Description
- This application claims priority to Chinese Patent Application No. 200520068651.0, filed Jan. 27, 2005, which is hereby incorporated by reference.
- This invention relates generally to components of covered structures and in particular to poles and related components.
- The various kinds of covered leisure structures currently used for outdoor activities, such as gazebos and awnings, for example, mainly consist of tops and frames, and the frames are formed by poles, skeletons and crossbeams. The poles are usually made of aluminum alloy materials, the configurations of which are considerably simple. These structures primarily serve functionality, and transportation and packaging costs can be very high for single poles of greater sizes.
- An assembled pole comprising a pole having a top end and a bottom end; a plurality of fender boards, each of said fender boards having a top side, a bottom side, and vertical sides; a plurality of fender corner boards interconnecting said plurality of fender boards, each of said fender corner boards having a top side, a bottom side, and recesses into which said vertical sides of said fender boards are engaged; and a base board, wherein said bottom end of said pole is joined to said base board, said bottom sides of said plurality of fender boards are adjacent to said base board, and said bottom sides of said plurality of said fender board comers are adjacent to said base board.
- An assembled pole comprising a pole having a top end and a bottom end; a plurality of fender boards, each of said fender boards having a top side, a bottom side, and vertical sides; a plurality of fender corner boards interconnecting said plurality of fender boards, each of said fender corner boards having a top side, a bottom side, and recesses into which said vertical sides of said fender boards are engaged; a base board; a first guide board having a top side, a bottom side, and a hole; a second guide board having a top side, a bottom side, and a hole; a cover board having a top side, a bottom side, and a hole; a second fender board having a top side, a bottom side, and a hole; and a sheath having a top end and a bottom end,
- wherein said pole is threaded through said holes of said first guide board, said second guide board, said cover board, and said second fender board and through said sheath,
- said bottom end of said pole is joined to said base board,
- said bottom sides of said plurality of fender boards are adjacent to said base board, and said bottom sides of said plurality of said fender board comers are adjacent to said base board,
- said top sides of said plurality of fender boards are adjacent to said bottom side of said first guide board, and said top sides of said plurality of said fender corner boards are adjacent to said bottom side of said first guide board,
- said bottom side of said cover board is adjacent to said top side of said first guide board,
- said top side of said cover board is adjacent to said bottom end of said sheath,
- said top end of said sheath is adjacent to said bottom side of said second fender board, and
- said top side of said second fender board is adjacent to said bottom side of said second guide board.
-
FIG. 1 is a diagram of an embodiment of an assembled pole. -
FIG. 2 is a diagram of an embodiment of the components of the assembled pole ofFIG. 1 . -
FIG. 3 is a diagram illustrating connections between an embodiment of rectangular fender boards and a fender corner board. - The present invention relates to an assembled pole, which is capable of easily disassembling into its component parts for efficient and convenient shipping and usage. The assembled pole may be used in covered structures, such as gazebos and awnings, for example, with gazebos being particularly preferred.
- In one embodiment, referring to
FIG. 2 , components of an assembled pole are:pole 2, rectangular fender boards 7, fender corner boards 8,base board 9, first guide board 6,cover board 5, sheath 4,fender board 3, and second guide board 1.Pole 2 is shown as having a square shape, but may be round or any suitable shape. Four rectangular-shaped fender boards 7 and four fender corner boards 8 are shown by way of example only inFIG. 2 , but any shapes or numbers of fender boards or fender corner boards may be utilized. Similarly, sheath 4 is shown as cylindrical, but is not limited to any particular shape, nor are the shapes ofbase board 9, first guide board 6,cover board 5,fender board 3, and second guide board 1 limited to those illustrated inFIG. 2 . - Referring to
FIG. 3 , a preferred embodiment for connecting fender boards and fender corner boards is illustrated. Fender corner board 8 contains recesses 8-1 into which sides 7-1 of fender boards 7 may be engaged, thereby interconnecting the fender boards. - In a preferred method for assembling the components, referring to
FIG. 2 , first join bottom end ofpole 2 tobase board 9, preferably using screws (although any fastening means may be employed). Next join fender boards 7 with fender corner boards 8 to form a pen into whichpole 2 is slotted. Thread first guide board 6 and position therewith fender boards 7 and fender corner boards 8, and thenthread cover board 5 over first guide board 6. Next thread sheath 4, followed byfender board 3, and second guide board 1. First guide board 6 and second guide board 1 may be joined topole 2, preferably using screws (although any fastening means may be employed).FIG. 1 illustrates the fully assembled pole.
