Abstract
The invention relates to a safety glove including: an inner shell formed on a portion being in contact with the palm portion of the wearer, the inner shell being made of aramid-based glass fibers, the aramid-based glass fibers becoming hard when heated and becoming broken when applied with an impact, or the inner shell being made of polyethylene fibers, the polyethylene fibers becoming soft when heated and deformed with an impact; an outer shell formed on a portion in direct contact with an object, the outer shell being made of cotton fabric that is reinforced and coated at the inside thereof; and safety elements fixedly attached between the inner shell and the outer shell at given intervals, the safety elements being made of metals like iron or iron core, reforced plastic, or bulletproof film in such a manner as to be cut to a given size and shape.
Description
- 1. Field of the Invention
- The present invention relates to a safety glove, and more particularly, to a safety glove that is provided with an inner shell, an outer shell, and a plurality of safety elements formed on a palm portion thereof, such that even though a wearer's hand comes in contact with a sharp object during the work, the formation of the inner shell and the plurality of safety elements enables the wearer's hand to be protected from the danger or injury, and even when the glove is worn by a wearer, the fingers of the wearer are relatively free in their motion, thereby making it convenient in use.
- 2. Background of the Related Art
- In general, safety for people engaged in all kinds of industrial sites should be primarily considered while they are working, and thus, safety devices like a helmet for protecting a wearer's head and a safety glove for protecting a wearer's hand have been mostly used. Especially, the safety glove is necessarily provided when the industrial job activities are done by using the wearer's hand.
- That is to say, while pressing is conducted or the job activity is conducted by using a rotary body like a cutting machine, a grinder, a rotary saw, and so on, the safety glove is generally used for protecting the wearer's hand from various dangers, and such the safety glove is made of fabric like cotton cloth, which is popular to the workmen engaged in various industrial sites, because they can feel a high wearing sense and purchase the safety glove at relatively low costs.
- However, since most of the conventional safety glove is made of fabric, it is difficult to perfectly protect a workman's hand or fingers from a sharp object during the working, and even though it is made of leather having a high tension strength, it is also difficult to completely protect the workman's hand from a sharp rotary body or fixed body like a blade or a cutter. Thus, several safety gloves are worn, or a substantially thick safety glove is worn. In this case, wearer's fingers are inconvenient to be free in their motion, which makes the working efficiency greatly low.

FIG. 1 , the conventional safety glove for a workman includes: anouter shell 2 adapted to come in direct contact with an object or tool, the outer shell being made of cotton fabric in such a manner as to be reinforced and coated on the inside thereof; an inner shell 3 adapted to come in direct contact with a workman's hand and attached to the inside of theouter shell 2, the inner shell 3 being made of a cotton fabric in such a manner as to be reinforced and coated on the contacted face with theouter shell 2; and acoil spring 5 adapted to be inserted into the space between theouter shell 2 and the inner shell 3 of a finger portion 4 in such a manner as to be fixedly sewn with theouter shell 2 and the inner shell 3. - Under the structure of the safety glove as described above, the
coil spring 5, as shown inFIG. 2 , serves momentarily to spring the finger at a time of abutting against the rotary body like a cutter, grinder, a rotary saw, and so on, thereby greatly minimizing the generation of the safety accidents, and moreover, since the wearer's fingers are not inconvenient at all in their motion after he or she wears the safety glove, the conventional safety glove has a higher working efficiency than existing safety gloves. - By the way, the conventional safety glove has a serious defect in that the formation of the
coil spring 5 for the finger portion enables only the fingers to be protected from unexpected dangers or injuries. - On the other hand, a conventional safety glove 111 is, as shown in
FIG. 3 , provided with aninner shell 31 formed in the same shape as in the conventional practice, a iron net 41 formed on a palm portion thereof, and anouter shell 21 formed on the outside of the iron net 41, and under the above structure, a wearer's hand is protected only when it is placed under the iron net 41 and is not protected at any portion except the iron net 41. Also, because the portion of glove except the iron net 41 is generally made of a fabric or rubber material, it may be easily worn out or torn off, which increases the consumption costs for the safety glove. - Therefore, there is a need for the development of a novel safety glove for perfectly protecting a wearer's hand from keen objects, for example, during he or she rescues persons and for removing torn iron plates or broken glass pieces made by traffic or other accidents, such that as the wearer's activities become rapid and free, the working period of time can be substantially reduced and thus, the damage caused by the accidents can be greatly decreased.
