Description
- The present disclosure pertains to an apparatus for Word Guessing Board Game, in particular to provide entertainment that engages the intellectual capacity of the player.
- The persistent need for healthy entertainment that fulfils the need for fun and exercising the intellectual capacity of an individual is understood by any person who likes to play word games. Various methods have been invented in the past:
- Some of the prior patents are U.S. Pat. Nos. 5,921,864, 4,432,554, 4,448,423, 4,222,561, 4,690,409.
- However, it has been found that the inventions related to prior patents are structurally and functionally different than the present one. For example, some of the prior patents have designs that have a different method of allocation of points. Some other prior patents do not have symbolic words as a part of the Word Guessing Board Game.
- The present invention is illustrated by way of an example and is not limited by the figures presented in the following sections:
-
FIG. 1 illustrates the prototype of the embodiment, which is the Word Guessing Card Game. It shows the isometric view of the embodiment, which is the Word Guessing Board Game. -
FIG. 2 illustrates the accessory—“Deck of Cards” that comes along with the embodiment shown inFIG. 1 , which is the Word Guessing Board Game. -
FIG. 3 illustrates the front view of the accessory—“Deck of Cards” that comes along with the embodiment shown inFIG. 1 . -
FIG. 4 illustrates the isometric view of the other accessory—“Scoring Sheets” of the embodiment shown inFIG. 1 . - The following description provides an apparatus for Word Guessing Board Game, which can be used for entertainment purposes. The following sections provide a description of the apparatus for Word Guessing Board Game, its specific details, its features and its advantages over the other prior models.
- As previously discussed, the prior art patents have various limitations such as having designs that have a different method of allocation of points. Some other prior patents do not have symbolic words as a part of the Word Guessing Board Game. In contrast, the present invention endeavors to overcome the limitations faced by the prior art patents. The apparatus described as an embodiment in
FIG. 1 is structurally different from all prior patents. It is an object of this invention to allow individuals to enjoy the thrill of fast-paced Board game. Another object of this invention is to provide entertainment with healthy and friendly competition. In one embodiment, the apparatus comprises of two decks of cards and scoring sheets. The first deck of cards comprises of cards that have symbolic words and have to be guessed. The second deck of cards comprises of cards that allocate points and turns. - The apparatus for Word Guessing Board Game, described in the present invention has the ability to test the mental skills of the players, is portable, lightweight, and provides entertainment value, challenge and appeal as a family game.
-
FIG. 1 illustrates the prototype of the embodiment, which is the Word Guessing Board Game. It shows the isometric view of the embodiment, which is the Word Guessing Board Game. In one embodiment, the apparatus comprises of a board (101) 15½ inches in length and 10½ width, a deck ofcards 102, and scoring sheets (depicted inFIG. 4 ). The board hasconsonants 103 marked on top, numbers (104) 0 through 9, special symbols (105) and vowels (106) marked on the opposite side. The board also has a spinning wheel (107) in the middle, which has information on points, next course of actions, etc. The character markings have extended flaps that can be used to cover the characters. In another variation of the embodiment, the spinning wheel in the middle of the board could be replaced by a regular deck of cards, which indicate the choices that would have been on the spinning wheel. For example: - In one version of the game with a minimum of 3 players,
- the 1st participant takes a card from mystery deck to determine what mystery word or phrase will be used; the other participants take turns spinning the wheel to determine point value or course of action, then makes a selection from CONSENANT letters only. If selection is part of the mystery word or phrase the participant then has a choice of solving the mystery or passing to the next participant who spins the wheel.
- If a participant guesses WRONG they LOSE 200 points or the amount the wheel stopped on (WHICH EVER IS GREATER) plus their next turn. If participants guesses CORRECTLY they receive 100 times the spaces used in mystery or phrase*.
*Player that solves mystery word or phrase switches places with 1st participant to determine what mystery word or phrase will be used next, OR each participant rotates as clue giver. Numbers, vowels and symbols can be bought for 200 points.
- In another version of the game with a minimum of 3 players, THE TWO-DECK VERSION (minimum 3 participants)
- The 1st participant takes a card from mystery
game deck # 1 to determine what mystery word or phrase will be used; the other participant takes turns pulling fromgame deck # 2 to determine point value or course of action, then makes a selection from CONSONANT letters only. If selection is part of the mystery word or phrase the participant then has the choice of solving the mystery or passing to the next participant who pulls fromgame deck # 2. - If a participant guesses WRONG they LOSE 200 points or the card value pulled EVER IS GREATER) plus their next turn.
-
Game deck # 2 is basically a standard deck of playing cards with values that represent the following: - JOKER=bankrupt
- ACE=free selection of number, vowels or symbols
- KING=participant can ask a specific question about mystery word of phrase
- QUEENS and JACKS=receive ONE additional clue
- CARDS 10
thru 4=points multiplied by 100 -
CARD 3=lose turn -
CARD 2=extra free turn -
FIG. 2 illustrates the accessory—“Deck of Cards” (102) that comes along with the embodiment shown inFIG. 1 , which is the Word Guessing Board Game. In one embodiment, deck of cards could have cards that have symbolic words such as $PARENTS, 10DERFOOT, which translate as Grandparents and Tenderfoot respectively. The card could also include clues for easier guessing of the word. A variety of such word and symbol combinations could be featured on the deck of cards. -
FIG. 3 illustrates the front view of the accessory—“Deck of Cards” that comes along with the embodiment shown inFIG. 1 . In one embodiment, each card comprises of the symbolic word, its correct spelling and defining clues. -
FIG. 4 illustrates the isometric view of the other accessory—“Scoring Sheets” of the embodiment shown inFIG. 1 . In one embodiment, the scoring sheet comprises of columns—For players and teams to keep score. - While certain exemplary embodiments have been shown and described in the accompanying drawings, it is to be understood that such embodiments are merely illustrative of and not restrictive on the broad invention, and that this invention not be limited to the specific constructions and arrangements shown and described, since various other modification may occur to those ordinarily skilled in the art upon studying this disclosure.
