(01. 221--60) This invention relatesto a dispenser and more for the dispensing opening thereof, which may be particularly to a dispensing deviceassociated with releasably' locked'in closed position'and in open a receptacle. and operative to dispense the conposition. I v tents in desired quantities. In accordance with this invention, a cap mem- Receptacles used in the packagingofmaterials, her or head portion is provided which may be 5 such as tooth-paste, shaving creams andvarious formed as an integral portion of the receptacle, other pastes. plasticsppowders and liquids, are or which may be detachabl'y applied to the re- -v generally provided witha closure or cap member ceptacl'e as desired. The cap member comprises which is completely removed when the contents a body portion preferably rectangular in shape, are to bedispensed. The removed cap member the body portion'terminating-ina rounded or 10 is often dropped and sometimes lost, causing concylindrical head p0rtion.- A dispensing opening siderable inconvenience and annoyance to the of desired shape and formis provided-in the user. Removable cap members in general use are rounded or cylindrical portion of the cap memalso time-consuming and annoying to reapply to her. A closure member of U-shape form is rothe receptacle.
Various attempts have. beenmade to provide a closure member comprises generally a blade porclosure which is fixed to the receptacle. Such tion contoured to slidably engage the'inside sur-" devices, however have been so expensive'to make face of the cylindrical end portion so as to open as to prohibit their use as a permanent fixture to and close the disp Opening When a single use. Many such devices heretofore prolaterally from the blade portion and seat against vided are further objectionable in that they are the end walls of the body member. ' There is shown in Figs. 5 and 6 a modified form of dispensing device which is especially. adapted for attachment to the neck of. bottlesand compression tubes and used in the dispensing ofliquids. In the form here shown, a funnel'4fl extends from the dispensing aperture IS. The lower end of the dispensing device A is provided with a collar portion 42 which snugly seats around the head portion 4|- of the bottle G. The bottle engaging collar portion 42 is provided with an inturned' lipportion 43 which grips the head .por-

' It is understood that the dispensing device herein disclosed may be made of various modified shapes and forms most suitable for the use to which it is to be applied. The dispensing device may be formed as an integral partof the dispensingtube or receptacle or may be formed as a separate unit and then secured tothe neck portion. The dispensing device may also be provided with a threaded sleeve F as shown more particularly in Fig. 4, thus making it adaptable for attachmentto receptacles having threaded neck portions of different diameters. The dispensing device may be used for dispensing tooth-paste, shaving cream, creams, pastes, and plastics as well as dry or powdered materials and liquids. The dispensing device is compact and strong in construction, attractive in appearance, protects the contents from contamination and exposure, and does not smear or smudge the material ejected on the outside thereof. The device may be made entirely by automatic machine operation-and requires few operations, and' thus is economically adapted for permanent association with receptacles and compression tubes which are thrown away after the contents have been removed.
While the dispensing device is especially adapted to be formed of stamped metal, it is understood that it may be formedof othermaterials, such for example as fibre, cellulose, glass, rubber and other plastic or moulded compositions and materials.
While certain novel features of the invention have been disclosed and are pointed out in the annexed claims, it will be understood that various omissions, substitutions and changes may be made by those skilled in the art without departing from the spirit of the invention.