- Accordingly, the present invention has been made in view of the above-mentioned problems occurring in the prior art, and it is an object of the present invention to provide a safety glove that is provided with an inner shell made of a bulletproof film material, an outer shell made of a specific coated material for protecting sliding thereon and improving the gripping force thereof and a plurality of safety elements made of metals like iron or iron core, reinforced plastic, or bulletproof film, thereby doubly protecting a wearer's hand against his or her carelessness and external sources.
- It is another object of the present invention to provide a safety glove that has a back portion provided with an outer shell, an inner shell, and a plurality of safety elements, like a palm portion thereof, such that when a wearer's hand comes in contact with an object like a rotary body, it can be perfectly protected against the object, and that additionally has a material corresponding to that of the inner shell provided between the safety elements and the outer shell on the palm portion, which enables those who are engaged in the industrial fields to have a wider selecting range for the safety glove and also enables the wearer's hand to be sufficiently protected from safety accidents.
- It is still another object of the present invention to provide a safety glove that is flexible such that wearer's fingers can be free in their motion and with the formation of the inner shell, the outer shell and the plurality of safety elements, a wearer can be safely protected during working.
- It is yet another object of the present invention to provide a safety glove that can remarkably reduce the danger of injuries or life loss by keen objects like knives at a state where security guards, police officers, or soldiers stand face to face or suppress confused situations, thereby helping them rapidly suppress the opposite party.
- It is a further object of the present invention to provide a safety glove that can protect a wearer's hand from murderous weapons, thereby preventing him or her from being exposed to dangers of injuries and life losses at a time of taking the opposite party who possesses the murderous weapons by the wrist, which enables the wearer to positively defend himself or herself.
- To accomplish the above objects of the present invention, according to the present invention, there is provided a safety glove comprising a back portion for inserting the fingers of a wearer' hand therethrough, the back portion being made of fabric, a palm portion for inserting the fingers of the wearer's hand therethrough in such a manner as to be shaped to generally conform to the back portion and adapted to be joined with the back portion in such a manner as to be formed integrally with the back portion or sewn with the back portion, a wrist protecting portion formed at the lower ends of the back portion and the palm portion for supporting the wrist of the wearer's hand, when the wearer's fingers are inserted into the safety glove, and a fastening member connected at one side of the wrist protecting portion in such a manner as to be tightly connected to the other side thereof, wherein the palm portion includes: an inner shell formed on a portion being in direct contact with the palm portion of the wearer when the safety glove is worn, the inner shell being made of aramid-based glass fibers used as a bulletproof material, the aramid-based glass fibers becoming hard when heated and becoming broken when applied with an impact, or the inner shell being made of polyethylene fibers used as a main material of a bulletproof helmet, the polyethylene fibers becoming soft when heated and becoming deformed when applied with an impact; an outer shell formed on a portion being in direct contact with an object or tool, the outer shell being made of cotton fabric that is reinforced and coated at the inside thereof; and a plurality of safety elements fixedly attached between the inner shell and the outer shell at given intervals, the plurality of safety elements being made of metals like iron or iron core, reinforced plastic, or bulletproof film in such a manner as to be cut to a given size and shape.
- The above and other objects, features and advantages of the present invention will be apparent from the following detailed description of the preferred embodiments of the invention in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, in which:

FIG. 4 is a perspective view showing a palm portion of the hand of a safety glove according to a first embodiment of the present invention; -
FIG. 5 is a partly sectional view taken along the line A-A′ of the palm portion of the hand of the safety glove according to the first embodiment of the present invention; -
FIG. 6 is a perspective view showing a palm portion of the hand of a safety glove according to a second embodiment of the present invention; and -
FIG. 7 is a partly sectional view taken along the line B-B′ of the palm portion of the hand of the safety glove according to the second embodiment of the present invention. - Now, an explanation of the safety glove according to preferred embodiments of the present invention will be given with reference to the attached drawings.

