Description
- 1. Field of the Invention
- The present invention relates generally to staff type golf bags that are capable of being easily, inexpensively and effectively manufactured.
- More particularly, the present invention relates to a staff type golf bag, in which its skin assembly is integrated with its reinforcing plate, the skin assembly being comprised of a skin body provided with a pocket, a top band arranged on the upper portion of the skin body and a bottom strip arranged on the lower portion of the skin body, the skin assembly being laid on and fixedly attached to the reinforcing plate, the reinforcing plate forming a cylindrical shape with both side ends of the reinforcing plate connected to each other by connection means, thereby allowing the staff type golf bag to be easily, inexpensively and effectively manufactured.
- 2. Description of the Prior Art
- Generally used golf bags can be divided into a variety of types according to materials, sizes, shapes, etc.
- Golf bags are each fabricated by cutting component parts on a horizontal plane and sewing them together, thus forming a three-dimensional golf bag of a certain volume. The fabricating methods are distinguished from each other by the techniques for dealing with the connected portions of the bag body. In particular, the golf bags may be divided into the following two types according to their fabrication methods.
- First, there is a stay type golf bag, which is fabricated of fabric sheets relatively thin and easily turned inside out, which has a simple shape, and which is provided with relatively small-sized pockets. In the manufacture of the stay type golf bag, all the parts, including pockets, are sewn together into a bag body on a horizontal plane (see FIG. 1a), both side ends of the bag body are sewn together to allow the pockets to be situated on the inner surface of the bag body 10 (see FIG. 1b), and the
cylindrical bag body 10 is turned inside out so as to allow connected portions to be situated on the outer surface of thebag body 10, and the pockets to be situated on the inner surface of the bag body (see FIG. 1c). However, the stay type golf bag is restricted to material that is capable of being turned inside out after pre-working is carried out, and requires reinforcing material, such as a plurality of support wires W, to be inserted into thebag body 10. - Second, there is a staff type golf bag, which is provided with relatively large-sized pockets, has a relatively large size, is fabricated of relatively thick vinyl or polyurethane, and allows a reinforcing plate to be situated inside of its skin assembly. The staff type golf bag is fabricated by separately manufacturing a
skin body 10, atop band 11, abottom strip 12 and abottom support 13 and integrating them together, so a large number of component parts are required to fabricate the golf bag, thus causing the fabrication of the golf bag to be difficult and time-consuming. In the fabrication of the staff type golf bag, theskin body 10 is cylindrically formed by attaching aslide fastener 10 b on arear pocket 10 a and fastening it, the reinforcingcylinder 14 rolled in the form of a cylinder is situated inside of theskin body 10, the reinforcingcylinder 14 is secured to theskin body 10, thetop band 11 is fixedly attached to the upper portion of theskin body 10, and thebottom strip 12 and thebottom support 13 are fixedly attached to the lower portion of theskin body 10. Accordingly, the various component parts are difficult to assemble, the attachment of thetop band 11 and thebottom strip 12 to thecylindrical skin body 10 requires special instruments and high level skill, and the manufacture of the golf bag further necessitates a large working area and a great amount of time. Additionally, when the reinforcingcylinder 14 is positioned inside of thecylindrical skin body 10, the connected portions 14 b of the reinforcingcylinder 14 should be situated at a position where agrip 15 is riveted, the positioning of the reinforcingcylinder 14 is difficult and inconvenient. Furthermore, the staff type golf bag is fabricated by converting flat parts into three-dimensionally shaped parts, so the manufacture should be performed by skilled workers, defective products may be easily fabricated, and special instruments have to be employed to manufacture the golf bag. Particularly, thegrip 15 should be attached to thecylindrical skin body 10 and the reinforcingcylinder 14 by rivets, so a special riveting apparatus is employed to manufacture the golf bag. - In particular, the
top band 11 includes a reinforcingband 11 a positioned inside of aband skin 11 b, the lower portion of the reinforcingband 11 a is arranged to come into contact with theupper portion 14 a of the reinforcingcylinder 14, and thetop band 11 is fixedly attached to theskin body 10 with thetop band 11 sewn on theskin body 10 at their contacted portions. The side ends of thetop band 11 are situated in the front of the golf bag and covered with apatch 16, and the side ends of theskin body 10 are connected at itsrear pocket 10 a by theslide fastener 10 b. Accordingly, the side ends of thetop band 11 and the side ends of theskin body 10 do not coincide and are situated in different directions, so thetop band 11 and theskin body 10 have to be manufactured separately. - The conventional staff type golf bag should be fabricated by integrating together the separately manufactured
skin body 10,top band 11,bottom strip 12,bottom support 13 and reinforcingcylinder 14. Therefore, the staff type golf bag is problematic in that a considerable loss of material occurs in the process of cutting and sewing raw material, a large amount of time and manpower, a skilled worker and an expensive special instrument are required to assemble its component parts, defective products are easily produced, and the detection of the defect of thegrip 15 is difficult. - Accordingly, the present invention has been made keeping in mind the above problems occurring in the prior art, and an object of the present invention is to provide a staff type golf bag, which is capable of being easily fabricated, thereby allowing the staff type golf bag to be easily, inexpensively and effectively manufactured.
