Description

    CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS
  • This application claims priority from Korean Patent Application No. 10-2005-0014752, filed on Feb. 23, 2005, in the Korean Intellectual Property Office, the disclosure of which is incorporated herein by reference.
  • BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
  • 1. Field of the Invention
  • The present invention relates to a cap having dual-structured crown, and in particular to a cap having dual-structured crown capable of receiving the head of various sizes without a size adjusting means, and enhancing the feeling of wearing and the sweat absorptivity.
  • 2. Description of the Related Art
  • Typically, widely known sports caps comprise a crown acting as a cap body, made of a plurality of panels, a visor in a front lower portion of crown, a head band in the inside lower periphery of crown, and a separate size adjusting means provided at the inner circumference of crown.
  • In recent years, a free-sized cap, which can be regarded as a developed one than the above-mentioned cap, has been widely used for mainly young people. Its main feature is that the headband and panels forming crown in the cap are made of an extensible material so that the cap can be worn in conformity to the head size within a predetermined range without a size adjusting means in the conventional sports caps. Such caps are rapidly increasing by offering the convenience to users which have been accustomed to the conventional cap. An example of such a free-sized cap is disclosed in U.S. Pat. No. 5,715,540 issued to Cho, Byung-Woo. According to this publication, the cap is provided with a cap body having a plurality of panels forming a crown with a lower edge, and a band for sweat absorption connected to the lower edge of the body, in which at least one of the plurality of panels can be made of uniaxial elongation textile which is extended only in its peripheral direction, and the band for the sweat absorption is made of a layer of unfolded extensible seat such as a elastic band to be controlled together with the body in such a manner that the band is to be adapted to the various-sized heads of wearers.
  • However, in the conventional free-sized cap, the wearer is subjected to the heavy pressure due to the elastic head hand, and, when the wearer is in activity with the cap worn, he(she) is all in sweat from the whole head.
  • Also, the conventional free-sized cap functions such that sweat is absorbed only in the head band portion, thereby increasing the contaminating possibility owing to the sweat flowing from the whole of head and shortening the cap's time.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • Accordingly, it is an aspect of the present invention to provide a cap having dual-structured crown of free-sized cap which offers a comfortable feeling while alleviating the pressure owing to the elastic head band.
  • It is another object of the present invention to provide a cap having dual-structured crown of free-sized cap capable of enhancing the sweat absorption force by absorbing the sweat through the whole inside of the crown, compared to the conventional cap that the sweat has been absorbed only in a portion of the head band.
  • In order to achieve the aforementioned objects, the present invention provides a cap having dual-structured crown comprising a crown member which acts as a cap body, and a visor member in a front lower portion of the crown member, wherein the crown member includes an outer skin portion outside, the crown member and an inner skin portion in the inside of crown member, the outer skin portion and the inner skin portion of crown member made of a plurality of panels, respectively. Preferably, the inner skin portion is made of a material having a good resilience and an excellent sweat absorption force by covering wholly the inside of the crown member without a head band.
  • According to the present invention, in the peripheral portion inside the crown, the elastic head band which has been used in the conventional free-sized cap is not employed. Therefore, no pressure is exerted on the head even if the user puts on the cap for a long time and the absorptivity of sweat can be remarkably increased because of the absorptive material covering the whole of inside of crown.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • The above and/or other aspects and advantages of the prevent invention will become apparent and more readily appreciated from the following description of the exemplary embodiments, taken in conjunction with the accompany drawings, in which:
  • FIG. 1 shows a bottom view of conventional free-sized cap.
  • FIG. 2 shows a bottom view of cap according to the present invention.
  • FIG. 3 shows a sectional view taken along a line A-A in FIG. 2.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • One embodiment of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings.
  • FIG. 1 shows a bottom view of conventional free-sized cap. As shown, the conventional free-sized cap is composed of a crown member 1 corresponding to a cap body and a visor member 2 in a front lower portion of crown, in which a head band 7 is provided at the inside lower periphery of the crown member for absorbing sweat and adjusting the size of cap, and the crown member 1 is made of a plurality of panels, and a bias tape 4 for covering a sewing portion is provided at the junction between respective panels. And, the panels are provided with eyelets 6 which act as air passage. Here, a trace 5 of an embroidery operation exists in the inner front portion of crown 1. This trace 5 remains when the embroidery operation is performed at the outer front portion of crown 1. At this time, the remaining threads in the embroidery operation are touched to the head of wearer, causing the unpleasant feeling and injuring the beauty.
  • FIG. 2 shows a bottom view of cap according to the present invention. As shown, the cap of the present invention comprises crown members 1 and 3 as the cap body, and a visor member 2 attached to a front lower side of the crown member. The crown member is composed of an outer skin portion 1 outside the crown member and an inner skin portion 3 inside the crown member, in which the outer skin portion 1 is made of at least one of panels formed of extensible material, and the inner skin portion 3 is made of at least one of panels covering the whole inside of the crown.
  • In the material for forming the inner skin portion 3 of the crown member, at least one of panels may be formed of an extensible material having a good sweat absorptivity such as spandex or knit. The inner skin portion 3 of the crown member is not provided with a head band which has been used in the conventional free-sized cap.
  • In addition, the bias tape for connecting between panels of the crown member is not used. Also, the trace of the embroidery operation in a front portion of the conventional free-sized cap can be screened due to the material covering wholly the inner skin portion of crown member.
  • FIG. 3 shows a sectional view taken along a line A-A in FIG. 2. As shown, the crown member of cap according to the present invention is composed of the outer skin portion 1 made of a plurality of panels, and the inner skin portion 3 covering the whole of inner skin portion of crown member, in which the combination between the outer skin portion 1 and the inner skin portion 3 is carried out by sewing threads 8, and the elastic material 9 such as rubber is inserted into the folded region at peripheral portion between the outer skin portion 1 and the inner skin portion 3. The elastic material 9 may be a rope or a band shape, whereby the elasticity and the restoring force in the peripheral portion can be enhanced.
  • Furthermore, as described above, according to the present invention, in the peripheral portion inside the crown member, the elastic head band which has been employed in the conventional free-sized cap is not used.
  • Therefore, no pressure is exerted on the head even if the user puts on the cap for a long time and the absorptivity of sweat can be remarkably increased because of the absorptive material covering the whole inside of crown.
  • The foregoing description is exemplary of the preferred embodiments, however, the scope of the invention is to be interpreted by the appended claims.
  • Although a few exemplary embodiments of the present invention have been shown and described, it will be appreciated by those skilled in the art that changes may be made in these embodiments without departing from the principles and spirit of the invention, the scope of which is defined in the appended claims and their equivalents.
