Description

    FIELD OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention relates generally to a socket wrench, and more particularly to an accessory for organizing the sockets of the socket wrench in a manner to facilitate the selecting of a desired socket.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • The socket wrench is generally provided with a number of cylindrical sockets which fit over a number of nuts or bolts of specific sizes and shapes. The user of the socket wrench is often annoyed by a situation in which the size and the shape of a nut or bolt to be worked on is not known to the user. As a result, it is very time-consuming for the user of the socket wrench to select a socket in conformity with a specific size and shape of the nut or bolt. The situation becomes more acute when the nut or bolt is located at a hard-to-reach area in which there is a very limited space for the user of the socket wrench to maneuver.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The primary objective of the present invention is to provide a hand tool accessory comprising a board which is provided with a plurality of slots for holding tips of screw or nut drivers, as well as measuring members. Each of the measuring members is provided with a measuring block of a specific size and shape. The measuring block is provided with a measuring hole of a specific size and shape. The measuring block is intended to measure the size and the shape of a wrench socket, whereas the measuring hole is intended for measuring the size and the shape of a screw driver tip or nut driver tip.
  • The features and the advantages of the present invention will be more readily understood upon a thoughtful deliberation of the following detailed description of a preferred embodiment of the present invention with reference to the accompanying drawings.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • FIG. 1 shows an exploded view of the preferred embodiment of the present invention.
  • FIG. 2 shows a schematic view of the preferred embodiment of the present invention in combination.
  • FIG. 3 shows a side schematic view of the preferred embodiment of the present invention.
  • FIG. 4 shows a schematic view of the preferred embodiment of the present invention at work.
  • FIG. 5 shows another schematic view of the preferred embodiment of the present invention at work.
  • FIG. 6 shows still another schematic view of the preferred embodiment of the present invention at work.
  • FIG. 7 shows still another schematic view of the preferred embodiment of the present invention at work.
  • FIG. 8 shows a schematic view of a support frame of the present invention.
  • FIG. 9 shows a schematic view of a magnet of the present invention.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
  • As shown in FIGS. 1-3, a tool tray 1 of the preferred embodiment of the present invention is provided in proximity of one side thereof with a hanging hole 11 to facilitate the hanging of the tool tray 1. Located in proximity of the hanging hole 11 are two clamping seats 12 which are used to hold a handle 2 of the socket wrench. The tool tray 1 is further provided with a plurality of locating pillars 13 which are of various sizes and are circularly arranged. Each of these locating pillars 13 is used to hold a socket 3 which has a fitting end 31 of a specific shape, such as E shape, large R angle, small R angle, hexagon, etc. The tool tray 1 is further provided with a raised disk 14 which is in turn provided at the center thereof with a locating pillar 13 for holding a chuck 4 of a screwdriver tip 5. The raised disk 14 is further provided with a plurality of receiving slots 15 of various sizes and circumventing the locating pillar 13. The receiving slots 15 are intended to hold the screwdriver tips 5, each having a head end 51 of a specific shape, such as ring shape, cruciform shape, slotted shape, hexagonal shape, E shape, etc. The raised disk 14 is further provided with a plurality of insertion slots 16 which are of various sizes and are circularly arranged. Each of the insertion slots 16 is provided therein with a position-confining guide slot 17. A plurality of measuring members 6 are held in the insertion slots 16. The measuring members 6 have a main body 61 which is provided in the periphery with a projection 62 corresponding in location to the guide slot 17 of the insertion slot 16. The main body 61 is provided with a measuring block 63 corresponding in size and shape to the fitting end 31 of the socket 3. The measuring block 63 is provided with a measuring hole 64 corresponding in size and shape to the head end 51 of the screwdriver tip 5. The measuring member 6 is received in the insertion slot 16 such that the projection 62 of the measuring member 6 is inserted into the guide slot 17 of the insertion slot 16, thereby enabling the measuring member 6 to be secured in place in the insertion slot 16. The tool tray 1 is provided in the back thereof with a support frame 18 capable of swiveling.
  • As shown in FIGS. 3-5, the measuring holes 64 have various shapes in conformity with the shapes of the fitting ends 31 of the sockets 3. When a worker is to unfasten a nut 7 in a narrow space, the worker may use the measuring member 6 of the tool tray 1 to measure the nut 7 by trying to fit the measuring hole 64 over the nut 7. The main body 61 of the measuring member 6 is provided with a specific size mark printed thereon. If the measuring member 6 fits over the nut 7, the worker can select the socket 3 corresponding in size to the measuring member 6. The socket 3 is then mounted on the wrench handle 2 to unfasten the nut 7.
  • As shown in FIGS. 3, 6, and 7, the measuring blocks 63 of the measuring members 6 are of various shapes corresponding to the shapes of the head ends 51 of the screwdriver tips 5. When the worker is encountered with a situation calling for the work of unfastening a bolt 8 having a head with a hexagonal slot 81, the worker may use the measuring member 6 of the tool tray 1 in such a manner that the measuring block 63 of the measuring member 6 is fitted on a trial basis into the hexagonal slot 81 of the head of the bolt 8. If the measuring block 63 fits, the worker can tell the size which is marked on the main body 61 of the measuring member 6. Accordingly, the size of the hexagonal slot 81 of the bolt 8 is thus knows to the worker, who can then select the right chuck 4 and the screwdriver tip 5 to unfasten the bolt 8 in conjunction with the handle 2.
  • As shown in FIG. 8, the support frame 18 of the tool tray 1 of the present invention is so swiveled as to tilt the tool tray 1 to facilitate the removing of a desired element from the tool tray 1 by the user of the present invention.
  • As shown in FIG. 9, the tool tray 1 of the present invention is provided in the underside with a horizontal seat plate 19 which is in turn provided in the underside thereof with a magnet 20. The tool tray 1 of the present invention can be thus attached to a metal object by means of a magnetic attraction of the magnet 20.
  • The embodiment of the present invention described above is to be regarded in all respects as being illustrative and nonrestrictive. Accordingly, the present invention may be embodied in other specific forms without deviating from the spirit thereof. The present invention is therefore to be limited only by the scopes of the following claims.
