Abstract

A corner mounted tray, atop the upper surfaces of shower bath walls, is triangular in shape, comprises a perforated bottom surface, upstanding sidewalls and angled front wall and is releasably attached to a vertical wall by screws. The tray is supported on top of the walls in the corner.

Description

1. BACKGROUND

This invention relates to a corner-mounted tray atop the upper surfaces of the shower bath walls.
In prior art bath accessories like soap and shampoo bottles are stored below the level of showerhead, exposing them to water and moisture resulting in the mildew build up. Due to prolong exposure to water the soap is dissolved faster, becomes gooey and does not last long. The storage spaces in the shower bath are often not adequate resulting in falling accessories particularly when slippery after being exposed to water and moisture. This can be frustrating to the user. The typical storage in the shower bath does not provide for safety to young children who can easily reach the accessories containing potentially harmful chemicals or objects. Space in the shower bath is limited and traditional accessory holders either limit the usable space or interfere with the use of shower bath.
It is, therefore, an object of the present invention to provide utility and method for overcoming the problems and limitations of the prior art.
In accordance with this invention, a corner-mounted tray atop the upper surfaces of shower bath walls is provided. The tray is triangular in shape and comprises a perforated bottom surface, upstanding sidewalls and angled front wall. The tray is releasably attached to vertical walls by screws. The tray is supported on top of the walls in the corner.
It is accordingly an object of the invention to provide a corner-mounted tray above the area exposed to water from showerhead.
Another object of the invention is to provide an accessory storage in an otherwise unused space such as the corner high in the shower baths.
Yet another object of the invention is to provide a utility to keep the bathroom accessories dry.
Another object of the invention is to prolong the life of bath accessories by minimizing the exposure to water and moisture.
Another object of the invention is to provide a utility to minimize the direct exposure of accessories to water and moisture.
Another object of the invention is to provide for easy access to accessories for adults and at the same time keep potentially harmful accessories out of the reach of children.
Another object of the invention is to provide a storage utility for shower bath.
Another object is to provide removable storage utility for easy clean up.
Another object is to provide a secure storage utility minimizing the risk of dislodging the tray unintentionally.
Another object is to convert the shower bath walls into weight bearing surfaces.
Another object is to provide extra usable surface in the shower bath.
Another object is to provide a utility preventing slippage of accessories in shower baths.

SUMMARY OF INVENTION

The present invention is a corner mounted tray, atop the upper surfaces of shower bath walls, is triangular in shape, comprises a perforated bottom surface, upstanding sidewalls and angled front wall and is releasably attached to a vertical wall by screws. The tray is supported on top of the walls in the corner.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The following description is demonstrative in nature and is not intended to limit the scope of the invention or its application or uses.
The current invention is a tray that is used as a removable storage utility area above the showerhead in shower area. The invention converts unusable horizontal surface above the showerhead into usable weight bearing surface and increases the horizontal surface above the showerhead.
FIG. 1 shows the front view. Triangular shape bottom surface 1 is approximately 8.5 inches long in front and 6.5 inches long on each side. Bottom surface is perforated and has 2 degrees draft for drainage towards the front. The corner edges of the bottom surface are curved. There are two side walls 2 and 3, each approximately 5 inches long and 1 inch tall and has a curved edge. These sidewalls are at 90 degree angle in relation to the bottom surface. Front wall 4 is approximately 2 inch tall and 6.5 inch wide and has a curved edge. This front wall is at approximately 65 degree angle in relation to the bottom surface. Thickness of the walls and the bottom surface is variable depending upon the material used which can be either steel, plastic or any other material appropriate for this application.
Triangular shape is convenient, practical and provides increased usable surface without compromise to the space in shower bath. This shape also allows converting the available upper surfaces of the two walls into weight bearing surfaces. Weight is carried on the walls and not on the mounting screws allowing for storage of heavier items, eliminating the risk of breaking the mount and dislodging the tray.
FIG. 2 shows the side view with perforations 5 for drainage. The corner edge between the two sidewalls is curved allowing for installation in the curved corners. There is approximately 2 degrees draft at the bottom surface, which allows the fluids and water to drain towards the front and not towards the corner. The corner is open allowing easy cleanup and backward drainage, if desired, while cleaning.
Each sidewall contains a hole for the screw. These screw holes are different from each other. This unique feature (different shape holes) eliminates the risk of accidentally dislodging the tray and injuring the user while showering. This feature provides for easy installation and removal while preventing accidental dislodging. The hole is above the bottom surface to prevent undesirable drainage through the hole. The hole is designed so that the tray can be easily mounted, removed and placed back. The different shape holes decrease the risk of accidentally dislodging the tray. Installation of the tray is simple. The screw holes can be covered with variety of options for aesthetic or any other reason. FIG. 3 shows the installation of the tray. To install the tray is placed in the corner on top of the walls and screwed into the sidewall on each side. To remove, the tray is lifted up slided sideway and outward.
Front wall is angled and is shorter than the sidewalls and has a draft for proper drainage. This wall prevents the objects from falling. The size and the angle of this wall also provides for a surface on the outer side suitable for text or advertisement display. Shorter front wall allows convenience while reaching the objects or placing them. This wall does not extent all the way to the corner to allow for fluid drainage on each side.
In the preferred embodiment, the tray does not install to the vertical shower walls of the shower. The tray sits on top of the shower walls and is attached to the drywalls, which are separate from shower walls and is positioned above the shower head of the shower. Said tray is attached to said drywall through an attachment means such as screws. Said tray is used to hold shower and bathroom accessories horizontally above the showerhead for ease of access while keeping them out of the flow and splash of water from the shower head while increasing the horizontal surface available in the shower area.
The tray can be used to keep harmful objects and products out of the reach of young children. Prior art that is attached to the vertical shower walls below the showerhead, which makes it easier for young children to reach harmful objects.

