Description
- The present invention is related to a bugproof and odorproof sealing ring structure of a sinkhole screen, and more particularly to a sealing ring which can be inlaid in a conventional sinkhole screen to achieve a bugproof and odorproof effect.
- Taiwanese Patent Publication No. 284567 discloses a valve-type bathroom sinkhole screen structure. Such resilient plastic valve-type sinkhole screen substantially can achieve a bugproof and odorproof effect. Such sinkhole screen structure includes a sinkhole cover and a resilient gum ring having multiple radially arranged acute triangular resilient valves. The gum ring is placed on a shoulder section of the sinkhole screen to isolate the sink from the bugs and stink in the draining pipe. However, it is known that pans, cookers, bowls and dishes are frequently washed in the sink with cold or hot water. Therefore, after a period of use, the resilient plastic valves of the gum ring tend to elastically fail and deform and become suspend from the circumference of the gum ring. Under such circumstance, the valves can no more shade the sinkhole and the gum ring will lose its bugproof and odorproof function.
- It is therefore a primary object of the present invention to provide a bugproof and odorproof sealing ring structure of a sinkhole screen. The sealing ring structure has a disc-shaped diaphragm instead of the conventional valve-type gum ring. The diaphragm can truly achieve a bugproof and odorproof effect.
- According to the above object, the bugproof and odorproof sealing ring structure of the sinkhole screen of the present invention includes:
- a base seat which is a substantially ring-shaped body having a screen section, the screen section being formed with multiple perforations, the screen section being formed with holders, an upper end of the base seat being formed with a stepped flange, a lower end of the base seat being formed with a stepped skirt;
- a diaphragm which is substantially a gum-made thin disc, the diaphragm having pinch button and chucking bosses respectively corresponding to the holders of the base seat, the chucking bosses being inserted in the holders to connect the diaphragm with the base seat with outer circumference of the diaphragm tightly attaching to the skirt of the base seat; and
- a gum ring which is substantially a ring body, an inner circumference of the gum ring being formed with an annular groove adapted to the flange of the base seat, whereby the gum ring can be snugly fitted around the flange of the base seat.
- After assembled, the sealing ring is directly placed on a shoulder section of the conventional sinkhole screen to achieve a bugproof and odorproof effect.
- The present invention can be best understood through the following description and accompanying drawings wherein:
-

Therefore, the stink and insects are prevented from entering the kitchen or the room. When a sufficient amount of water falls into thebase seat 10, the weight of the water will depress those parts of the outer circumference of thediaphragm 20 distal from thechucking bosses holders diaphragm 20 is partially forced downward and separated from thestepped skirt 16 of thebase seat 10 as shown inFIG. 4 . At this time, a gap T is defined between the outer circumference of thediaphragm 20 and thestepped skirt 16 and the water can pass through theperforations 12 of thescreen section 11 of thebase seat 10 and the gap T to be immediately drained outdoors from a draining pipe. When the water on upper side of thediaphragm 20 is fully drained out and no water further flows into thebase seat 10, the circumference of thediaphragm 20 restores to its home position to airtight attach to thestepped skirt 16 by means of its own elasticity and the contraction force of the water as well as the adhesion to thestepped skirt 16. - According to the above, when drained, the water only needs to overcome the minor resilient force of the
diaphragm 20 to pass through the gap. In addition, by means of the diaphragm's own elasticity and the contraction force of the water, thediaphragm 20 can easily restore to the airtight state. - The above embodiments are only used to illustrate the present invention, not intended to limit the scope thereof. Many modifications of the above embodiments can be made without departing from the spirit of the present invention.
