Abstract

A corner-protecting strip is formed of a first layer and a second layer made integrally with the first layer. The first layer has a hollow interior which is provided in the upper inner wall thereof with a plurality of projections of a length and extending toward the lower inner wall of the hollow interior. The second layer is fastened to the corner surface of an article. The first layer provides the corner surface of the article with a protection against impact.

Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of the Invention [0001]
  • The present invention relates generally to an accessory of a luggage and the like, and more particularly to a border-protecting strip of the luggage. [0002]
  • 2. Description of Related Art [0003]
  • As shown in FIGS. [0004] 1-4, a luggage “A” is provided with a border-protecting strip 10 of the prior art to give the luggage “A” an added protection against impact. The prior art border-protecting strip 10 has a corrugated upper surface which is provided with a plurality of parallel grooves 11 and ridges 12. In other words, the upper surface of the prior art border-protecting strip 10 is corrugated so as to be resilient.
  • Such a prior art border-protecting [0005] strip 10 as described above is defective in design in that the prior art strip 10 is vulnerable to being torn by a foreign object “B” which happens to collide with the prior art strip 10, as illustrated in FIGS. 3 and 4. When a sharp edge of the foreign object “B” hits the prior art strip 10, the sharp edge of the foreign object “B” is apt to slide into the groove 11 of the strip 10, thereby resulting in a split in the outer wall 13 of the strip 10. In addition, the corrugated upper surface of the prior art strip 10 is monotonous in design.
  • BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The primary objective of the present invention is to provide border-protecting strip which is resistant to impact. [0006]
  • It is another objective of the present invention to provided a border-protecting strip which is so patterned as to give it an added market value. [0007]
  • In keeping with the principle of the present invention, the foregoing objectives of the present invention are attained by a border-protecting strip comprising a first layer and a second layer. The first layer has a hollow interior which is provided in the upper inner wall with a plurality of projections. The projections are arranged at intervals so as to make the first layer resilient. The first layer is provided with a grainy or knurled outer surface. The second layer is serrated to facilitate the attaching of the border-protecting strip to the corner surface of an article, such as luggage. [0008]
  • The features and the advantages of the present invention will be more readily understood upon a thoughtful deliberation of the following detailed description of the present invention with reference to the accompanying drawings.[0009]
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWINGS
  • FIG. 1 shows a schematic view of a prior art corner-protecting strip which is attached to the corner of a luggage. [0010]
  • FIG. 2 shows a schematic perspective view of the prior art comer-protecting strip. [0011]
  • FIG. 3 shows a schematic view of the prior art corner protecting strip being impacted on by a foreign object. [0012]
  • FIG. 4 shows an enlarged view of a portion indicated by a circle “C” as shown in FIG. 3. [0013]
  • FIG. 5 shows a perspective view of the present invention. [0014]
  • FIGS. [0015] 6-8 are schematic views of the patterned outer surface of the first layer of the present invention.
  • FIG. 9 shows another perspective view of the present invention.[0016]
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • As shown in FIGS. [0017] 5-9, a corner-protecting strip 20 embodied in the present invention comprises a first layer 21 and a second layer 210. The first layer 21 is provided with a hollow interior which is provided in the upper inner wall with a plurality of projections 22. The projections 22 are arranged at intervals so as to make the first layer 21 resilient. The first layer 21 is provided with a grainy, knurled, or patterned outer surface 23, as shown in FIGS. 5-8. However, the first layer 21 may be provided with a plain smooth outer surface, a s shown in FIG. 9. The second layer 210 is serrated along a portion of the inner side thereof to facilitate the attaching of the border-protecting strip 20 of the present invention to the comer surface of an article, such as luggage. The second layer 2 10 is made integrally with the first layer 21.
  • The present invention described above is to be regarded in all respects as being merely illustrative and nonrestrictive. Accordingly, the present invention may be embodied in other specific forms without deviating from the spirit thereof. The present invention is therefore to be limited only by the scopes of the following claims. [0018]
