Abstract
A rail device for engaging with a side of a bed includes a frame which is pressed under the mattress and two connection devices connected to the frame. Two tubes are pivotally connected to the two connection devices and two transverse bars are respectively and pivotally connected between the two tubes and the two connection devices. The frame can be disengaged from the two connection devices and the two transverse bars can be folded at a mediate portion thereof.
Description
- The present invention relates to a rail device which has a frame inserted below the mattress and the bars of the rail device can be folded to be a compact assembly.
- A conventional playpen is used to let a baby sleep or crawl therein so that it has a bottom and four side rails. The side rails are cooperated with fabrics so that the baby can not crawl over the side rails and is safe in the playpen. When the baby grows, the playpen is small for the baby so that the adults could put the baby on a bed and keep an eye on the baby who is vigorous and tries to crawl out from the bed. It is necessary to have a rail device that can be connected to a side of the bed so that the baby cannot crawl out from the bed. However, the conventional rail device involves a complicated structure and a lot of parts. The size of the conventional rail device is so huge that the mother of the baby feels inconvenient to install or removed the rail device from the bed.
- In accordance with one aspect of the present invention, there is provided a rail device which comprises a U-shaped frame having two ends thereof respectively connected to two respective connection devices. Each of the connection devices has a first plate and a second plate between which a first tube is pivotally connected. Each of the first plate and the second plate has a notch defined therein. A first transverse bar is pivotally connected between the two second plates of the two connection devices, and a second transverse bar is pivotally connected between the two first tubes. Each of the first tubes has a first pin extending therethrough and two aligned slots defined through a wall of each of the first tubes. A spring is received in each of the first tubes and a first end of the spring contacts the first pin and a second end of the spring is engaged with a stop member. A second pin extends through the stop member and two ends of the second pin movably extend through the two slots in each of the first tubes. The two ends of the second pin are engaged with the two notches in the first plate and the second plate.
- The primary object of the present invention is to provide a rail device that can be easily folded and is installed with or disengaged from the bed.
- The present invention will become more obvious from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings which show, for purposes of illustration only, a preferred embodiment in accordance with the present invention.
- FIG. 1 is a perspective view to show the rail device of the present invention.
- FIG. 2 is an exploded view to show a first tube and a connection device of the rail device of the present invention.
- FIG. 3 is a cross sectional view to show the connection of the first tube and the connection device of the rail device of the present invention.
- FIG. 4 is a side view to show the first tube is pivoted relative to the connection device of the rail device of the present invention.
- FIG. 5 is an exploded view to show a connector and two tubes composed of the second transverse bar of the rail device of the present invention.
- FIG. 6 is an exploded view to show the rail device is folded and the frame is separated into sections.
- Referring to FIGS.1 to 3, the rail device of the present invention comprises a
U-shaped frame 12 having two ends thereof respectively connected to tworespective connection devices 1, and theframe 12 is inserted beneath themattress 2 as shown in FIG. 1. Theframe 12 is composed of four sections which are convenient to be stored as shown in FIG. 6. Each of theconnection devices 1 has afirst plate 111 and asecond plate 1112 between which afirst tube 130 is pivotally connected by inserting apin 15 throughholes 115 in thefirst plate 111 and thesecond plate 1112, and ahole 133 in thefirst tube 130. Each of thefirst plate 111 and thesecond plate 1112 having anotch 1110/11120 defined therein. Each of thesecond plates 1112 has asupport port 11121 extending therefrom and a firsttransverse bar 12A is pivotally connected between the twosupport ports 11121 on the twosecond plates 1112. The firsttransverse bar 12A is connected to the tworespective support ports 11121 by a resilient pin 12A1 so that when pushing the resilient pins 12A1 inward, the firsttransverse bar 12A can be disengaged from the tworespective support ports 11121. - Each of the
first tubes 130 has afirst pin 132 extending therethrough and two alignedslots 131 are defined through the wall of each of thefirst tubes 130. Aspring 114 is received in each of thefirst tubes 130 and a first end of thespring 114 contacts thefirst pin 312 and a second end of thespring 114 is engaged with astop member 112 received in thefirst tube 130. Asecond pin 113 extends through apassage 1121 of thestop member 112 and two ends of thesecond pin 113 movably extend through the twoslots 131 in each of thefirst tubes 130. The two ends of thesecond pin 113 are engaged with the twonotches first plate 111 and thesecond plate 1112 so that thefirst tubes 130 are positioned vertical to theframe 12. Twoknobs 1131 are connected to the two ends of thesecond pin 113 so that the user may hold theknobs 1131 to lift thestop member 112 and thesecond pin 113 is removed from thenotches first tubes 130 can be folded away theframe 12 as shown in FIG. 4 and this status is convenient for the adult to hold the baby. - A second
transverse bar 13 composed of twosecond tubes 134 is pivotally connected between the twofirst tubes 130. The twosecond tubes 134 are connected to the two respectivefirst tubes 130 by twopivotable joints 135. Two respective first ends of the twosecond tubes 134 are respectively connected to the twopivotable joints 135 and two respective second ends of the twosecond tubes 134 are pivotally connected to aconnector 31 as shown in FIG. 5 by inserting apin 312 throughholes 311 in theconnector 31 andholes 1340 in thesecond tubes 134. Theconnector 31 has anaperture 310 and atop member 32 is mounted to theconnector 31. Thetop member 32 has apush plate 321 pivotally extending therefrom which is located in alignment with theaperture 310. Two V-shaped biasing members 33 are respectively received in the two respective second ends of the twosecond tubes 134. Each of thebiasing members 33 has an end extending from the second end of each of thesecond tubes 134 and can be pushed inward by thepush plate 321 via theaperture 310. Each of thebiasing members 33 has aposition pin 331 which is movably inserted through ahole 1340 in each of the twosecond tubes 134. When the end of thebiasing member 33 is pushed inward by thepush plate 321, the twosecond tubes 134 can be pivotedrelative connector 31 and folded to be a compact status as shown in FIG. 6. - While we have shown and described the embodiment in accordance with the present invention, it should be clear to those skilled in the art that further embodiments may be made without departing from the scope of the present invention.