safety glove 100 according to the present invention includes a back portion (which is not shown) for inserting the fingers of a wearer's hand therethrough and connected integrally with a finger insertion portion, the back portion being made of fabric, and a palm portion 110 for inserting the fingers of the wearer's hand therethrough in such a manner as to be shaped to generally conform to the back portion and adapted to be joined with the back portion in such a manner as to be formed integrally with the back portion or sewn with the back portion. - Further, a
wrist protecting portion 120 is formed at the lower ends of the back portion and the palm portion 110, and when the wearer's fingers are inserted, it functions to support the wearer's wrist thereagainst. Thewrist protecting portion 120 has a fastening member connected at one side thereof in such a manner as to be tightly connected to the other side thereof. - As shown in
FIG. 4 , the palm portion 110 is composed of aninner shell 130, anouter shell 140, and a plurality ofsafety elements 150. In more detail, theinner shell 130 is formed on a portion being in contact with the palm portion of the wearer when the safety glove is worn, which is made of a bulletproof material. That is, theinner shell 130 is made of aramid-based glass fibers called Kevlar or Dyneema, such that when heated, they become hard, and when applied with an impact, they become broken, or made of polyethylene fibers as a main material of a new bulletproof helmet, such that when heated, they become soft, and when applied with an impact, they become deformed. - Also, the
outer shell 140 is formed on a portion being in direct contact with an object or tool and made of cotton fabric reinforced and coated at the inside thereof and silicon coated at the outside thereof for preventing sliding occurring when the wearer holds the object or tool. - The plurality of
safety elements 150 are formed between theinner shell 130 and theouter shell 140, which is made of metals like iron or iron core, reinforced plastic, or bulletproof film in such a manner as to be cut to a size between 2 mm and 3 mm in a shape like an octagon, hexagon, or circle. Thus, the plurality ofsafety elements 150 are fixedly attached between theinner shell 130 and theouter shell 140 at given intervals, thereby doubly protecting the wearer's hand from keen objects like a knife, cutter, and so on. Referring to the separate perspective view ofFIG. 5 , that is, the plurality ofsafety elements 150, which are made of metals like iron or iron core, reinforced plastic, or bulletproof film in such a manner as to be cut to a given size and shape, are fixedly attached between theinner shell 130 and theouter shell 140 on the palm portion 110. - At this time, the sizes and shapes of the plurality of
safety elements 150 may be variable in accordance with the purposes the skilled person in this art selects. That is, in accordance with the purposes of the wearer, the size may be determined within 5 mm, and the shape may be determined in a square or rectangle, and so on. - Furthermore, the bulletproof film used for making the plurality of
safety elements 150 may be formed of generally available polycarbonate components or may be formed of a polyester film. - On the other hand, in case of using the polyester film, preferably, first to third clear polyester films of a given thickness are stacked sequentially on one another, a first laminating adhesive layer is formed between the first and second clear polyester films, and a second laminating adhesive layer is formed between the second and third clear polyester films.
