Abstract

A hand held surface cleaning device designed for cleaning bathtubs. A telescoping broom like handle is pivotally and removably mounted to a main body which the cleaning head has two cleaning implements, there is a sponge element adhesively mounted to the center of the bottom planar surface, and two sections of non abrasive scrub brush elements are mounted to respective sections of the bottom planar surface of the base frame. The base frame is pivotally connected to the bottom of the extendable handle. The handle is extendable from three to six feet in length, including at least one hollow telescoping outer section.

Description

    SUMMARY
  • According to the invention, this object is achieved by means of a telescoping, plastic broom like handle measuring three feet in length, a combination sponge and bristle brush cleaning head measuring sixteen inches wide is attached to the end of the handle. The handle is attached to a swivel ball element located at the top center of the cleaning head. The handle is extendable up to six feet in length by adjustable handle. A swivel ball attachment would allow the cleaning head to be easily maneuvered.
      • It is an object of the present invention to simply assist a consumer in cleaning a bathtub while standing in vertical position.
      • A further object of the present invention is to provide a way to clean hard to reach areas of a bathtub.
      • A further object of the present invention is to eliminate the need to get on one's hands and knees to effectively clean a bathtub.
    SPECIFICATION
  • Referring now more particularly to FIG. 1, a bathtub cleaning device. The present invention is illustrated. There is a hollow telescoping broom like handle 2, made of durable hard plastic, having a top end 2 and a bottom end 4. The telescoping handle 2 has a longitudinal axis extending along the entire length of the handle 2, the overall length of the handle is six feet. The innermost portion of section 2 includes internal threads 12 for selectively engaging the threads of a hollow central section 4 allowing said handle to extend from three to six feet in length. Attached to a main body 20 having a pivot ball element 15 secured to top planar surface of said main body 20 having threads meshingly engaging and securing said handle thereto. There is a sponge member or element 32 mounted to the bottom planar surface of said main body 20 and two sections of a scrubber pad element 34 adhesively mounted to respective sections of the bottom planar surface of said main body 20.
  • As seen in FIG. 2, the sponge element 32 may be first affix to an intermediary plate which is adhesively attached to the bottom planar surface. In other embodiment the sponge and scrubber pad element may be in a single continuous piece which is adhesively mounted to the bottom planar surface of the main body 20. Although the main body 20 is shown pivotally connected to the bottom end 4 by means of a pivot joint 15, other pivot or hinge arrangements could likewise be used with satisfactory results. The particular type of hinge or pivot connection is not critical, only that the connection allows the main body to rotate universally with respect to the bottom end between predetermined positions.
