Description
- This invention relates to disposable garments.
- This invention pertains to disposable garments for use by children or adults.
- Disposable garments are known in the prior art and are used in cases where, as a matter of cleanliness or convenience, ordinary clothing is not available. The garments of the prior art, however, have not been designed in a way to be readily adapted to comfortably and securely fit bodies of varying sizes.
- The present invention overcomes these drawbacks by providing for a disposable garment which can be easily fitted to bodies of various sizes to provide a comfortable and aesthetically pleasing fit for the wearer.
- It is an object of the invention to overcome the disadvantages of the prior art by providing a disposable garment comprising a top section with a neck opening, sleeves and a body portion and a bottom section with a waist opening, pant legs and a waist fastener, the waist fastener affixed to the bottom section at or near the waist opening.
- In accordance with a further aspect of the invention, the waist fastener is selected from the group comprising an adhesive strip or Velcro which is affixed to the bottom section on opposite sides of the bottom section.
- In accordance with a further aspect of the invention, the invention further comprises an elastic portion located at or near an end of each sleeve or pant leg, the elastic portion thereby allowing for customisation of sleeve or pant leg length.
- In drawings which illustrate by way of example only a preferred embodiment of the invention,
- FIG. 1 is a front view of a garment in accordance with an embodiment of the invention on a perforated roll prior to use;
- FIG. 2 is a front view of a garment in accordance with an embodiment of the invention in individually dispensed packaging prior to use;
- FIGS. 3 and 4 are front views of a long-sleeved shirt and pants, respectively, in accordance with an embodiment of the invention;
- FIG. 5 is a front view of a garment in accordance with an embodiment of the invention depicting a long-sleeved shirt/pant combination worn by a child;
- FIG. 6 is a front view of a short-sleeved shirt and short combination in accordance with an embodiment of the invention;
- FIG. 7 is a front view of a garment in accordance with an embodiment of the invention depicting a short-sleeved shirt and short combination worn by a child; and
- FIG. 8 is a side view of a bottom section of a garment in accordance with an embodiment of the invention.
- With reference to the figures, FIG. 1 illustrates a disposable garment2 in accordance with one embodiment of the invention.
- As shown in FIGS.1 to 5, the disposable garment comprises a
top section 4 and a bottom section 6. Thetop section 4 comprises a neck opening 8, twosleeves 10, and abody portion 14. The bottom section 6 comprises a waist opening 16, twopant legs 18 and awaist fastener 20. Thetop section 4 and bottom section 6 are joined along a line ofperforations 22. - The neck opening8 in the

Thebody portion 14 opens to admit a torso of the wearer. - The bottom section6 forms the pants or shorts. The waist opening 16 admits the wearer's legs and mid-section. The
waist fastener 20 is comprised of two sections of material such as an adhesive or Velcro and is preferably affixed to the bottom section 6 near the waist opening 16 on either side of the bottom section 6.Cuffs 30 on thepant legs 18 are reinforced with anelastic portion 32 to customize the length of the pant leg to avoid the dragging of the pants below the shoe line. - The garment is preferably made from a 3 ply-material comprising a first, upper layer of a soft, absorbent cotton-like material, a second, middle layer of liquid repellent material for protection from spilled liquids and foods and a third, bottom layer of a soft, absorbent cotton-like material.
- The disposable garment2 may be dispensed from a roll or pad of joined disposable clothing, each top section and bottom section capable of being torn away from each other along a perforated edge, as shown in FIG. 1. Alternatively, individual shirts or pants may be stacked on each other in a box or package and may be dispensed in a manner similar to paper tissues as shown in FIG. 2. Thus, the invention provides an inexpensive and hygienic disposable outfit. To use the disposable garment, a user tears along the line of
perforations 22 so as to liberate thetop section 4 from the bottom section 6. - FIGS. 6 and 7 illustrate a further embodiment of the invention illustrating a short pant and a short sleeve shirt for use in warmer temperatures. Various other styles (skirt, jumper, pleated pants, etc.) and modifications of the described embodiment fall within the scope of this invention. Whilst disposable clothing embodying this invention has been exemplified as worn by a child, this invention can be applied to adults and can be designed and sized accordingly.
