Abstract
A necklace with interchangeable four-word long inspirational messages, with each message word inscribed on a cooperating one of four metal side-by-side display objects and, during wear, balanced on opposite sides centrally of a prominent display position on the wearer by the weight of the objects serving as ballast, a wide variety of selected noun, verb and adjective words being effective to promote by their inspirational context lifestyle improvements.
Description
- The present invention relates generally to promoting life style improvements in which more particularly the improvements are promoted using inspirational messages.
- As known from common experience, there are numerous exposures to inspirational messages as for example the use on coinage of the inscription “IN GOD WE TRUST.” The inscribed coinage is carried on the person and has limited exposure occurring only when used and primarily only to the user since the display of the inscription is not prominently in view. On the other hand, jewelry, and in particular a necklace, is worn on the person and is in prominent display, but does not communicate an inspirational message, there currently being no synergism between promoting lifestyle improvement via inspirational messages and the display value of necklace jewelry.
- The noted prior art oversight is exemplified by U.S. Pat. No. 5,669,242 for “NECKLACE EXTENSION ACCESSORY” issued to Cayton on Sep. 23, 1997, and patent application publication for “ARTICLE OF JEWELRY” filed by Rapport and published on Oct. 10, 2002, to mention but a few, the '242 patent being adorned by a geometric object and the '514 publication being adorned by a first name.
- Broadly, it is an object of the present invention to overcome the foregoing and other shortcomings of the prior art.
- More particularly, it is an object to provide a necklace with word-displaying objects effective to communicate a significant number of inspirational messages interchangeable of one with another, at the option of the user, all as will be better understood as the description proceeds.
- The description of the invention which follows, together with the accompanying drawings should not be construed as limiting the invention to the example shown and described, because those skilled in the art to which this invention appertains will be able to devise other forms thereof within the ambit of the appended claims.
- FIG. 1 is a front elevation view, in unattached relation, of components of a necklace promoting lifestyle improvements using inspirational messages in accordance with the present invention;
- FIG. 2 is a view of the necklace as worn; and
- FIG. 3 is a chart listing exemplary inspirational messages for interchangeable use on the necklace.
- The popularity of inspirational messages attest to their proven or at least believed ability to promote lifestyle improvements and is the end served by the illustrated necklace, generally designated10, consisting of a length of
chain 12, typically 14 carat gold, having opposite end detachable connecting means, in the specific configuration ofhooks rings necklace 10. -
Component 26, in a preferred embodiment, is fabricated of identical, at least construction wise, word-displaying objects, individually and collectively designated 28, in that each has atop edge 30, abottom edge 32, andopposite side edges rectangular surface 38, and adjacent side edges, as at 40, 42 and 44, are attached to each other in an appropriate manner; the differences being that in the displayed inspirational message “WE ALL ARE ONE,” the word “WE,” a noun, is on the word-displaying object 28 on the left, the word “ARE,” a verb, is on the next word-displaying object 28, and the word “ONE,” an adjective, is on the word-displaying object 28 on the far right. - In the fabrication, metal construction material is used and will be understood to be of a nature that can be inscribed, one word on each word-displaying object28 and four resulting fabricated word-displaying objects 28, selected to collectively display a four-word long inspirational message, individually and collectively designated 46, which may initially be one from the compiled list of FIG. 3 and subsequently another substituted for similar display.
- When worn, the
necklace 10 displays themessage 46 with two word-displaying objects 28 on one side of acentral reference plane 48 and two word-displaying objects 28 on the other side, and in this manner theballast 50 of the metal construction material of thecomponent 26 maintains a display position centrally of thewearer 52. - While the necklace herein shown and disclosed in detail is fully capable of attaining the objects and providing the advantages hereinbefore stated, it is to be understood that it is merely illustrative of the presently preferred embodiment of the invention and that no limitations are intended to the detail of construction or design herein shown other than as defined in the appended claims.
