- This invention relates to a display mount, and more particularly to a display mount for mounting a flat panel display on a hanging surface.
- With the developments of the flat panel displays, such as the liquid crystal display (LCD) and the plasma display panel (PDP), people's requirements for televisions have been greatly satisfied, since the flat panel display televisions are much thinner and lighter than the conventional CRT televisions and can be made in much larger sizes. Therefore, the flat panel display televisions are progressively gaining popularity throughout the marketplace, and the recreational values thereof are increasing for the reason that they are easily shown up in a wide variety of viewing areas, for example, public places, boardrooms, family rooms, kitchens, bathrooms and vehicles. Accordingly, the mounting devices for the flat panel display televisions need to be provided and well-designed for fitting different environments of the viewing areas.
- Please refer to
FIG. 1 showing a display mount with a display according to the prior art. The display mount comprises afixing arm 11 for fixing to aceiling 12 and a suspendingarm 13 for suspending a flatpanel display television 14. The suspendingarm 13 is first attached to anadapter plate 15 viascrews 16 and then theadapter plate 15 is attached to the back of thetelevision 14 viascrews 17. In addition, plural clips 18 are disposed on the back of thetelevision 14 and theceiling 12 for securing thepower cord 19 of thetelevision 14. - However, since the above display mount of the prior art employs an
adapter plate 15 to attach thetelevision 14, the supporting weight of the display mount is increased, which causes a heavier loading to the display mount. Further, if any one of thescrews 16, which are used to fix the suspendingarm 13 and theadapter plate 15, and thescrews 17, which are used to fix theadapter plate 15 and thetelevision 14, is loosened, thetelevision 14 may fall down and cause damages. In addition, since the display mount does not posses any structure for securing thepower cord 19 of thetelevision 14, thepower cord 19 may hang down outside thetelevision 14 and have a disorderly appearance, or additional elements, such as theclips 18, are needed to secure thepower cord 19. Moreover, since the television may be mounted in various places, the angle of the television has to be adjusted to obtain an optimal viewing angle, and thus an improved hinge structure is required for the display mount so as to position the television at the most optimal viewing position. - Therefore, it is needed to provide a display mount for mounting a flat panel display which can overcome the disadvantages of the prior art as described above.
- It is an object of the present invention to provide a display mount for mounting a flat panel display on a hanging surface, which can fix the display at multi-positions to obtain an optimal viewing angle.

- In accordance with an aspect of the present invention, the display mount for mounting a display on a hanging surface comprises a fixing arm for fixing to the hanging surface, a suspending arm for suspending the display, and a hinge assembly for connecting the fixing arm and the suspending arm so that the suspending arm is pivotally rotated with respect to the fixing arm. The hinge assembly comprises a bracket, a shaft, a lock nut, and a positioning washer for fixing the suspending arm at multi-positions to obtain an optimal viewing angle.
- In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the display is a flat panel display, such as a liquid crystal display (LCD) or a plasma display panel (PDP), and the hanging surface can be a wall, a ceiling, a roof, a cabinet, or a shelf. The fixing arm has plural holes to be screwed to the hanging surface. The fixing arm comprises plural hooks for securing a power cord thereon, and each of the hooks is toward an opposite direction to that of the adjacent hook. The fixing arm further comprises a first locking structure, and the suspending arm comprises a second locking structure to be engaged with the first locking structure of the fixing arm. The suspending arm has plural holes to be screwed through for fastening the display. Similarly, the suspending arm also comprises plural hooks for securing a power cord thereon, and each of the hooks is toward an opposite direction to that of the adjacent hook.
- The hinge assembly further comprises a single-hook washer, a single-hook flange washer, a positioning flange washer and a disc washer. When the shaft is inserted into the bracket, the single-hook washer is disposed between the shaft and the bracket, and when the shaft is screwed on the lock nut, the single-hook flange washer, the positioning flange washer, the disc washer and the positing washer are sequentially disposed between the bracket and the lock nut. The display mount further comprises a swiveling hinge assembly for swiveling the display fastened on the suspending arm to an optimal viewing angle, in which the swiveling hinge assembly comprises a shaft, a positioning washer, a single-hook washer and a lock nut.
- In accordance with another aspect of the present invention, the display mount for mounting a display on a hanging surface comprises a fixing arm for fixing to the hanging surface, a suspending arm for suspending the display, and a hinge assembly for connecting the fixing arm and the suspending arm so that the suspending arm is pivotally rotated with respect to the fixing arm. In which, at least one of the fixing arm and the suspending arm comprises plural hooks for securing a power cord thereon, and each of the hooks is toward an opposite direction to that of the adjacent hook.
- The above objects and advantages of the present invention will become more readily apparent to those ordinarily skilled in the art after reviewing the following detailed description and accompanying drawings, in which:
