Abstract

A pair of earmuffs A pair of earmuffs that allows folding in for storage and easy carry and fully coverage of the ears to keep off the bitter coldness; each earmuff essentially comprised of a disk, a retainer, a hook, a nut, and a cloth covering; the disk being wrapped up in the cloth covering, a tenon of the disk being inserted through a square hole in the retainer to hold the hook by means of two latching blades extended from the outer side of the retainer; a circular plate being extended from the front end of the latching blade; a rod inserted through both latching blades and locked to the nut; a groove provided on the circular plate contacting and holding against each other with multiple teeth provided on the inner edge of the nut to permit inching for adjustment of the optimal wearing comfort.

Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

(a) Technical Field of the Invention
The present invention is related to a pair of earmuffs, and more particularly, to one that is foldable for easy storage and carriage, adjustable for optimal wearing comfort and full coverage of the ears to effectively keep off the bitter coldness.
(b) Description of the Prior Art
In bitter winter, people usually wear heaving clothing including overcoat, scarf and gloves. All the overcoat, scarf and gloves cover up most of the surface area of one's body for people to keep warm and fend off the strike by the bitter wind and coldness. However, in frozen area, mountain area, or in the event of a visit of bitter coldness, those protection clothes may not be sufficient to protect one's ears. Exposed ears in the air are vulnerable to be frozen and pains.
A pair of earmuffs as illustrated in FIG. 1 of the accompanying drawings is designed with a headband and with both ends connected with a retractable frame to be provided with the earmuffs. However, as the shape of the head differs among individuals and people wearing the pair of earmuffs are practically always on the move, the headband and the retractable frame could easily slide forward and both earmuffs displaced. Therefore, constant adjustment of the headband and both earmuffs is required to achieve comfortable wearing. Furthermore, the wearing of a pair of earmuffs always prevent from wearing a hat forcing the people to make a choice for either one. This discourages the application of the earmuffs.
As a pair of earmuffs becomes a must additional to those heavy clothes, the earmuffs of the prior art do not necessarily to fit all the people. People after wearing the earmuffs for a longer time always complain about getting dizzy and pains. Besides, the earmuffs of the prior art when not used create the problem of storage and the risk of being crashed whenever they are fetched for the wearing.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The primary purpose of the present invention is to provide a pair of earmuffs that allows folding in for storage and easy carry and fully coverage of the ears to keep off the bitter coldness. To achieve the purpose, a disk is wrapped up in a cloth covering and contains a retainer; two latching plates extending from the outer side of the retainer; a through hole is provided on a circular plate extending form the front end of the latching blade; a rod extending from one end of the hook inserts through both holes on the circular plates and is locked to a nut; a groove is provided on the outer circumference of the through hole; and multiple teeth are provided on the inner circumference of the nut to contact and hold against each other with the groove of the latching blade to permit inching of the hook to adjust for the optimal wearing comfort.
The foregoing object and summary provide only a brief introduction to the present invention. To fully appreciate these and other objects of the present invention as well as the invention itself, all of which will become apparent to those skilled in the art, the following detailed description of the invention and the claims should be read in conjunction with the accompanying drawings. Throughout the specification and drawings identical reference numerals refer to identical or similar parts.
Many other advantages and features of the present invention will become manifest to those versed in the art upon making reference to the detailed description and the accompanying sheets of drawings in which a preferred structural embodiment incorporating the principles of the present invention is shown by way of illustrative example.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

The following descriptions are of exemplary embodiments only, and are not intended to limit the scope, applicability or configuration of the invention in any way. Rather, the following description provides a convenient illustration for implementing exemplary embodiments of the invention. Various changes to the described embodiments may be made in the function and arrangement of the elements described without departing from the scope of the invention as set forth in the appended claims.
The present invention relates to a pair of earmuffs that allows folding in for storage and easy carry and fully coverage of the ears to keep off the bitter coldness. Referring to FIGS. 2 and 3, a preferred embodiment of the present invention is essentially comprised of a pair of earmuffs; wherein, each earmuff contains a disk 10 (as both earmuffs are identical with the only difference in the orientation of assembly of the members, only one earmuff is described) wrapped in cloth covering 50. Multiple identical vents 11 are evenly distributed on the bottom of the disk 11 and a square tenon 12 surrounded by those multiple vents 11 is provided at the center of the bottom of the disk 1. The tenon 12 is inserted into a square hole 21 provided at the center of a retainer 20 for the retainer 20 to fix onto the bottom of the disk 1. Two latching blades 22 are extended from the outer side of the retainer 20 and a through hole 23 is each provided at a circular plate further extended from the front end of the latching blade 21. A groove 24 is provided on the circumference of the through hole 23, and the groove 24 may be provided in serrated form on the circumference of the through hole 23.
A rod 31 extended from one end of the opening section of a hook 30 in karabiner shape is provided to insert through and expose from both through holes 23 of the retainer 20 to be further locked up with a nut 40. The inner circumference of the nut 40 is serrated with multiple locking teeth 41. As the hook 30 is to be worn over the ear, and those locking teeth 41 on the nut 40 contact groove 24 provided in the latching blade 22 and hold against each other to allows inching of the hook 30 for adjusting the angle of optimal comfort for the wearer of the pair of the earmuffs while helping the earmuff hold in position.
Now referring to FIGS. 4, 4A and FIG. 5, the disk is wrapped in the cloth covering 50 with the square tenon 12 first being inserted through the square hole 21 provided on the retainer 20. The through hole 23 of each circular plate at the tip of both latching plates 22 extended from the front end of the retainer 20 is inserted through the rod 32 of the hook 30 and the rod 32 is then locked to the nut 40. Those multiple teeth 41 provided at the inner circumference of the nut 40 contacts and holds against each other with the groove 24 on the latching blades 24 to permit inching of the hook 30 to adjust for the optimal wearing comfort.
It will be understood that each of the elements described above, or two or more together may also find a useful application in other types of methods differing from the type described above.
While certain novel features of this invention have been shown and described and are pointed out in the annexed claim, it is not intended to be limited to the details above, since it will be understood that various omissions, modifications, substitutions and changes in the forms and details of the device illustrated and in its operation can be made by those skilled in the art without departing in any way from the spirit of the present invention.

Claims

1. A pair of earmuffs that allows folding in for storage and easy carry and fully coverage of the ears to keep off the bitter coldness; wherein, each earmuff comprised of a disk, a retainer, a hook, a nut, and a cloth covering; the disk being wrapped up in the cloth covering, a square tenon being provided on the inner bottom of the disk; a square hole being provided at the center of the retainer; the tenon on the disk being inserted into the square hole of the retainer; two latching blades being extended from the outer side of the retainer; each latching blade being extended from its front end a circular plate; a through hole being provided at the center of the through hole; a groove being provided on the outer circumference of the through hole of the latching plate; the hook being made in a shape of a karabiner; a rod being extended from one end of the opening of the hook; the rod being inserted through and exposed out of both of the through holes at the circular plates each from the latching plate; the exposed end of the rod being locked to a nut; and the inner circumference of the nut being serrated to form multiple teeth; is characterized by that those multiple locking teeth on the inner circumference of the nut contacting and holing against each other with the groove provided on the latching blade of the retainer to allow inching of the hook for optimal wearing comfort.

2. A pair of earmuffs as claimed in claim 1, wherein, the outer circumference of the circular plate extended from the front end of the retainer is serrated to provide multiple locking teeth.