- In accordance with the purposes the skilled person in this art selects, as shown in
FIG. 6 , the plurality ofsafety elements 150 that are fixedly attached between theinner shell 130 and theouter shell 140 may be formed of a sheet of bulletproof film disposed integrally on the whole surface of the palm portion 110. That is to say, the entire portions ofFIG. 6 except the structure of the plurality of safety elements as shown inFIG. 4 are the same as those inFIG. 4 , and the sheet of bulletproof film serving as the plurality ofsafety elements 150 is disposed between theinner shell 130 and theouter shell 140, as shown inFIG. 7 . The sheet of bulletproof film is of a vinyl shape having good flexibility such that thesafety glove 100 becomes more flexible when compared with that made of metals like iron or iron core, or reinforced plastic, which makes the fingers free in their motion and improves the wearing sense, together with theinner shell 130 and theouter shell 140 constituting thesafety glove 100. - Under the above structure, the
safety glove 100 of this invention can protect the wearer's hand from various dangers occurring when he or she uses keen metal tools. - Furthermore, under the above structure of the
safety glove 100, the back portion can also have theinner shell 130, theouter shell 140, and the plurality ofelement elements 150, in the same manner as the palm portion 110, such that it can protect the wearer's hand from various dangers occurring when the wearer's hand becomes in contact with rotary bodies. - Also, under the above structure of the
safety glove 100, theinner shell 130 and theouter shell 140 may be formed integrally with each other on the palm portion thereof and further may have another outer shell (which is not shown) made of aramid fibers or polyethylene fiber and a plurality of safety elements made of metals like iron or iron core, reinforced plastic, or bulletproof film in such a manner as to be cut to a size between 2 mm and 3 mm in a shape like an octagon, hexagon, or circle and fixedly attached at given intervals on the outside or inside thereof. - The outer shell (which is not shown), which is in direct contact with objects or tools, is preferably made of reinforced and coated cloth or leather material.
- While the present invention has been described with reference to the particular illustrative embodiments, it is not to be restricted by the embodiments but only by the appended claims. For example, a material like that of the inner shell may be additionally provided between the safety elements and the outer shell. Therefore, it is to be understood that other modifications and variations may be made without departing from the substance and scope of the present invention, as those skilled in the art will readily understand. Such alternate modifications and variations are within the scope of the present invention which is intended to be limited only by the appended claims and equivalents thereof.
- As discussed above, the safety glove of this invention is provided with an inner shell made of a bulletproof film material, an outer shell made of a specific coated material, and a plurality of safety elements made of various metals, thereby doubly protecting a wearer's hand against his or her carelessness and external sources.
- Also, the safety glove of this invention is flexible such that the fingers of a wearer's hand can be free in their motion and with the formation of the inner shell, the outer shell and the plurality of safety elements, a wearer can be safely protected during working.
- Moreover, the safety glove of this invention has a sliding preventing member attached at appropriate positions of a palm portion thereof, thereby improving a gripping force at a time of wearing the safety glove and preventing sliding against an object to abut.
- Additionally, the safety glove of this invention has a plurality of safety elements selected from one or all of metals like iron or iron core, reinforced plastic, and bulletproof film, the safety elements being variably adapted in accordance with wearer's purposes, thereby enabling its purposes to be widely achieved, without any limitation of the usage environment.
- Also, the safety glove of this invention has a back portion provided with an outer shell, an inner shell, and a plurality of safety elements, like a palm portion thereof, such that when a wearer's hand comes in contact with an object like a rotary body, it can be perfectly protected against the object, and that additionally has a material corresponding to that of the inner shell is proved between the safety elements and the outer shell on the palm portion, which enables those who are engaged in the industrial fields to have a wider selecting range for the safety glove and also enables the wearer's hand to be sufficiently protected from safety accidents.
- Furthermore, the safety glove of this invention can remarkably reduce the danger of injury or life loss by keen objects like knives at a state where security guards, police officers, or soldiers stand face to face or suppress confused situations, thereby helping them rapidly suppress the opposite party.
- While the present invention has been described with reference to the particular illustrative embodiments, it is not to be restricted by the embodiments but only by the appended claims. It is to be appreciated that those skilled in the art can change or modify the embodiments without departing from the scope and spirit of the present invention.
