Abstract
A hand tool accessory comprises a tool tray and a plurality of measuring members, each being located in an insertion slot of the tool tray and having a measuring block corresponding in size and shape to a wrench socket. The measuring block of each of the measuring members is provided with a measuring hole corresponding in size and shape to a screwdriver tip.
Description
- The present invention relates generally to a socket wrench, and more particularly to an accessory for organizing the sockets of the socket wrench in a manner to facilitate the selecting of a desired socket.
- The socket wrench is generally provided with a number of cylindrical sockets which fit over a number of nuts or bolts of specific sizes and shapes. The user of the socket wrench is often annoyed by a situation in which the size and the shape of a nut or bolt to be worked on is not known to the user. As a result, it is very time-consuming for the user of the socket wrench to select a socket in conformity with a specific size and shape of the nut or bolt. The situation becomes more acute when the nut or bolt is located at a hard-to-reach area in which there is a very limited space for the user of the socket wrench to maneuver.
- The primary objective of the present invention is to provide a hand tool accessory comprising a board which is provided with a plurality of slots for holding tips of screw or nut drivers, as well as measuring members. Each of the measuring members is provided with a measuring block of a specific size and shape. The measuring block is provided with a measuring hole of a specific size and shape. The measuring block is intended to measure the size and the shape of a wrench socket, whereas the measuring hole is intended for measuring the size and the shape of a screw driver tip or nut driver tip.
- The features and the advantages of the present invention will be more readily understood upon a thoughtful deliberation of the following detailed description of a preferred embodiment of the present invention with reference to the accompanying drawings.

FIG. 7 shows still another schematic view of the preferred embodiment of the present invention at work. -
FIG. 8 shows a schematic view of a support frame of the present invention. -
FIG. 9 shows a schematic view of a magnet of the present invention. - As shown in
FIGS. 1-3 , atool tray 1 of the preferred embodiment of the present invention is provided in proximity of one side thereof with a hanging hole 11 to facilitate the hanging of thetool tray 1. Located in proximity of the hanging hole 11 are twoclamping seats 12 which are used to hold ahandle 2 of the socket wrench. Thetool tray 1 is further provided with a plurality of locating pillars 13 which are of various sizes and are circularly arranged. Each of these locating pillars 13 is used to hold asocket 3 which has afitting end 31 of a specific shape, such as E shape, large R angle, small R angle, hexagon, etc. Thetool tray 1 is further provided with a raised disk 14 which is in turn provided at the center thereof with a locating pillar 13 for holding achuck 4 of ascrewdriver tip 5. The raised disk 14 is further provided with a plurality of receiving slots 15 of various sizes and circumventing the locating pillar 13. The receiving slots 15 are intended to hold thescrewdriver tips 5, each having ahead end 51 of a specific shape, such as ring shape, cruciform shape, slotted shape, hexagonal shape, E shape, etc. The raised disk 14 is further provided with a plurality of insertion slots 16 which are of various sizes and are circularly arranged. Each of the insertion slots 16 is provided therein with a position-confining guide slot 17. A plurality of measuringmembers 6 are held in the insertion slots 16. Themeasuring members 6 have amain body 61 which is provided in the periphery with aprojection 62 corresponding in location to the guide slot 17 of the insertion slot 16. Themain body 61 is provided with ameasuring block 63 corresponding in size and shape to thefitting end 31 of thesocket 3. Themeasuring block 63 is provided with ameasuring hole 64 corresponding in size and shape to thehead end 51 of thescrewdriver tip 5. Themeasuring member 6 is received in the insertion slot 16 such that theprojection 62 of themeasuring member 6 is inserted into the guide slot 17 of the insertion slot 16, thereby enabling themeasuring member 6 to be secured in place in the insertion slot 16. Thetool tray 1 is provided in the back thereof with asupport frame 18 capable of swiveling. - As shown in
FIGS. 3-5 , themeasuring holes 64 have various shapes in conformity with the shapes of thefitting ends 31 of thesockets 3. When a worker is to unfasten anut 7 in a narrow space, the worker may use themeasuring member 6 of thetool tray 1 to measure thenut 7 by trying to fit themeasuring hole 64 over thenut 7. Themain body 61 of themeasuring member 6 is provided with a specific size mark printed thereon. If the measuringmember 6 fits over thenut 7, the worker can select thesocket 3 corresponding in size to themeasuring member 6. Thesocket 3 is then mounted on thewrench handle 2 to unfasten thenut 7. - As shown in
FIGS. 3, 6 , and 7, themeasuring blocks 63 of themeasuring members 6 are of various shapes corresponding to the shapes of thehead ends 51 of thescrewdriver tips 5. When the worker is encountered with a situation calling for the work of unfastening abolt 8 having a head with ahexagonal slot 81, the worker may use themeasuring member 6 of thetool tray 1 in such a manner that the measuringblock 63 of themeasuring member 6 is fitted on a trial basis into thehexagonal slot 81 of the head of thebolt 8. If themeasuring block 63 fits, the worker can tell the size which is marked on themain body 61 of themeasuring member 6. Accordingly, the size of thehexagonal slot 81 of thebolt 8 is thus knows to the worker, who can then select theright chuck 4 and thescrewdriver tip 5 to unfasten thebolt 8 in conjunction with thehandle 2. - As shown in
FIG. 8 , thesupport frame 18 of thetool tray 1 of the present invention is so swiveled as to tilt thetool tray 1 to facilitate the removing of a desired element from thetool tray 1 by the user of the present invention. - As shown in
FIG. 9 , thetool tray 1 of the present invention is provided in the underside with ahorizontal seat plate 19 which is in turn provided in the underside thereof with amagnet 20. The tool tray 1 of the present invention can be thus attached to a metal object by means of a magnetic attraction of themagnet 20. - The embodiment of the present invention described above is to be regarded in all respects as being illustrative and nonrestrictive. Accordingly, the present invention may be embodied in other specific forms without deviating from the spirit thereof. The present invention is therefore to be limited only by the scopes of the following claims.
