Description
- 1. Field of the Invention
- The present invention relates to water pumps and, more particularly, to a mini water pump, which is well sealed against water leakage and, has means to protect the motor against vibration.
- 2. Description of the Related Art
- Mini water pumps are commonly used in aquarium or the like for pumping water through water filter means. However, due to small size, conventional mini water pumps have low pumping power. Furthermore, conventional mini water pumps leak quickly with use because they use only one single gasket to seal the gap between the output shaft of the motor and the shaft hole of the motor housing.
- The present invention has been accomplished to provide a mini water pump, which eliminates the aforesaid drawbacks. It is one object of the present invention to provide a mini water pump, which achieves high pumping work. It is another object of the present invention to provide a mini water pump, which protects the output shaft of the motor against vibration during rotation. It is still another object of the present invention to provide a mini water pump, which effectively prohibits water leakage. According to one aspect of the present invention, the mini water pump is comprised of a housing, a top cover, a bottom cover, a motor, a bottom shell, and a wheel. The housing has a stub tube, which supports the motor in position, and a conical flange, which supports the output shaft of the motor against vibration and a gasket ring on the output shaft. The bottom cover has an upright stub tube stopped at the conical flange of the housing at the bottom side for the passing of the output shaft of the motor, a plurality of inside annular flanges disposed in the upright stub tube at different elevations, and a plurality of gasket rings respectively supported on the inside annular flanges and mounted on the output shaft of the motor to seal the gap. According to another aspect of the present invention, the bottom shell has a plurality of water inlets in the bottom side, two water outlets in the periphery at two sides, and two output pipes respectively extended from the water outlets. The wheel has a plurality of blades radially spirally integral with the bottom sidewall thereof for driving water from the water inlets to the water outlets of the bottom shell efficiently upon rotation motion of the output shaft of the motor.
- FIG. 1 is an exploded view of a mini water pump according to the present invention.
- FIG. 2 is a sectional assembly view of the mini water pump according to the present invention.
- FIG. 3 is a bottom view of the mini water pump according to the present invention.
- FIG. 4 shows a main pipe connected to the output pipes of the bottom shell through two connecting pipes and a Y-shaped water pipe connector according to the present invention.
- Referring to FIGS. from1 through 3, a mini water pump in accordance with the present invention is shown comprising a motor M having an output shaft 1, a
housing 10 having abottom mounting base 101, atop cover 13 having a peripheralbottom mounting flange 14, abottom cover 16 having abottom mounting flange 160 and atop coupling chamber 17, awheel 20 having radially arranged bottomspiral blades 21, and abottom shell 30 havingwater inlets 32 andwater outlets 33 andoutput pipes 34 extended from thewater outlets 33. The motor M is mounted in thehousing 10. The peripheralbottom mounting flange 14 of thetop cover 13 is fastened to the top open side of thehousing 10, and then sealed with glue. Thetop cover 13 has a downwardly protruded part forced into engagement with an upwardly protruded part of the motor M when covered on thehousing 10. Therefore, thetop cover 13 holds the motor M firmly in position inside thehousing 10. Thebottom cover 16 is covered on the bottom side of thehousing 10 by forcing thebottom mounting base 101 into engagement with thetop coupling chamber 17 and then sealing the connection area with glue. Thewheel 20 is coupled to the output shaft 1 of the motor M and suspended below thebottom cover 16. Thebottom shell 30 is coupled to thebottom mounting flange 160 of thebottom cover 16 around thewheel 20 and sealed with glue, defining a water accumulation chamber. - Referring to FIGS. from1 through 3 again, the
housing 10 comprises astub tube 11 upwardly protruded from the center of the top of thebottom mounting base 11 for supporting the motor M in position, aconical flange 120 downwardly suspended in thestub tube 11, and a center throughhole 12 through the center of theconical flange 120 for the passing of the output shaft 1. Thebottom cover 16 further comprises anupright stub tube 18 disposed at the center inside thetop coupling chamber 17 for supporting theconical flange 120 of thehousing 10 and for the passing of the output shaft 1 of the motor M, and a plurality of insideannular flanges 19 disposed in theupright stub tube 18 at different elevations. During assembly process, gasket rings 2 are respectively mounted on the output shaft 1 and supported on theconical flange 120 of thehousing 10, the insideannular flanges 19 of thebottom cover 16 and the top sidewall of thewheel 20 to seal the gap and to prohibit vibration of the output shaft 1 of the motor M during running of the motor M. Further, thebottom blades 21 are formed integral with the bottom sidewall of thewheel 20 to simplify the fabrication and to reduce the manufacturing cost. - Referring to FIG. 3 again, when the motor M started, the
bottom blades 21 are rotated with thewheel 20 inside thebottom shell 30 to drive water from thewater inlets 32 to thewater outlets 33 and theoutput pipes 34. - Referring to FIG. 4, the two
output pipes 34 of thebottom shell 30 are respectively connected to amain pipe 37 through two connectingpipes 35 and a Y-shapedwater pipe connector 36, enabling output water to be delivered to themain pipe 37. - A prototype of mini water pump has been constructed with the features of FIGS.1˜4. The mini water pump functions smoothly to provide all of the features discussed earlier.
- It is to be understood that the drawings are designed for purposes of illustration only, and are not intended for use as a definition of the limits and scope of the invention disclosed
