Abstract
A hole-drilling device for a cigar is disclosed. The device comprises a rotating shaft having a screw threaded top portion and a holding section, a tubular cutter having a ring blade at the edge of the top portion and a bottom portion which is threaded, a shaft cover having a cutter opening at the top portion and a plurality of screw threads at the internal wall of the cover, and a screw nut which is screwed to the screw threaded top portion of the rotating shaft. The turning of the rotating shaft cause the ring blade to protrude via the cutter opening of the shaft cover to cut a hole on a cigar.
Description
- (a) Field of the Invention
- The present invention relates to a hole-drilling device for a cigar, and in particular, to a hole-drilling device having a tubular cutter to cut circumferentially a hole at one end of a cigar by rotating a rotating shaft connected to the tubular cutter.
- (b) Description of the Prior Art
- For people smokes cigar, it is a customary practice to cut a small section at one end of the cigar to facilitate lighting of the cigar. Conventionally there is a hole drilling device to cut a hole at the cigar, but this conventional device may sometimes accidentally cut the fingers of children when the children plays with it. The conventional cigar hole-drilling device comprises a body, a tubular cutter, rollers, and a rotating cover, and the tubular cutter provided with a spiral body having a guiding slot allows the rollers to slide within the guiding slot. The rollers are mounted within the mounting hole on the tubular cutter. Therefore, the tubular cutter can be retracted in and ejected out from the body. A peg and a spring are utilized to mount the body and the rotating cover to a cavity slot. However, this conventional structure has drawbacks as follows:
- (1) The mounting of a peg and a spring to the body and the rotating cover is complicated and difficult.
- (2) The structure of the conventional hole-drilling device is too complicated and it is laborious in combination the parts of the structure together.
- (3) As the rollers slide within the guiding slot, the rollers may be derailed, or the rollers may fall off or be dislocated.
- Accordingly, it is an object of the present invention to provide a hole-drilling device for a cigar, which mitigates the above drawbacks.
- The present invention relates to a hole-drilling device for a cigar, and in particular, to a hole-drilling device having a tubular cutter to cut circumferentially a hole at one end of a cigar by rotating a rotating shaft connected to the tubular cutter.
- Accordingly, it is an object of the present invention to provide a hole-drilling device for a cigar comprising a rotating shaft having a holding section at one end and a top portion with a plurality of screw threads on the other end thereof, an oval-shaped rod, a circular stan and an urging stan being joined sequentially from the top portion with screw threads to the holding section; a c-shaped ring being mounted to an engaging slot located on the circular stan; a tubular cutter having a ring blade at the top end thereof and a plurality of screw threads at the bottom end thereof; a shaft cover having a cutter opening allowing the ring blade to be protruded out, and a plurality of screw threads being provided at the internal wall of the shaft cover, and a screw nut being mounted to the screw threads of the top portion of the rotating shaft and the diameter of the ring blade being smaller than the diameter of the cutter opening, thereby the rotating of the rotating shaft causes the ring blade to move upward via the cutter opening of the shaft cover to cut a hole at one end of the cigar.
- Yet another object of the present invention is to provide a hole-drilling device for a cigar, wherein the an engaging groove is provided at the internal wall of the shaft cover at the bottom portion thereof and is corresponding to the c-shaped ring mounted at the rotating shaft.
- The foregoing object and summary provide only a brief introduction to the present invention. To filly appreciate these and other objects of the present invention as well as the invention itself, all of which will become apparent to those skilled in the art, the following detailed description of the invention and the claims should be read in conjunction with the accompanying drawings. Throughout the specification and drawings identical reference numerals refer to identical or similar parts.
- Many other advantages and features of the present invention will become manifest to those versed in the art upon making reference to the detailed description and the accompanying sheets of drawings in which a preferred structural embodiment incorporating the principles of the present invention is shown by way of illustrative example.
- FIG. 1 is a perspective exploded view of a hole-drilling device for a cigar of the present invention.
- FIG. 2 is a perspective view of a hole-drilling device for a cigar of the present invention.
- FIG. 3 is a sectional view of a hole-drilling device for a cigar of the present invention.
- FIG. 4 is a schematic view showing the action of a hole-drilling device for a cigar in accordance with the present invention.
- For the purpose of promoting an understanding of the principles of the invention, reference will now be made to the embodiment illustrated in the drawings. Specific language will be used to describe same. It will, nevertheless, be understood that no limitation of the scope of the invention is thereby intended, alterations and further modifications in the illustrated device, and further applications of the principles of the invention as illustrated herein being contemplated as would normally occur to one skilled in the art to which the invention relates.