- In order to accomplish the above object, the present invention provides a staff type golf bag, in which a skin assembly is integrated with a reinforcing plate, the skin assembly is comprised of a skin body provided with a pocket and a top band and a bottom strip arranged on the upper portion of the skin body strip arranged on the lower portion of the skin body, the skin assembly is laid on and fixedly attached to the reinforcing plate, and the reinforcing plate forms a cylindrical shape with both side ends of the reinforcing plate connected to each other by connection means, thereby allowing the staff golf bag to be easily, inexpensively and effectively manufactured.
- The above and other objects, features and other advantages of the present invention will be more clearly understood from the following detailed description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, in which:

- Reference now should be made to the drawings, in which the same reference numerals are used throughout the different drawings to designate the same or similar components.
- As illustrated in FIG. 4, the present invention provides a staff type golf bag Al. The staff type golf bag Al includes a
bag body 70 formed in the shape of a hollow cylinder. Thebag body 70 includes askin assembly 50, which is comprised of askin body 20 provided with a pocket, atop band 30 arranged on the upper portion of theskin body 30, and abottom strip 40 arranged on the lower portion of theskin body 30. Thebag body 70 further includes a reinforcingplate 60 that has a size corresponding to the size of the skin assembly. The reinforcingplate 60 is fixedly attached to the rear surface of theskin assembly 50. Abottom support 80 is fixedly attached under thebottom strip 40 to the bottom portion of thebag body 70. Atop mold 90 is fixedly attached under thetop band 30 to the top portion of thebag body 70 by a bolt. - In this embodiment, connection means61 is attached to both ends of the
reinforcing plate 60 of thebag body 70. The reinforcingplate 60 is connected at its both ends by the function of the connecting means 61 to form a cylindrical body. - A
grip 51 arranged on the vertical line of the central portion of theskin assembly 50 is riveted to the reinforcingplate 60, so thegrip 51 can be easily attached to the reinforcingplate 60, and theskin assembly 50 and the reinforcingplate 60 are preliminarily attached to each other. - In this embodiment, a slide fastener is employed as the connection means61 that is attached to both ends of the reinforcing
plate 60. However, instead of the slide fastener, a Velcro faster or staples can be used to connect both ends of the reinforcingplate 60, or both ends of thebag body 70 can be sewn into a cylindrical body. - A
slide fastener 22 is attached to therear pocket 21 to selectively open or close therear pocket 21 orskin assembly 50. - The upper end of the
rear pocket 21 of theskin body 20 is situated under and sewn with thetop band 30, while the lower end of therear pocket 21 of theskin body 20 is situated under and sewn with thebottom strip 40. - In the staff type golf bag Al of the present invention, the
skin assembly 50 is integrated with the reinforcingplate 60 while theskin assembly 50 is laid on the reinforcingplate 60, thus forming the plate-shapedbag body 70. As a result, all the parts including thegrip 51, which are required to be riveted, can be riveted to the reinforcingplate 60 while being laid on theskin assembly 50, thereby allowing the parts to be easily riveted to the reinforcingplate 60, that is, allowing the golf bag of the present invention to be easily manufactured. In this state, when theslide fastener 61 attached to both side ends of the reinforcingplate 60 is fastened, thebag body 70 has a cylindrical shape. Theupper end 211 a of thecover plate 211 of therear pocket 21 of theskin body 20 is situated under and sewn with thetop band 30, while the lower end 211 b of thecover plate 211 of therear pocket 21 of theskin body 20 is situated under and sewn with thebottom strip 40. The sidewall of thebottom support 80 is situated under thebottom strip 40, and sewn on or bolted to theskin assembly 50. Themold top 90 is situated under thetop band 30, and bolted to theskin assembly 50. Afinish patch 33 is positioned to cover the side ends of thetop band 30 in order to prevent the side ends from being exposed to the outside. - FIGS. 5a and 5 b are views showing a staff type golf bag A2 in accordance with a second embodiment of the present invention. A plurality of
corrugations 62 are formed on one side or both sides of a reinforcingplate 60. The corrugated reinforcingplate 60 can be made to be thinner than a flat reinforcing plate, so the corrugated reinforcingplate 60 allows the golf bag to be lightweight. When the corrugated reinforcingplate 60 is shaped in the form of a cylindrical body, thecorrugations 62 can be retracted, thereby allowing theskin assembly 50 and the reinforcingplate 60 to be concentric while forming cylindrical bodies. - As described above, the present invention provides a staff type golf bag, in which a skin assembly is integrated with a reinforcing plate, the skin assembly being comprised of a skin body provided with a pocket, a top band arranged on the upper portion of the skin body and a bottom strip arranged on the lower portion of the skin body, the skin assembly being laid on and fixedly attached to the reinforcing plate, and the reinforcing plate forming a cylindrical shape with both side ends of the reinforcing plate connected to each other by connection means, thereby allowing the staff type golf bag to be easily, inexpensively and effectively manufactured. As a result, the staff type golf bag of the present invention can be easily manufactured, so a large number of golf bags can be rapidly manufactured owing to the effectiveness and simplicity of the manufacturing process of the golf bag, the manufacturing costs of a golf bag are reduced due to a reduction in manpower, the costs of raw materials can be saved owing to the reduction of cutting and sewing processes, expensive special instruments are not necessary due to the easy manufacture of the golf bag, and labor costs can be reduced owing to the reduction of dependency on skilled workers.
