiment, the scabbard comprises a body of leather or leather like material, sewn with double stitching, with divided compartments, respectively.
The first compartment is the same in the primary configuration as the second compartment, to accept phones internally.
Viewed in another aspect, the present invention provides a method of using and carrying two/dual cell phones more efficiently, including the step of providing a scabbard, the scabbard having the main body depending on the two belt loops, and the main body portion having two openings formed therein. A pair of cell phones provided by the user, inserted into the openings of the main body portion of the scabbard, such that they are carried in a scabbard. The user's belt is subsequently threaded through the loops on the back of the main body portion, such that the scabbard is supported on the user's belt. when receiving a call on either cell phone, one unit can be removed without disturbing the other, then subsequently re-inserted into the scabbard.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

With reference to FIG. 1, 1 a, 1 b, 1 c, 1 d, & FIG. 2, there is illustrated pictorially a dual cell phone scabbard constituting a preferred embodiment of the present invention.
With reference to above referenced Fig.'s, the dual scabbard is to be made of ballistic nylon, naugahyde, and exotic animal skin such as alligator, snake, etc- to accommodate the different dress requirements for different occasions.
With further reference to above referenced Fig.'s this dual scabbard will be the base design for a dual scabbard that has embodiments that accommodate a cell phone in combination with another cellphone, or pager, or PDA (personal digital assistant).
The main body of the dual scabbard will have its flaps secured to the main body by hook and loop “Velcro” or with small plastic briefcase clips that slide into it self and snap lock to secure flaps enclosure of cellphones.
With reference to the belt clips, the belt will be inserted into the first loop and then through the belt loop on the article of clothing and then into the second loop on the dual cell phone scabbard. This is designed to keep it in place on the side of the wearer and not slide around while in use.
With this arrangement, it is not necessary to remove the entire dual cellphone scabbard in order to answer a call. The individual only has to pull up on the flap of the affected cellphone and remove it for use. If the dual cellphone scabbard has the small briefcase slide in clips, the individual only has to squeeze the sides of the snap and remove it from the other half and remove the cellphone for use.
Moreover, the dual cellphone scabbard lends itself to the good/better/best concept on consumer marketing. For example, as forstated, a standard model of the holster may be made of a suitable material such as naugahyde in different colors; a “step up” model may be made of a higher quality leather (of different patterns); and an ultra deluxe model may be made of snakeskin or alligator skin and monogrammed.
These are substantial features and advantages, heretofore not available in the prior art.
Moreover, and with references to all above Fig.'s, this same dual cellphone scabbard will be used to expand the coverage for multiple electronic items such as pager and PDA.
As shown in FIG. 1 b and 1 c, the embodiment of the dual cellphone scabbard will allow the scabbard to move around on the belt enough to not be in the way while driving and will be easy to access while driving or sitting at a desk making it “self-adjusting” for maximum convenience and comfort to the wearer.
Another embodiment of the present invention as illustrated in FIG. 2, shows the dual cellphone scabbard with the extended flaps which will secure the dual cellphones into the scabbard for more security from loss. It also shows the location of the “VELCRO” hook and loop fasteners, may be employed.
Other modifications may be made without departing from the basic spirit of the present invention. Accordingly, it will be appreciated by those skilled in the art that the invention may be practiced other than has been specifically described here.

Claims

1. A scabbard for two cell phones, wherein the scabbard has storage capability for two cell phones, they are kept secure in separate compartments that have cover flaps that will be secured with hook and loop Velcro or plastic clips that will be secured to the body with ballistic nylon straps. The scabbard comprising two belt loops for receiving the user's belt, such that the belt may be threaded through the loops for the suspending of the scabbard from the user's belt, the scabbard further comprising a main body portion depending from the loops, the main body portion having a pair of compartments with secured flaps to secure the phones from accidental loss.

The scabbard of claim 1, wherein the scabbard comprises a main back portion, respectively, the two compartments sewn onto the front side of the main back portion, respectively, to comprise the compartments for two cell phones, respectively, on the back side of the main back portion, respectively, the belt loops will be sewn at equal intervals, respectively, to allow for a pair of supporting fixtures, respectively, for entry to the user's belt.

3. The scabbard of claim 2, wherein the scabbard comprises a leather material.

4. The scabbard of claim 2, wherein the word sewn comprises double blue jean type stitching.

5. The scabbard of claim 2, wherein the compartments comprises slots in which the cell phones will slide into.

6. The scabbard of claim 5, wherein the compartments are just the size of the cell phone for each side.

7. The scabbard of claim 2, wherein the belt loops comprises a leather material.

8. The scabbard of claim 7, wherein two belt loops will be sewn to back side at equal intervals.

9. The scabbard of claim 8, wherein will be sewn will be with double blue jean type stitching.

10. The scabbard of claim 8, wherein equal intervals will measure one half inch from top and sides.

11. The scabbard of claim 2, wherein supporting fixtures are loops for the scabbard to depend from the user's belt.

12. The scabbard of claim 11, wherein supporting fixtures are loops, entry points of one inch wide and two inches tall.

13. The scabbard of claim 12, wherein entry points of one inch wide and two inches tall allow for movement on user's belt in case it gets caught or snagged on something.

14. The scabbard of claim 1, wherein secured flaps to secure phones in scabbard.

15. The scabbard of claim 14, wherein secured flaps will use hook and loop Velcro to make closure from flap to body.

16. The scabbard of claim 14, wherein secured flaps may use plastic luggage type clips to make closure from flap to body.

17. The scabbard of claim 16, wherein plastic luggage type clips will be secured to flap and compartment with ballistic nylon strapping.

18. The scabbard of claim 1, wherein a dual cell phone scabbard does not exist.