- Referring to FIGS.1 to 3, there is shown a hole-drilling device for a cigar comprising a
shaft cover 11, atubular cutter 12, a rotatingshaft 13, a c-shaped ring 14, and ascrew nut 15 for mounting to the rotatingshaft 13 at one end. - The
shaft cover 11 having a cutter opening 11 at the top end is a hollow cylindrical body for the accommodation of thetubular cutter 12 and the rotatingshaft 13. The top section of theshaft cover 11 has a diameter larger than the inner diameter of the cutter opening 111, and the size of thecutter opening 111 allows the top section of thetubular cutter 12 to be protruded beyond thecutter opening 111. A plurality ofscrew threads 112 are provided at the inner wall of theshaft cover 11 and are utilized for the screwing with thescrew threads 121 provided at the external edge of the bottom section of thetubular cutter 12. Anengaging groove 113 is provided along the inner wall edge of theshaft cover 11 for the accommodation of the c-shaped ring 14 provided at the rotatingshaft 13. - The rotating
shaft 13 is engaged within theshaft cover 11. Thetubular cutter 12 has a hollow body and the size thereof allows the mounting of theshaft cover 11 from the bottom section thereof. - A plurality of
screw threads 121 are provided at the external edge of the bottom portion of thetubular cutter 12. Thescrew threads 121 can be engaged with thescrew threads 112, and the top end of thetubular cutter 12 is polished to form a circularsharp blade 122 for cutting a hole at the head portion of acigar 2. The bottom of the middle section of thetubular cutter 12 is an ovalshaped hole 123 allowing the mounting of an oval-shaped rod 131 mounted at the top section of the rotatingshaft 13. By rotating the rotatingshaft 13, the oval-shaped rod 131 rotates thetubular cutter 12 and thescrew threads 121 of thecutter 12 cause thecutter 13 to move upward along thescrew threads 112 of theshaft cover 11. The bottom portion of theshaft cover 11 is provided with the rod-shapedrotating shaft 13, and on the top portion of the rotatingshaft 13, the oval-shaped rod 131 having a plurality ofscrew threads 1311 are provided. Ascrew nut 15 having a screw hole 151 is used to mount to thescrew threads 1311 provided on the rotatingshaft 13. Acircular stand 132 is provided at the middle section of the rotatingshaft 13, and the size of thestand 132 can be inserted within the bottom section of theshaft cover 11. - An
engaging slot 134 is provided at an appropriate position on thestand 132, allowing the engagement with the c-shaped ring 14. When thestand 132 is mounted at the bottom section of theshaft cover 11, the c-shaped ring 14 is engaged with theengaging groove 113 so that therotating shaft 13 is mounted within theshaft cover 11. The bottom section of thestand 132 has a diameter larger than the external diameter of anurging stand 133 located below thestand 132. The bottom section of theurging stand 133 is provided with aholding section 135, facilitating the turning of the rotatingshaft 13. - In accordance with the present invention, when the
rotating shaft 13 rotates, the oval-shaped rod 131 drives thehole 123 of thetubular cutter 12, and thescrew threads 121 at the external edge of the bottom section of thetubular cutter 12 rotates upward along thescrew threads 112 at the inner edge of theshaft cover 11, and thering blade 122 of thetubular cutter 12 is protruded out from thecutter opening 111. Thus, the head of thecigar 2 is cut circumferentially to drill a hole on thecigar 2. If thetubular cutter 12 is to be retracted, therotating shaft 13 rotates in an opposite direction, as shown in FIG. 4. - It will be understood that each of the elements described above, or two or more together may also find a useful application in other types of methods differing from the type described above.
- While certain novel features of this invention have been shown and described and are pointed out in the annexed claim, it is not intended to be limited to the details above, since it will be understood that various omissions, modifications, substitutions and changes in the forms and details of the device illustrated and in its operation can be made by those skilled in the art without departing in any way from the spit of the present invention.
Claims (2)
1. A hole-drilling device for a cigar comprising
(a) a rotating shaft having a holding section at one end and a top portion with a plurality of screw threads on the other end thereof, an oval-shaped rod, a circular stand and an urging stand being joined sequentially from the top portion with screw threads to the holding section;
(b) a c-shaped ring being mounted to an engaging slot located on the circular stand;
(c) a tubular cutter having a ring blade at the top end thereof and a plurality of screw threads at the bottom end thereof;
(d) a shaft cover having a cutter opening allowing the ring blade to be protruded out, and a plurality of screw threads being provided at the internal wall of the shaft cover, and
(e) a screw nut being mounted to the screw threads of the top portion of the rotating shaft and the diameter of the ring blade being smaller than the diameter of the cutter opening, thereby the rotating of the rotating shaft causes the ring blade to move upward via the cutter opening of the shaft cover to cut a hole at one end of the cigar.
2. The hole-drilling device for a cigar of claim 1 , wherein an engaging groove is provided at the internal wall of the shaft cover at the bottom portion thereof and is corresponding to the c-shaped ring mounted at the rotating shaft.
