Abstract

A roman shade includes a headrail, a first shade cloth mounted on the headrail, and a second shade cloth mounted on the headrail and having a light permeability different from that of the first shade cloth. Thus, the first shade cloth and the second shade cloth have different light permeability, so that the first shade cloth and the second shade cloth are used individually or co-operate with each other to provide different shading effects, thereby changing the indoor viewing effects so as to satisfy the user's different requirements.

Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of the Invention
  • The present invention relates to a roman shade, and more particularly to a double-layer roman shade.
  • 2. Description of the Related Art
  • A conventional roman shade comprises a headrail, a shade cloth mounted on the headrail, and a lift device mounted on the headrail and connected to the shade cloth to control movement of the shade cloth. However, the shade cloth has a constant light permeability, so that the shade cloth provides a single shading effect without changing the indoor viewing effect and cannot satisfy the user's different requirements. In addition, when the shade cloth is pulled upward, the indoor condition is exposed to the ambient environment, so that the conventional roman shade cannot prevent a person from peeping outdoors, thereby decreasing the privacy of the house.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • In accordance with the present invention, there is provided a roman shade, comprising:
  • a headrail;
  • a first shade cloth mounted on the headrail; and
  • a second shade cloth mounted on the headrail and having a light permeability different from that of the first shade cloth.
  • The primary objective of the present invention is to provide a double-layer roman shade that provides different shading effects, thereby enhancing the versatility of the roman shade.
  • Another objective of the present invention is to provide a roman shade, wherein the first shade cloth and the second shade cloth have different light permeability, so that the first shade cloth and the second shade cloth are used individually or co-operate with each other to provide different shading effects, thereby changing the indoor viewing effects so as to satisfy the user's different requirements.
  • A further objective of the present invention is to provide a roman shade, wherein the first shade cloth having greater light permeability is pulled downward completely, and the second shade cloth having smaller light permeability is moved to change the indoor projected area by the sun, so that the roman shade can provide a proper light permeable effect by provision of the first shade cloth and can also prevent a person from peeping outdoors by provision of the second shade cloth.
  • Further benefits and advantages of the present invention will become apparent after a careful reading of the detailed description with appropriate reference to the accompanying drawings.

  • FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a roman shade in accordance with the preferred embodiment of the present invention;

  • FIG. 4 is a perspective view of a roman shade in accordance with another embodiment of the present invention; and
  • FIG. 5 is a partially cut-away exploded perspective view of the roman shade as shown in FIG. 4.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • Referring to the drawings and initially to FIGS. 1-3, a double-layer roman shade 10 in accordance with the preferred embodiment of the present invention comprises a headrail 1, a first (or inner) shade cloth 2 mounted on the headrail 1, a second (or outer) shade cloth 3 mounted on the headrail 1 and spaced from the first shade cloth 2, a covering cloth 17 mounted on a side of the headrail 1, and two end caps 16 mounted on two ends of the headrail 1. Preferably, the second shade cloth 3 has a light permeability different from and smaller than that of the first shade cloth 2.
  • The roman shade 10 further comprises a first lift device 4 mounted on the headrail 1 and connected to the first shade cloth 2 to control movement of the first shade cloth 2, and a second lift device 5 mounted on the headrail 1 and connected to the second shade cloth 3 to control movement of the second shade cloth 3.
  • A locking plate 12 is mounted on a bottom of the headrail 1, and each of the first shade cloth 2 and the second shade cloth 3 has an end secured on the locking plate 12. The bottom of the headrail 1 is formed with a locking groove 11 for mounting the locking plate 12.
  • The headrail 1 is formed with two spaced first through holes 13 and two spaced second through holes 130. The locking plate 12 is formed with two spaced first through bores 121 each aligning with a respective one of the first through holes 13 of the headrail 1 and two spaced second through bores 1210 each aligning with a respective one of the second through holes 130 of the headrail 1.
  • The first lift device 4 includes a first lift cord 14 having an end in turn extended through each of the first through holes 13 of the headrail 1 and each of the first through bores 121 of the locking plate 12 and connected to the first shade cloth 2 to control movement of the first shade cloth 2.
  • The second lift device 5 includes a second lift cord 140 having an end in turn extended through each of the second through holes 130 of the headrail 1 and each of the second through bores 1210 of the locking plate 12 and connected to the second shade cloth 3 to control movement of the second shade cloth 3.
  • When in use, the first shade cloth 2 is pulled downward, and the second shade cloth 3 is lifted by the second lift cord 140 of the second lift device 5 as shown in FIG. 1. Alternatively, the second shade cloth 3 is pulled downward, and the first shade cloth 2 is lifted by the first lift cord 14 of the first lift device 4. Alternatively, both of the first shade cloth 2 and the second shade cloth 3 are pulled downward as shown in FIG. 3.
  • Accordingly, the first shade cloth 2 and the second shade cloth 3 have different light permeability, so that the first shade cloth 2 and the second shade cloth 3 are used individually or co-operate with each other to provide different shading effects, thereby changing the indoor viewing effects so as to satisfy the user's different requirements. In addition, the first shade cloth 2 having greater light permeability is pulled downward completely, and the second shade cloth 3 having smaller light permeability is moved to change the indoor projected area by the sun, so that the roman shade 10 can provide a proper light permeable effect by provision of the first shade cloth 2 and can also prevent a person from peeping outdoors by provision of the second shade cloth 3.
  • Referring to FIGS. 4 and 5, the bottom of the headrail 1 is formed with two locking grooves 11 for mounting two locking plates 12, and each of the first shade cloth 2 and the second shade cloth 3 has an end secured on a respective one of the two locking plates 12. Thus, the first shade cloth 2 and the second shade cloth 3 are mounted on the headrail 1 independently and can be washed or replaced individually, thereby facilitating maintenance of the first shade cloth 2 and the second shade cloth 3. The roman shade 10 further comprises two roller seats 15 mounted on the headrail 1 for supporting the first lift cord 14 of the first lift device 4 and the second lift cord 140 of the second lift device 5 to facilitate movement of the first lift cord 14 of the first lift device 4 and the second lift cord 140 of the second lift device 5.
  • Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment(s) as mentioned above, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the scope of the present invention. It is, therefore, contemplated that the appended claim or claims will cover such modifications and variations that fall within the true scope of the invention.

Claims (8)

1. A roman shade, comprising:
a headrail;
a first shade cloth mounted on the headrail; and
a second shade cloth mounted on the headrail and having a light permeability different from that of the first shade cloth.
2. The roman shade in accordance with claim 1, further comprising a first lift device mounted on the headrail and connected to the first shade cloth to control movement of the first shade cloth, and a second lift device mounted on the headrail and connected to the second shade cloth to control movement of the second shade cloth.
3. The roman shade in accordance with claim 1, further comprising a locking plate mounted on a bottom of the headrail, and each of the first shade cloth and the second shade cloth has an end secured on the locking plate.
4. The roman shade in accordance with claim 3, wherein the bottom of the headrail is formed with a locking groove for mounting the locking plate.
5. The roman shade in accordance with claim 1, wherein the second shade cloth has a light permeability smaller than that of the first shade cloth.
6. The roman shade in accordance with claim 1, further comprising two locking plates each mounted on a bottom of the headrail, and each of the first shade cloth and the second shade cloth has an end secured on a respective one of the two locking plates.
7. The roman shade in accordance with claim 6, wherein the bottom of the headrail is formed with two locking grooves for mounting two locking plates.
8. The roman shade in accordance with claim 2, further comprising two roller seats mounted on the headrail for supporting the first lift device and the second lift device respectively.
