Description

    FIELD OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention relates to chair backrest and more particularly to a backrest pad with height adjustment characteristics. [0001]
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • Pads provided on parts of a piece of furniture (e.g., chair) are well known. It is also known that various backrest pads have been utilized throughout the prior art to fulfil consumers' needs. As understood that the resiliency of backrest pad can give a degree of comfort to the back of a person seated on the chair. The invention has resulted from efforts to develop an improved backrest pad for chair that can be adjustably vertically positioned relative to the backrest. [0002]
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a backrest pad for chair having a backrest including two stiles and two openings each enclosed by stile and backrest. The backrest pad comprises a transversely extended member having an arcuate projection filled with soft material facing front; two side catches; two channels each adjacent catch; and two elastic straps having one ends stitched to channels for permanently fastening In assembly place backrest pad onto the backrest with straps rearward passed through the openings, and wrap straps around the stiles to fasten at the catches. The backrest pad can be adjustably positioned relative to backrest by pulling backrest pad and straps vertically. [0003]
  • The above and other objects, features and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from the following detailed description taken with the accompanying drawings.[0004]
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a chair having a detached backrest pad according to the invention; [0005]
  • FIG. 2 is a partial perspective view showing the processes of fastening elastic straps to stile; [0006]
  • FIG. 3 is a perspective view of the assembled chair and backrest pad; [0007]
  • FIG. 4 is a partial top plan view in part section showing backrest pad of FIG. 3; and [0008]
  • FIG. 5 is a side plan view showing backrest pad adapted to adjust a vertical position relative to the backrest.[0009]
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
  • Referring to FIG. 1, there is shown a chair in accordance with the invention. The improvement of the chair is a [0010] backrest pad 2 and a backrest 1. Backrest 1 comprises two stiles 12 and two openings 11 each enclosed by stile 12 and fabric (or pad) provided on backrest 1. Backrest pad 2 is a transversely extended member having an arcuate projection 21 filled with soft material facing the front, a catch 22 at either side having a T-shaped end, a channel 24 adjacent each catch 22, and two elastic straps 23 having one ends stitched to channels 24 for permanently fastening.
  • Referring to FIG. 2, in assembly of [0011] backrest pad 2 and backrest I first place backrest pad 2 onto backrest 1 with straps 23 rearward passed through openings 11. Then wrap straps 23 around stiles 12 to fasten at T-shaped ends of catches 22.
  • Referring to FIG. 3, there is shown that [0012] backrest pad 2 is elastically assembled to backrest 1 effected by the elasticity of the straps 23.
  • Referring to FIGS. 4 and 5, the height adjustment mechanism of the invention will now be described below. It is designed that the invention (i.e., mainly backrest pad [0013] 2) can be adjustably vertically positioned relative to the backrest 1 by pulling backrest pad 2 and straps 23 upward or downward by hands so as to fit different individuals with various heights.
  • While the invention has been described by means of specific embodiments, numerous modifications and variations could be made thereto by those skilled in the art without departing from the scope and spirit of the invention set forth in the claims. [0014]
