Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of the Invention
  • This invention relates to an improved muscle building apparatus assembly, more particularly to an improved muscle building apparatus assembler which is made of a base having a connecting rod protruded from the center of the base and a brace rod connected to the upper section of the connecting rod, and two handle braces pivotally coupled to a V-shaped support rod, and the top of the support rod being pivotally coupled with the brace rod, and thus the handle brace, the support rod, and the brace rod are pivotally coupled as a whole. Therefore, a cushion will not rise when a user lifts the handles of the muscle building apparatus, or uneven exertion will not occur when the user's body presses downward. As a result, the force for supporting the cushion to raise the user's body becomes steady and guides the user's body from moving sideway and prevents possible sports injuries.
  • 2. Description of the Related Art
  • Please refer to the U.S. Pat. No. 6,685,604 entitled “Muscle-building apparatus for press-ups” for a prior-art muscle building apparatus. The bracing mechanism for guiding the cushion is pivotally coupled a brace rod 31 which is substantially a joint rod with three sections 311, 312, 313 and comprised of two brace rods 32 pivotally coupled to both corresponding inner sides of a handle brace 2. An exercise referred to as press-ups is performed by pushing and releasing the handles to achieve the purpose of exercising the whole body of the user.
  • However, in the practice application of the aforementioned two muscle building apparatus assemblies, the brace rods 31 pivotally coupled to the handle braces is used for supporting the cushion to ascend or descend, and its position is located at the joint rod with three sections 311, 312, 313 at the center of the base for simply providing the function of guiding the ascending or descending cushion. If the applied force or the loading is uneven when the cushion rises or the user's body presses downward, it will cause the cushion to deviate sideway and produce a slip angle. As a result, the ascending or descending cannot be made successfully, or even worse, there is a risk of toppling the muscle building apparatus over due to the uneven exertion of force. In view of these shortcomings, the inventor of the present invention conducted extensive researches and finally invented an improved muscle building apparatus assembly to overcome the shortcomings and greatly enhance the practical effectiveness.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The primary objective of this invention is to provide an improved muscle building apparatus assembly made up of a base having a support rod extended upward from both sides of the base, and each support rod being pivotally coupled to a left and a right handle braces, and a cushion; wherein a connecting rod is protruded from the center of the base and a brace rod is connected to the upper section of the connecting rod, such that the brace rod can move vertically up and down inside the connecting rod, and the corresponding ends of the two handle braces are pivotally coupled to a V-shaped support rod, and the top of the support rod is pivotally coupled with the brace rod, and thus the brace rod is positioned between two support rods and becomes a linear structure for the exertion of a balanced force after the left and right handle braces are secured. With the handle brace, the support rod, and the brace rod being pivotally coupled as a whole, the cushion will not rise accordingly when a user lifts the handles of the muscle building apparatus, or an uneven exertion will not occur when the user's body presses downward. As a result, the force for supporting the cushion to raise the user's body becomes steady and guides the user's body from moving sideway and prevents possible sports injuries.

The muscle building apparatus of the invention comprises a base 1 having a support rod 11 extended from both ends of the base 1 and each support rod 11 being pivotally coupled to a left and a right handle braces 2 on the support rod 11, and a cushion 3; wherein the base 1 is substantially H-shaped, and a U-shaped support rod 11 is protruded upward from each of both sides of the base 1 for pivotally mounting a left and a right handle braces 2 to define a first connecting journal D1 and a second connecting journal D2; a connecting rod 12 is protruded from the center of the base 1; a brace rod 13 is coupled to the upper section of the connecting rod 12, such that the brace rod 13 can move vertically up and down inside the connecting rod 12; a locking hole 131 is disposed on the brace rod 13 for pivotally coupling the support rod 22 of the handle brace 2; a bearing plate 14 is mounted onto the top of the brace rod 13; and a cushion 3 is disposed on the bearing plate 14; a pivotal hole 21 is disposed in the middle position of the left and right handle braces 2 for pivotally coupling the handle brace 2 onto the upper section of the support rod 11 of the base 1;
    • the two handle braces 2 are pivotally coupled to a V-shaped support rod 22 on each corresponding inner side, and the support rod 22 has a connecting section 221, 222 at its upper and lower ends respectively, and the bottom of the connecting section 222 is pivotally coupled to the handle brace 2 to define a third connecting journal D3 and a fourth connecting journal D4, and the top of the support rod 22 is secured after its passing through the connecting section 221 and the locking hole 131 into a locking hole 131 in order and then the support rod 22 is secured by a corresponding nut Q, thereby the handle brace 2, the support rod 22, and the brace rod 13 are pivotally coupled as a whole, and the handle brace 2 drives the support rod 22 and the brace rod 13 to rise simultaneously, and makes the brace rod 13 between the two support rods 22. After the left and right handle braces 2 are pivotally coupled with the brace rod 13 by the support rod 22, such that the left and right handle braces 2 and the support rod 2 are aligned linearly for providing an effect of exerting even forces by both hands.
  • Please refer to FIGS. 3 and 4. When a user presses the external ends of the two handle braces 2 downward, the two handle braces 2 use the first connecting journal D1 and the second connecting journal D2 respectively as a fulcrum, so that the support rods 22 disposed on both internal sides of the handle brace 2 drive the brace rod 13 to push the cushion 3 upward and provide users to use the cushion 3 to support their body weight as shown in FIG. 3A. When a user slowly releases the exertion of force on both handle braces 2, the cushion 3 presses on the brace rod 13 by the user's body weight, so that the brace rod 13 drives the support rod 22 to move down. By repeatedly exerting forces and releasing forces by both hands, the exercise simulated to the press-up is achieved as shown in FIG. 3B.
  • With the pivotal connection of the handle brace 2, the support rod 22, and the brace rod 13 as a whole by a screw P and a nut Q, the handle brace 2, the support rod 22, and the brace rod 13 rise simultaneously to drive the cushion upward when the user exerts a force upward. The present invention not only provides a function to guide the cushion 3 to ascend and descend, but also prevents any uneven force or loading when the cushion rises or the user's body presses down. Such arrangement can stabilize the force for the cushion to support the user's body and guide the user's body from moving sideway and thus preventing possible sports injuries.
