Description

    C. DISCUSSION OF PRIOR ART AND BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
  • The apparatus, which is the subject of this invention, is in the category of equipment items used by adults or young children, particularly pre-school children in creative activities, specially drawing and painting. In these activities, work assemblies are utilized having flat surfaces on which adults or children can paint, draw, or perform art work. Such assemblies for young children are adapted specifically for painting, drawing and other related work, as used in pre-school or grade school activities. One particular type of known apparatus on which are materials are placed for rendering art is a conventional table having a flat upper surface, or alternatively, a table having a flat member that is elevated. In those previous embodiments the child works while sitting at the table or standing nearby. Such drawing or painting board surfaces have a rectangular drawing surface, but may vary in size, structure, shad and design. [0001]
  • A frequent problem encountered with these boards is that they are a singular purpose and structure. For instance, in the process of working with water colors or other similar substances or materials, with existing structures, the painting rendered by a child must be physically removed from the drawing board services, usually by hand, while still wet with painting materials, and transported to a separate location to be hung for drying purpose. This process is generally cumbersome and consumes significant areas in limited spatial room. Given the frequency with which art work is utilized by schools with young children, this cumbersome process and space consumption is a continuous problem that requires attention and correspondingly, some alternative to ameliorate. [0002]
  • Yet another problem that prevails in a workplace for art purposes, whether used by children or adults, is that painting surfaces or devices are not adapted to hold the finished painting for drying, particularly when the painting surface or device is being used for yet another successive purpose. Such existing structures are not designed so as to effectively have multipurpose structural attributes to prove a painting surface as well as an integrated drying chamber all in one apparatus. The subject invention is adapted so as to yield such a multipurpose apparatus for art work purposes for children, as well as adult. [0003]
  • The objects set forth below reflect these aspects. [0004]
  • D. OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
  • The object of the subject invention are as follows: [0005]
  • It is an object of the subject invention to provide an improved painting surface with integrated drying surface; [0006]
  • It is also and object of the subject invention to provide a movable painting and drying apparatus; [0007]
  • Yet, another aspect of the subject invention is to provide an improved table covering and workplace device that has multiple functions; [0008]
  • Still another object of the subject invention is to provide an improved water table lid that has the additional structural function of having painting surfaces and interior paint drying areas; [0009]
  • A further object of the subject invention is to provide an improved painting work device, with combined painting, drying functions; [0010]
  • Yet other and further objects of the subject invention can be seen in the following description and claims read in view of the drawings.. [0011]
  • E. IN THE DRAWINGS
  • FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the subject invention, in section; [0012]
  • FIG. 2 is an end elevational view of the subject invention; [0013]
  • FIG. 3 is a top elevational view of the subject invention; [0014]
  • FIG. 4 is an end elevational view of the subject invention showing how paintings are hung to dry. [0015]
  • F. DESCRIPTION OF THE GENERAL EMBODIMENT
  • The subject invention is a multipurpose are unit and workplace assembly for young children or adults for play and education purposes, such assembly comprising a doublesided member having to opposing solid planar members, joined together at their upper edges, in an angular manner, such planar members having on their outer sides work surfaces upon which one can place a paper or similar materials for rendering art work thereon, with the inner a spatial area between the conjoined and opposing planar members having means to hold finished work for drying purposes. [0016]
  • The subject invention encompasses various embodiments in addition to the above, and these embodiments all fall within the scope of the claims annexed to this patent application. [0017]
  • G. DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
  • The description below is of one preferred embodiment of the invention herein and this description of one such preferred embodiment is not to be considered as limiting or constricting the scope of the invention herein and as set forth in the claims. Therefore, because one embodiment is described below does not exclude other potential embodiments within the scope of the claims. Moreover, while the subject invention is focused and centered on painting apparatus, the invention can be structured other than as stated and described as the preferred embodiment. [0018]
  • Reference is had to drawings in which a preferred embodiment of the subject invention is shown. In particular, the basic structure encompassing features of the subject invention is a [0019] multipurpose drawing board 10 comprising and upright member 20, which is in turn comprised of two opposing planar members 30 and 50 with each such planar member having a lower edge 32A and 52A respectively, and an upper edge 34B and 54B respectively. Each planar member 30 and 50 has an outer surface 36A and 56A respectively, as well as an inner service 38B and 58B respectively. Further, each planar member has a first side edge 42 a and 62A respectively. These opposing planar members 30 and 50 are joined at their respective upper edges 34B and 54B to form a linear extending conjoined apex formed by the linear joined of opposing upper edges 34B and 54B. Stated alternately, the subject invention is formed by multiple planar surface members 30 and 50 joined together to form an upright member that has a hollow interior spatial area 80.
  • As can be seen in the drawings, the up [0020] right member 20 once the opposing planar members 30 and 50 and joined along a common linear apex, will be adapted to sit upright on its lower edges 32A and 52A as a free-standing structure having a trihedron shape, with the opposing planar surface members 30 and 50 forming the basic structural legs to support the apparatus upright. In such upright status, the apparatus 10 can be placed on top of a table 100 having an upper surface 110 that can hold and accommodate the apparatus 10 as seen in the drawings.
  • The [0021] apparatus 10 need not be formulated, structured, or incorporated in the exact features as described, but can be incorporated in a structured member such as a table. In short, the invention herein can be incorporated in most any type of structure upon which apparatus can be mounted so long as it is adapted to have opposing; planar surfaces adapted to be used for painting or other work purpose, and within which apparatus is an internally-structured drying surface.
  • Again, referring to the drawings, as seen the [0022] apparatus 10 has and internal spatial area 80 formed or flanked by the inner surfaces 38B and 58B of the planar members 30 and 50 respectively. Integrally affixed on the inner surfaces 38B and 58B of planar members 30 and 50 are clip members 49A and 49B, on inner surface 38B and clip members 69A and 69B on inner surface 58B. These clip members are adapted to hold the upper part of a finished painting or artwork to hand downardly as shown in FIG. 3 within the confines of the spatial area 90 for drying purposes,. As seen in the drawings, the spatial area 90 is open at each end and enclosed between the planar members 30 and 50, the outer surfaces of which are used for drawings, in one embodiment of the subject invention, the lower edges of the planar members 30 and 50 have channeled portions that, in the form of double edges that provide a means to securely hold the apparatus 10 to the edges of table 100. Optionally, the upper apex of the apparatus 10 may have a handle 120—to facilitate moving apparatus 10 from place to place. Moreover, in the embodiment shown, kit is preferable, but not essential, that the planar members are transparent.
