Abstract

A compact device includes a base receptacle having an inner casing for carrying cosmetic materials, and an outer casing welded to the inner casing. An upper cover includes an outer cover member and an inner cover member welded together. The base receptacle and the upper cover include engaging members engaged with each other, for openably locking the upper cover and the base receptacle together. The outer cover member of the upper cover is preferably made of transparent materials, to allow the inner cover member to be seen through the outer cover member. The outer casing includes two housing members, in which one of the housing members is made of transparent materials.

Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of the Invention
  • The present invention relates to a compact device, and more particularly to a compact device including a base receptacle and an upper cover each having an inner member and an outer member for forming a decorative structure.
  • 2. Description of the Prior Art
  • Typical compact devices or cosmetic casings or vanity cases each comprises a base casing for receiving or carrying cosmetic materials or loose powders therein, and an upper cover pivotally attached to the base casing, for enclosing the base casing, and for stably retaining the cosmetic materials or loose powders within the base casing.
  • For example, U.S. Pat. No. 2,041,260 to Morrison, and U.S. Pat. No. 2,468,161 to Beseke disclose two of the typical compact devices or cosmetic casings each also comprising a base casing having a number of compartments formed therein for receiving or carrying cosmetic materials or loose powders therein, and an upper cover pivotally attached to the base casing.
  • Normally, the base casing and the upper cover are made of a single layer of plastic or metal or other materials, and may have a single color formed or provided or applied on the outer peripheral portion thereof, such that the base casing and the upper cover of the typical compact devices or cosmetic casings may not have beautiful and decorative structures or outer contours.
  • The present invention has arisen to mitigate and/or obviate the afore-described disadvantages of the conventional compact devices or cosmetic casings.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The primary objective of the present invention is to provide a compact device including a base receptacle and an upper cover each having an inner member and an outer member for forming a decorative structure.
  • In accordance with one aspect of the invention, there is provided a compact device comprising a base receptacle including an inner casing having at least one compartment formed therein for carrying cosmetic materials therein, and an outer casing welded and secured to the inner casing and having a first engaging member provided thereon, and an upper cover including an outer cover member and an inner cover member welded together, and including a second engaging member provided thereon, for engaging with the first engaging member of the base receptacle, and for openably locking the upper cover and the base receptacle together. The inner casing and the outer casing of the base receptacle may be solidly welded and secured together to form a one integral piece, and the outer cover member and the inner cover member of the upper cover may also be solidly welded and secured together to form a one integral piece.
  • The outer cover member of the upper cover is preferably made of transparent materials, to allow the colors or patterns or shapes or words or marks of the inner cover member to be seen through the outer cover member.
  • The outer cover member of the upper cover includes at least one groove formed therein, and the inner cover member includes at least one projection extended therefrom, for engaging into the groove of the outer cover member, and for anchoring and securing the inner cover member and the outer cover member together. The inner cover member of the upper cover includes a peripheral panel extended outwardly therefrom, and having the projection extended from the peripheral panel.
  • The outer casing of the base receptacle includes a first housing member having a chamber formed therein, and a second housing member disposed on the first housing member and having a chamber formed therein and aligned with the chamber of the first housing member for receiving the inner casing.
  • The first housing member includes a peripheral rib extended therefrom, the second housing member includes a peripheral recess formed therein, for receiving the peripheral rib of the first housing member, and for anchoring and securing the first and the second housing members together.
  • The first housing member is made of transparent materials, to allow the colors or patterns or shapes or words or marks of the inner casing of the base receptacle to be seen through the first housing member. The second housing member includes a peripheral rib extended therefrom, the inner casing includes an peripheral flange extended therefrom, for engaging and seating on the peripheral rib of the second housing member.
  • Further objectives and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from a careful reading of the detailed description provided hereinbelow, with appropriate reference to the accompanying drawings.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • FIG. 1 is an exploded view of a compact device in accordance with the present invention;
  • FIG. 2 is a cross sectional view of the compact device as shown in FIG. 1;
  • FIG. 3 is an exploded view similar to FIG. 1, illustrating the other embodiment of the compact device;
  • FIG. 4 is a cross sectional view of the compact device as shown in FIG. 3;
  • FIG. 5 is an exploded view similar to FIGS. 1 and 3, illustrating the further embodiment of the compact device; and
  • FIG. 6 is a cross sectional view of the compact device as shown in FIG. 5.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
  • Referring to the drawings, and initially to FIGS. 1 and 2, a compact device 1 in accordance with the present invention comprises a base receptacle 10 including a first housing member 11 having a chamber 12 formed therein, and having a peripheral rib 13 extended upwardly therefrom. The base receptacle 10 may further include a second housing member 14 disposed or engaged onto the first housing member 11 and also having a chamber 15 formed therein and aligned with the chamber 12 of the first housing member 11.
  • It is preferable that the second housing member 14 also includes a peripheral rib 16 extended upwardly therefrom, and includes one or more engaging members 17 provided thereon, such as lock notches 17 formed therein, or formed in the peripheral rib 16. It is further preferable that the second housing member 14 includes a peripheral recess 18 formed in bottom thereof, for receiving the peripheral rib 13 of the first housing member 11, and thus for anchoring and securing the first and the second housing members 11, 14 together.
  • The first and the second housing members 11, 14 may be solidly secured together with welding processes, such as ultrasonic welding processes, to allow the first and the second housing members 11, 14 to be solidly secured together into one integral piece, and to form an outer casing 19. The base receptacle 10 further includes an inner casing 20 having one or more compartments 21 formed therein for receiving or carrying cosmetic materials or loose powders therein, and includes an peripheral flange 22 extended radially and outwardly from the upper portion thereof, for engaging or seating on the peripheral rib 16 of the second housing member 14.
  • The inner casing 20 and the first and the second housing members 11, 14 of the outer casing 19 may also be solidly secured together with welding processes, such as ultrasonic welding processes, to allow the inner casing 20 and the first and the second housing members 11, 14 to be solidly secured together into one integral piece, and thus to form the base receptacle 10 that includes a solid one integral piece. It is preferable that the first housing member 11 is made of transparent or semi-transparent materials, to allow the color and the shape of the inner casing 20 to be seen through the first housing member 11.
  • The inner casing 20 and the second housing member 14 may be formed or applied with different colors or patterns thereon, for allowing the different colors or patterns of the inner casing 20 and the second housing member 14 to be seen by people, and to form a decorative structure or outer contour. The inner casing 20 and the first and the second housing members 11, 14 of the outer casing 19 may be formed or shaped into various or different shapes or contours.
  • The compact device 1 further includes an upper cover 30 for attaching onto the base receptacle 10, and for enclosing the compartments 21 of the inner casing 20, in order to solidly and stably retain the cosmetic materials or loose powders within the compartments 21 of the inner casing 20. The upper cover 30 includes an outer cover member 31 having a space 32 formed therein, and having one or more grooves 33 formed therein, such as formed in the inner peripheral portion thereof, and an inner cover member 34 having a peripheral panel 35 extended laterally and radially and outwardly therefrom.
  • It is preferable that the inner cover member 34 includes one or more projections 36 extended outwardly from the peripheral panel 35 thereof, for engaging into the grooves 33 of the outer cover member 31, and thus for anchoring or securing the inner cover member 34 and the outer cover member 31 together. The inner cover member 34 and the outer cover member 31 may further be solidly secured together with welding processes, such as ultrasonic welding processes, to allow the inner cover member 34 and the outer cover member 31 of the upper cover 30 to be solidly secured together into one integral piece.
  • The upper cover 30 includes one or more engaging members 37 provided thereon, such as latches 37 provided therein, for engaging with the engaging members 17 or the lock notches 17 of the outer casing 19 of the base receptacle 10, and thus for detachably or openably closing or locking the upper cover 30 and the base receptacle 10 together. It is preferable that the outer cover member 31 is made of transparent or semi-transparent materials, to allow the color and the shape of the inner cover member 34 to be seen through the outer cover member 31.
  • As shown in FIGS. 3-6, the inner casing 20 and the first and the second housing members 11, 14 of the outer casing 19 of the base receptacle 10, and the outer and the inner cover members 31, 34 may be formed into different or other shapes or contours. As shown in FIGS. 5 and 6, the engaging member 17 of the second housing member 14 may be an outer thread 17 for threading with the inner thread 37 or the engaging member 37 of the inner cover member 34 of the upper cover 30.
  • The base receptacle 10 may further include a decorative ring 40 attached or engaged onto the second housing member 14, and secured onto the second housing member 14 with such as catches 41, for such as decorative purposes, and the base receptacle 10 may further include a cap 23 attached or engaged onto the inner casing 20, for further enclosing the compartments 21 of the inner casing 20. The cap 23 may include one or more ears 24 provided thereon, for allowing the cap 23 to be easily opened or disengaged from the inner casing 20.
  • It is to be noted that the typical compact devices or cosmetic casings failed to provide a base receptacle 10 including an inner casing 20 and an outer casing 19 to be solidly secured or welded together with welding processes, such as ultrasonic welding processes, and an upper cover 30 including an outer cover member 31 and an inner cover member 34 to be solidly secured or welded together with welding processes.
  • Accordingly, the compact device in accordance with the present invention includes a base receptacle and an upper cover each having an inner member and an outer member for forming a decorative structure.
  • Although this invention has been described with a certain degree of particularity, it is to be understood that the present disclosure has been made by way of example only and that numerous changes in the detailed construction and the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed.

