Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of the invention
  • The present invention relates to an improved structure for an adhesive tape pedestal , and in particular, to a tape pedestal which is associated with a cyclometer to indicate the used portion of the adhesive tape in a roll.
  • 2. Description of the prior art
  • The adhesive tape is too-commonly used everywhere such as workshops, department stores, and private homes for packaging or fixing objects by adhering. It is consumed astonishingly a large amount in department stores during the season of bargain sales. Most of people have experienced that it is tedious to make packages or adhere something with the adhesive tape. First of all, the tip of a roll of tape must be found out, pull out the necessary length of tape, then restore the remained tape back properly. Next time the tape is to be used, the user has to looking for the tip of the tape again.
  • A somewhat convenient adhesive tape rolls with a tape pedestal have been on the market for a long time, either a handhold type or an on-table type. For example, a conventional handhold type is shown in FIG. 1. It includes a pedestal 8 with a serrated cutting blade 81 equipped in front of the tip of a tape roll. Behind both sides of the blade 81 are two supporting walls 82 each erected one side thereof. One of the supporting wall 82 is conjoined to a bobbin 83 around which the tape 5 is coiled. A roller 84 is sandwiched between the two supporting walls 82 and a transmission wheel 85 is provided on each side on the top ends of the walls 82 over the roller 84. A hood 86 for the tape roll is hinged to the rear of the walls 82. When using the tape 5 which is rolled around the bobbin 83, the tip of the tape 5 is pulled out and passed through the clearance between the roller 84 and the transmission wheel 85 to adhere the tape 5 onto the object 6 with a required length, the remaining portion is cut away with a serrated cutting blade 81. By doing so the user may feel better in handling the tape associated with a cutting blade 81 than that without it. However, there is a problem should the supplier of the tap is dishonest enough to sell the tape roll whose length is made purposely shorter than its nominal length, the user can not discover such a shameful behavior could be played in the seller's side because the user is unable to measure how long the actual length of the tape he/she has bought is.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention is made for palliating the noticeable defects inherent to the prior arts described above, and for protecting the consumer's right to check up the actual length of the tape contained in a roll after the tape is used up so as to help select a good product of another brand manufactured by a honest maker.
  • After a long time efforts of study and experience, the inventor has succeeded in coming up with a novel structure for adhesive tape pedestal as the present invention provides.
  • Accordingly, the present invention is to provide an adhesive tape structure which is associated with a cyclometer that helps the user check the actual length in a roll of tape he/she has purchased.
  • Another, the present invention is to provided a tape pedestal which is equipped with a visual window so as to enable the user to observe from the cyclometer indication the length of tape section being pulled out for use thereby assisting the user to pull out a just sufficient length of tape from the roll.
  • Still another, this improved structure for tape pedestal can be constructed simply for handling and manufacturing with a low cost.
  • Accordingly, the tape pedestal of the present invention consists of a pedestal body, two supporting walls, a serrated cutting blade, a hood, a roller, a driving wheel and a cyclometer. A visual window is provided on the pedestal body appropriately for observing the indication on the cyclometer which is driven by a gear mechanism. The cutting blade is set in the front end of the pedestal body and sustained by the two supporting walls at its two sides. The hood is hinged to the rear ends of the supporting walls, and the roller is rotatably sandwiched between the supporting walls behind the cutter blade. Two axles are provided behind the roller each attached respectively to the supporting wall at its own side, and a driving wheel is attached to each axle. One of the driving wheel serves as a means for driving the cyclometer by gear transmission. Besides, one of the supporting wall is conjoined to a bobbin which carries a roll of tape. With this structure the length of tape pulled out of the roll can be observed by the user through the visual window therefore the user is able to estimate proper length of the tape to be pulled out by observing the indication on the cyclometer so as not to waste the tape, meanwhile, the total length of specified roll of tape can appear on the cyclometer after the tape is used up that helps the user check whether or not the actual length of the tape in a roll complies with the nominal value thereof. This will benefit a great deal to those who consume a large amount of tape regularly.
