UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE COMBINED WHIPPER AND SORAPER FOR ICE CREAM FREEZERS Herbert S. Mills, River Forest, 11]., minor to Mills Novelty Company, Chicago, 11]., a corporation of Illinois Application August 28, 1933, Serial No. 687,097
8 Claims. (Cl. 259-9) This invention relates to ice-cream freezers aperture 29 therein having a keyway 3| at one and has for its principal object the provision of side'thereof adapted to receive a key 32 formed a combination whipper and scraper of improved on the rotatable element 25 whereby said frame and simplified construction combining in one is rotated when the motor 24 is energized. The part the functions of two or more separate elebars 21 are of arcuate form and, like the ring 5 ments of previous constructions and being so 26, conform to the inner surface of the cylinder designed as to make possible the removal of the i5 so that said frame may rotate freely therein. cream without withdrawing any ofthe mecha- Combined whipper and scraper blades 33 are nism from the freezer cylinder, the parts being secured to the inner sides of the bars 21 by means also particularly easy to clean. a of screws 34 extending through apertures 35 in 10 With these and other objects in view, which said blades. 2. In a freezer, a combined whipper and scraper comprising a rotatable unit including a one-piece angle member positioned adjacent the freezer cylinder when the unit is inserted therein, one part of said member forming a blade adapted to contact with the cylinder wall to scrape the latter when the unit is rotated and another part of said member forming a whipper element extending inwardly from said wall to whip the cream during such rotation.
3. In afreezer, a combined whipper and scraper comprising a rotatable unit including an angle member positioned adjacent the freezer cylinder when the unit is inserted therein, said member having a blade adapted to contact with the cylinder wall to scrape the latter when the unit is rotated and a whipper element rigid with said scraper blade extending inwardly from said wall to whip the cream during such rotation, said whipper element extending substantially at right angles to said blade.
4. In a freezer, a combined whipper and scraper comprising a rotatable unit including a plurality of angle members positioned adjacent the freezer cylinder when the unit is inserted therein, said members each having a blade adapted to contact with the cylinder wall to scrape the latter when the unit is rotated and a whipper element rigid with said scraper blade extending inwardly from said wall to whip the cream during such rota- 5. In a freezer, a combined whipper and scraper comprising a rotatable unit including an angle member positioned adjacent the freezer cylinder,
when the unit is inserted therein, said member having a blade adapted to contact with the cylinder wall to scrape the latter when the unit is rotated and a whipper element integral with said blade extending inwardly from said wall to whip the cream during such rotation.
6. In a freezer, a combined whipper and scraper comprising a rotatable unit including an angle member positioned adjacent the freezer cylinder when the unit is inserted therein, said member having a blade adapted to contact with the cylinder wall to scrape the latter when the unit is rotated and a whipper element integral with said blade extending inwardly from said wall to whip the cream during such rotation, said whipper element extending substantially at right angles to said blade.
'7. In a freezer, a combined whipper and scraper comprising a rotatable unit including a plurality of angle members positioned adjacent the freezer cylinder when the unit is inserted therein, said members each having a blade adapted to contact with the cylinder wall to scrape the latter when the unit is rotated and a whipper element integral with said blade extending inwardly from said wall to whip the cream during such rotation.
8. In a freezer, the combination with a freezer cylinder of a combined whipping and scraping device mounted for rotation in the cylinder, the scraper element of said device being positioned adjacent the circumferential wall of the cylinder and the whipper element of the device extended from said scraper element toward the center of the cylinder, the cylinder having an open and unobstructed space at the center thereof to facilitate removal of the frozen material.
