Abstract
A base for an exerciser has a frame and four caps. Each cap is attached to the frame and has a resilient sucker disk mounted on the bottom of the cap to provide suction with a floor. With such a base secured to the floor, the exerciser can be kept from moving or wobbling while in use.
Description
- 1. Field of the Invention
- The present invention relates to a base, and more particularly to a base for an exerciser and that can keep the exerciser from moving relative to the ground.
- 2. Description of Related Art
- A conventional exerciser substantially comprises a base (40) and an exercising device mounted on the base (40), like the stepping device shown in FIG. 5. The base (40) is put on the ground and is used to support the exercising device. The conventional base (40) has two lateral rods (41) respectively mounted on two ends of the base (40) to enhance the structural stability of the base (40). A plastic cap (42) is attached to each respective end of the lateral rod (41). With reference FIGS. 6 to 9, the cross sectional shape of the cap (42) can be circular, rectangular or triangular. The cap (42) can increase the friction between the ground and the exerciser so as to keep the base (40) from moving relative to the ground while the exerciser is in operation.
- However, although there are caps (42) mounted on the conventional base (40) to increase the friction between the ground and the exerciser, the conventional base (40) cannot be secured immovably on the ground. The base (40) will still wobble or move relative to the ground when the exerciser is in operation whereby a user may fall and experience injury. Thus, the safety of using the exerciser with the conventional base must be improved.
- To overcome the shortcomings, the present invention tends to provide an exerciser base to mitigate or obviate the aforementioned problems.
- The main objective of the invention is to provide a base for an exerciser to keep the exerciser from moving relative to the ground while in use. The base has a frame and at least one cap. Each cap is attached to the frame and has a resilient sucker disk mounted on the bottom of the cap to provide suction with the ground. This can avoid the exerciser to move or wobble relative to the ground and so the safety of using the exerciser can be improved over the prior art.
- Other objects, advantages and novel features of the invention will become more apparent from the following detailed description when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.
- FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a first embodiment of an exerciser with a base in accordance with the present invention;
- FIG. 2 is an exploded perspective view of the base in FIG. 1;
- FIG. 3 is a cross sectional side plan view of the cap in FIG. 1;
- FIG. 4 is a perspective view of a second embodiment of an exerciser with a base in accordance with the present invention;
- FIG. 5 is a perspective of an exerciser with a conventional base in accordance with the prior art;
- FIG. 6 is a cross sectional plan view of a first embodiment of the lateral rod with the cap in FIG. 5;
- FIG. 7 is a cross sectional plan view of a second embodiment of the lateral rod with the cap in FIG. 5;
- FIG. 8 is a cross sectional plan view of a third embodiment of the lateral rod with the cap in FIG. 5; and
- FIG. 9 is a cross sectional plan view of a fourth embodiment of the lateral rod with the cap in FIG. 5.
- With reference to FIGS. 1 and 2, a base (10) for an exerciser in accordance with the present invention comprises a frame and at least one cap (20). The frame is used to support the exercising device of the exerciser. For example, a stepping device as shown in FIG. 1 is mounted on the frame to construct a stepping exerciser, or a riding device as shown in FIG. 4 is mounted the frame to construct a riding exerciser. The frame has two lateral rods (11) respectively arranged on two ends of the frame. One cap (20) is attached to each respective receiving end of each of the lateral rods (11). With reference to FIGS. 2 and 3, each cap (20) has a recess (23) defined in one side of the cap (20) to receive the corresponding end of the lateral rod (11). A resilient sucker disk (22) is formed on the bottom of each respective cap (20). As particularly shown in FIG. 3, a cavity (24) is defined in the bottom of the resilient sucker disk (22), and air will be contained in the cavity when the sucker disk is in a non-compressed status.
- Accordingly, when the user stands on or rides on the exerciser, the resilient disk (22) will be compressed due to the weight of the user and the exercising device. The air contained in the cavity (24) of each cap (20) will be expelled from the cavity (24). The pressure in the cavity (24) will reduce to lower than that of the environment, such that the resilient disk (22) will be securely sucked to the floor. Thus, the exerciser will be secured to the floor and will not wobble or move relative to the ground when the exerciser is in operation. Of course, when it is necessary to store the exerciser a thin implement can be inserted between the floor and the periphery of each disk to release the suction effect. The safety of using the exerciser is improved over the prior art.
- Even though numerous characteristics and advantages of the present invention have been set forth in the foregoing description, together with details of the structure and function of the invention, the disclosure is illustrative only, and changes may be made in detail, especially in matters of shape, size, and arrangement of parts within the principles of the invention to the full extent indicated by the broad general meaning of the terms in which the appended claims are expressed.
