Abstract

A dispensing hair brush that has a hollow head 10 that may be separated from a handle 12 for the purpose of both components being filled with a hair product. This hair product may then be dispensed via the brush and its bristles. Within this handle there is a screw mechanism with an attached plunger that slides along the axis in both a forward and backward direction thereby allowing hair product to be inserted and dispensed.

Description

    CROSS REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS
  • This application has also been submitted in the United Kingdom under application number GB 0100127.0 and was filed on the Jan. 4, 2001. This is due to be published on the of May 28, 2002 which allows it to be a priority document or claim in this instance, that is, applying for a patent in the U.S. before the Jan. 4, 2002.[0001]
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • Hairbrushes are well known hair grooming devices that are used by people or on animals. Hairbrushes however do not historically have the capability of assisting the user in applying any hair products to the hair or scalp. In the main, this is generally done by using a persons hands and this results in a more messy and uneven distributed application to the hair. [0002]
  • BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • According to the present invention, a hand-held, hollow plastic hairbrush is provided with hollow plastic bristles and holes or ducts in the head of the brush. The handle of the brush is a hollow chamber with an internal screw mechanism that, upon a knob being turned in a clockwise direction at its base, has an internal plug or plunger that moves towards the brush's head. This sliding action of the plug or plunger along the axis of the screw allows the hair product to be pushed forward toward the head of the brush thereby dispensing it via the bristle openings and holes found between the bristles. This brush may be disposable after the hair product is finished or it can be re-filled by unscrewing the handle at the neck and filling the handle and the head's now empty chamber.[0003]
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWING
  • A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of examples with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: [0004]
  • FIG. 1 shows in perspective the hairbrush from a side-view of the knob at its base, the neck and the screw on head of the brush with its dispensing bristles and openings between the bristles. [0005]
  • FIG. 2 shows the two separate and unscrewed components of the brush. That it, the head and the handle. [0006]
  • FIG. 3 shows the lateral cross-sectional view of the brush thereby illustrating the internal screw mechanism, the chamber of the head and handle for storing hair product, and the plunger for pushing the hair product out of the chambers and onto the scalp or hair. [0007]
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • Referring to FIG. 1, the hairbrush comprises a [0008] hollow head 10 and a screw-on or releasable handle 12. The Neck 11 is also shown as the point where the handle connects to the head. The Turning Knob 13 is also indicated. The openings or dispensing ducts on the head of the brush between the bristles are shown as 14. The hollow bristles with openings for dispensing the hair product are shown as 15.
  • Referring to FIG. 2, we notice that in order to remove the [0009] handle 12 and fill it with hair product it is unscrewed at the female neck 11 in an anti-clockwise direction. Once these components are separated, the hair product is inserted into the hollow chamber 18 and re-screwed onto the head at the female neck 11.
  • Referring to FIG. 3, we take the lateral cross-sectional view of the brush, we identify the [0010] internal screw mechanism 16 that has a plug or plunger 17 that moves along its axis. The plunger moves forward when the knob 13 is turned in a clockwise direction and backwards when it is turned in an anti-clockwise direction. The hairbrush may be supplied full of hair product in which case the plunger is retracted and the chambers in the handle 12 and the head 10 are full. On turning the knob 13 in a clockwise direction, the plunger moves forward in a manner that allows for the product to be dispensed via the bristles 15 and the holes or ducts 14.
  • When empty the plunger is retracted by turning the [0011] knob 13 in an anti-clockwise direction thereby creating empty space within the chamber of the handle 18 and the head 19. By unscrewing the handle, it may be re-filled with new product.

Claims (5)

1. A brush that comprises a hollow head and handle in which hair product may be inserted. An internal screw mechanism and plunger allows for product to be dispensed via bristles and holes found in its head. This is achieved by turning the knob at the base of the handle.
2. A brush as claimed in 1 that has a screwable male handle that connects to the base of the female head at the neck.
3. A brush as claimed in claim 1 and claim 2 that has an internal screw mechanism and plunger that moves along an axis in a sliding motion thereby dispensing a hair product.
4. A brush as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2 or claim 3 wherein the purpose is to allow for the easy application of hair products in a clean and evenly distributed manner.
5. A brush as substantially described herein with reference to FIGS. 1-3 of the accompanying drawings.