Claims (8)

1. A compact device comprising:
a base receptacle including an inner casing having at least one compartment formed therein for carrying cosmetic materials therein, and an outer casing welded and secured to said inner casing and having a first engaging member provided thereon, and
an upper cover including an outer cover member and an inner cover member welded together, and including a second engaging member provided thereon, for engaging with said first engaging member of said base receptacle, and for openably locking said upper cover and said base receptacle together.
2. The compact device as claimed in claim 1, wherein said outer cover member of said upper cover is made of transparent materials, to allow said inner cover member to be seen through said outer cover member.
3. The compact device as claimed in claim 1, wherein said outer cover member of said upper cover includes at least one groove formed therein, and said inner cover member includes at least one projection extended therefrom, for engaging into said at least one groove of said outer cover member, and for anchoring and securing said inner cover member and said outer cover member together.
4. The compact device as claimed in claim 3, wherein said inner cover member of said upper cover includes a peripheral panel extended outwardly therefrom, and having said at least one projection extended from said peripheral panel.
5. The compact device as claimed in claim 1, wherein said outer casing of said base receptacle includes a first housing member having a chamber formed therein, and a second housing member disposed on said first housing member and having a chamber formed therein and aligned with said chamber of said first housing member for receiving said inner casing.
6. The compact device as claimed in claim 5, wherein said first housing member includes a peripheral rib extended therefrom, said second housing member includes a peripheral recess formed therein, for receiving said peripheral rib of said first housing member, and for anchoring and securing said first and said second housing members together.
7. The compact device as claimed in claim 5, wherein said first housing member is made of transparent materials, to allow said inner casing of said base receptacle to be seen through said first housing member.
8. The compact device as claimed in claim 5, wherein said second housing member includes a peripheral rib extended therefrom, said inner casing includes an peripheral flange extended therefrom, for engaging and seating on said peripheral rib of said second housing member.
