Abstract

UNI-SEAT is a device designed to ease the problem of having to lift up and close toilet seats. With this device you can press the foot-pedal with your foot and lift up the toilet seats, and then it will automatically close the toilet seat after you release your foot from the foot-pedal.

Description

  • See Drawings and photos page 1: FIG. 1 the Uni-Seat [0004]
  • Questions: Do you have these problems?[0005]
  • Gentlemen, Are you tired of the nagging about leaving the toilet seat up?[0006]
  • Ladies, Are you sick and tired of your man leaving the toilet seat up?[0007]
  • Do you ever get tired of having to flip a toilet seat up and down and up and down in your own home 5-6 times or more a day?[0008]
  • In public restrooms, do you ever get disgusted that someone did not bother to lift up toilet seats and urinated all over them?[0009]
  • When you use your hands to lift up a toilet seat, can you feel the germs spreading from the toilet seat to your hands?[0010]
  • The solution to these problems may be “The Uni-Seat”![0011]
  • Introducing Uni-Seat, a device added on to your toilet that can make a trip to a restroom a little easier. [0012]
  • Device Name: Uni-Seat (I named this because it allows men and women to share a toilet in harmony) [0013]
  • Invented by: Sherwin Jet Yuyungyuen [0014]
  • How it works: Toilet seat opens up with a push of the foot pedal allowing a male user to urinate without having to flip it up by hand. The toilet seat closes down with a release on the foot pedal. [0015]
  • How it Operates: Here are the Basic Operations [0016]
  • 1. Attach the toilet seat bar to the toilet seat by screwing, strapping, fastening, gluing, taping, or any combination to secure both the toilet-seat bar to the toilet seat in place. For illustration, see FIG. 2. Attaching the toilet-seat bar to the toilet seat. [0017]
  • Note: [0018]
  • a) The bar can be attached either left or right side of the toilet seat. Attach the bar to the right side for a right-handed users, and attach the bar to the left side for a left-handed users. [0019]
  • b) The placement of the toilet-seat bar should be approximately 5 inches from the back of the toilet seat. [0020]
  • c) The toilet-seat bar is an L shape medal piece that has a hole at the end for connecting to the push-up bar. The end of the L shape should point down and to the outside of the toilet seat for connection. [0021]
  • 2. Attach the push-up bar to the toilet-seat bar and secure them with a bolt and a nut, but do not screw the bolt too tight allowing enough slack for a rotating movement between the push-up bar and the toilet-seat bar. See FIG. 3. Attaching the push-up bar to the toilet-seat bar. [0022]
  • 3. Attach the foot-pedal bar to the push-up bar and secure them with a bolt and a nut, but again, not to screw the bolt all the way too tight to allow a rotating movement between the foot-pedal bar and the push-up bar. See FIG. 4. Attaching the foot-pedal bar to the push-up bar [0023]
  • 4. Attach the base unit to the foot-pedal bar using a long bolt pin that extends to the base unit for support. See FIG. 5. Attach the base unit to the foot-pedal bar [0024]
  • Note: [0025]
  • a) The long bolt pin should be inserted to the foot-pedal closer to the front end, which leaves the back end of the pedal longer for higher raise. [0026]
  • b) The base serves as a support that holds the long bolt pin in place but it allows the foot-petal to pivot or rotate. [0027]
  • For a completed unit illustration, see FIG. 6. Side view of the unit with the base unit, foot pedal and bars [0028]
  • 5. When you push the front end of the foot-pedal, the back end of the foot-pedal will raise (kind of like a seesaw motion). [0029]
  • After the back end of the foot-pedal raises up, it pushes the push-up bar to rise higher and higher. And then, the push-up bar will push up the toilet-seat bar that is attached to the toilet seat to lift up. Now the toilet seat is lifted up. [0030]
  • See FIG. 7. The toilet is seat lifted up when the foot pedal is pressed. [0031]
  • When the foot-pedal is released or not pressed, the push-up bar stops pushing the toilet seat up. The toilet seat will then comes back down and closes automatically due to gravity. Now the toilet seat is back to its original down position. The (seesaw) reverse motion also occurs at the foot-pedal bar. The back end side of the foot-pedal bar is lowered because it is heavier leaving the front end of the foot pedal raise up and ready to be pressed again. [0032]
  • Note: [0033]
  • An optional hydraulic, an air pump, or a cushioning spring may be added at the bottom of the push up bar or at the base of the device to cushion a loud bang when the food-pedal is released too quickly. [0034]