Claims (14)
1. A safety glove comprising a back portion for inserting the fingers of a wearer' hand therethrough, the back portion being made of fabric, a palm portion for inserting the fingers of the wearer's hand therethrough in such a manner as to be shaped to generally conform to the back portion and adapted to be joined with the back portion in such a manner as to be formed integrally with the back portion or sewn with the back portion, a wrist protecting portion formed at the lower ends of the back portion and the palm portion for supporting the wrist of the wearer's hand, when the wearer's fingers are inserted into the safety glove, and a fastening member connected at one side of the wrist protecting portion in such a manner as to be tightly connected to the other side thereof,
wherein the palm portion includes:
an inner shell formed on a portion being in direct contact with the palm portion of the wearer when the safety glove is worn, the inner shell being made of aramid-based glass fibers used as a bulletproof material, the aramid-based glass fibers becoming hard when heated and becoming broken when applied with an impact, or the inner shell being made of polyethylene fibers used as a main material of a bulletproof helmet, the polyethylene fibers becoming soft when heated and becoming deformed when applied with an impact;
an outer shell formed on a portion being in direct contact with an object or tool, the outer shell being made of cotton fabric that is reinforced and coated at the inside thereof; and
a plurality of safety elements fixedly attached between the inner shell and the outer shell at given intervals, the plurality of safety elements being made of metals like iron or iron core, reinforced plastic, or bulletproof film in such a manner as to be cut to a given size and shape.
2. A safety glove according to claim 1 , wherein a material corresponding to that of the inner shell is additionally provided between the plurality of safety elements and the outer shell.
3. A safety glove according to claim 1 , wherein the back portion has the same structure as the palm portion.
4. A safety glove according to claim 1 , wherein each of the plurality of safety elements has a size between 2 mm and 3 mm in a shape like a circle, octagon, hexagon, and so on.
5. A safety glove according to claim 4 , wherein a material corresponding to that of the inner shell is additionally provided between the plurality of safety elements and the outer shell.
6. A safety glove according to claim 4 , wherein the back portion has the same structure as the palm portion.
7. A safety glove according to claim 1 , wherein the bulletproof film of the plurality of safety elements contains polycarbonate components therein.
8. A safety glove according to claim 7 , wherein a material corresponding to that of the inner shell is additionally provided between the plurality of safety elements and the outer shell.
9. A safety glove according to claim 1 , wherein the bulletproof film of the plurality of safety elements comprises:
first to third clear polyester films of a given thickness stacked sequentially on one another;
a first laminating adhesive layer formed between the first and second clear polyester films; and
a second laminating adhesive layer formed between the second and third clear polyester films.
10. A safety glove according to claim 9 , wherein a material corresponding to that of the inner shell is additionally provided between the plurality of safety elements and the outer shell.
11. A safety glove according to claim 1 , wherein the plurality of safety elements fixedly attached between the inner shell and the outer shell are formed of a sheet of bulletproof film disposed integrally on the whole surface of the palm portion.
12. A safety glove according to claim 11 , wherein a material corresponding to that of the inner shell is additionally provided between the plurality of safety elements and the outer shell.
13. A safety glove comprising a back portion for inserting the fingers of a wearer' hand therethrough, the back portion being made of fabric, a palm portion for inserting the fingers of the wearer's hand therethrough in such a manner as to be shaped to generally conform to the back portion and adapted to be joined with the back portion in such a manner as to be formed integrally with the back portion or sewn with the back portion, a wrist protecting portion formed at the lower ends of the back portion and the palm portion for supporting the wrist of the wearer's hand, when the wearer's fingers are inserted into the safety glove, and a fastening member connected at one side of the wrist protecting portion in such a manner as to be tightly connected to the other side thereof,
wherein the palm portion includes:
an inner shell formed on a portion being in direct contact with the palm portion of the wearer when the safety glove is worn, the inner shell being made of aramid-based glass fibers used as a bulletproof material, the aramid-based glass fibers becoming hard when heated and becoming broken when applied with an impact, or the inner shell being made of polyethylene fibers used as a main material of a bulletproof helmet, the polyethylene fibers becoming soft when heated and becoming deformed when applied with an impact; and
a plurality of safety elements fixedly attached at an inner shell or an outer shell of the outer shell at given intervals, the plurality of safety elements being made of metals like iron or iron core, reinforced plastic, or bulletproof film in such a manner as to be cut to a size between 2 mm and 3 mm in a shape like a circle, octagon, hexagon, and so on.
14. A safety glove according to claim 13 , wherein the outer shell is formed on a portion being in direct contact with an object or tool, the outer shell being made of reinforced and coated fabric or leather material.