Claims

1. A device to increase the horizontal surface of the shower bath comprising:

A corner mounted tray triangular in shape that attaches above the upper surfaces of shower bath walls above the shower head which has a perforated bottom surface, with two upstanding sidewalls contacted to said bottom surface at the edge of said bottom surface and angled front wall connected to said bottom surface at the edge of said bottom surface with said tray being removable from said wall.

2. A device according to claim 1 in which said tray is supported on top of the walls in a corner between two walls.

3. A device according to claim 1 which is attached to said walls by a plurality of screws with said tray having a plurality of screw holes with each screw hole different from each other.

4. A device according to claim 1 in which said bottom surface has a 2 degrees draft for drainage towards the front of said tray.

5. A device according to claim 1 in which said two side walls with a curved edge with said side walls being at 90 degrees from said bottom surface with each sidewall having a hole for an attaching means with said hole being above said bottom surface.

6. A device according to claim 5 with said side walls being 5 inches long and 1 inch tall.

7. A device according to claim 1 in which the back corner of said tray is open allowing easy cleanup and backward drainage.

8. A device according to claim 1 in which each said sidewall has a hole for a connecting means.

9. A device according to claim 8 in which said connecting means is a screw.

10. A device according to claim 1 in which said side walls do not extent all the way to the corner to allow for fluid drainage on each side.

11. A device according to claim 1 in which said tray to is used to hold shower and bathroom accessories above the shower head.

12. A device according to claim 1 in which said tray is used to hold accessories on upper surfaces of shower and bath walls.

13. A device according to claim 1 in which said tray is used to increase the horizontal surface of shower and tubs.

14. A device according to claim 1 in which said tray is used to keep harmful objects and products out of the reach of young children.

15. A device according to claim 1 in which said tray converts unusable horizontal surface above the showerhead into usable weight bearing surface.

16. A device comprising a corner mounted tray triangular in shape that attaches above the upper surfaces of shower bath walls above the shower head where said tray has a perforated bottom surface, upstanding sidewalls extending from said bottom surface with angled front wall attached to said bottom surface, in which said tray is supported on top of the walls in a corner between two said walls and is attached to said walls above the showerhead by a plurality of connecting means, which said two side walls have a curved edge forming a 90 degree angle in relation to said bottom surface, which said bottom surface has a 2 degrees draft which allows the fluids and water to drain towards the front if said tray the corner and with said side walls not extending all the length of the edge of said bottom with said tray being removable from said wall where said tray attached to said walls by a plurality of screws with said tray having a plurality of screw holes with each screw hole different from each other.

17. A device according to claim 15 in which said tray is used to keep harmful objects and products out of the reach of young children.

18. A device according to claim 15 in which said tray converts unusable horizontal surface above the showerhead into usable weight bearing surface.

19. A device according to claim 15 in which said tray to is used to hold shower and bathroom accessories above the shower head.

20. A device according to claim 15 in which said tray is used to hold accessories on upper surfaces of shower and bath walls.
