Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • Invention pertains directly to the care of infants, especially those suffering from colic. [0001]
  • The white noise playing doll is designed to not only help providing diversion to a colicky baby, but it also provides an aesthetically pleasing appearance to an infant. [0002]
  • The white noise playing doll has a body, two arms, two legs, and a headpiece, and is made of a soft cloth which is machine washable. It is comprised of a pair of coloured lips, a pair of pants, a pair of black and white eyes, a pair of suspenders and a heart shape made on each hand (see FIG. 1A). [0003]
  • The white noise playing doll consists of a loop tape recording device which plays a white noise sound, such as the one made by a household vacuum cleaner The tape recording is inserted in a pouch into the back of the doll (See FIG. 1B) [0004]
  • Once a colicky baby shows signs of beginning a colic episode, the white noise playing doll is turned on and placed near the child. For a colicky baby, the presence of such white noise seems to calm them, possibly putting them to sleep. [0005]
  • Once the infant is sound asleep, the doll can then be turned off. [0006]
  • BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • A white noise playing doll is a device used in order to aid parents of colicky babies in assisting with bouts of colic. The doll plays a white noise which diverts infant's attention off his/her pain and focuses it onto the noise or the doll. [0007]
  • One aspect of the invention includes a doll for use with a colicky baby comprising of a doll having a pouch and a white noise playing device inserted in the pouch, whereby the sound associated with the doll provides diversion to the colicky baby. [0008]
  • Another aspect of the invention includes a doll playing a loop tape recording device. [0009]
  • Another aspect of the invention includes using a doll having a white noise playing device and placing the doll with the colicky baby and playing the device. [0010]
  • Another aspect of the invention includes using a doll for a colicky baby's recreation.[0011]

  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION
  • With reference to the drawings, the white noise playing doll is made from a soft cloth that is machine washable, with two hands, two legs and a headpiece. The doll comprises a pair of black and white eyes, a pair of colored lips, a heart shape made on each hand, a pair of suspenders, and a pair of pants. [0014]
  • The doll should be machine washable, with no small parts that can be removed and/or swallowed by a young child. [0015]
  • The recording device should be looped so that it can play continuously until doll is turned off. A volume control should be added in order to maximize effect of white noise. [0016]
  • The doll should be small enough so that it travels easily from crib to car seat to playpen. [0017]
  • Although the invention has been described in connection with a preferred embodiment, it should be understood that various modifications, additions and alterations may be made to the invention by one skilled in the art without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as defined in the appended claims. Claims (8)

1. A white noise playing doll for use with a colicky baby comprising:
a doll having a pouch;
a white noise playing device inserted into the pouch, whereby the sound associated with the doll provides a diversion to a colicky baby.
2. The doll according to claim 1, wherein said noise playing device includes a loop tape recording device.
3. The doll according to claims 1 or 2, wherein said white noise consists of the noise of a vacuum cleaner.
4. The doll according to any one of claims 1 to 3, wherein the pouch is a built-in pocket at the back of the doll.
5. The doll according to any one of claims 1 to 4, wherein the doll comprises:
a soft cloth body with two hands, two legs, and a headpiece;
a pair of colored lips;
a pair of pants;
a pair of black and white eyes;
a pair of suspenders;
a heart shape made on each hand.
6. The doll according to any one of claims 1 to 5, wherein the said playing device has a volume control and an on/off switch.
7. A method of using a doll having a white noise playing device defined in any one of claims 1 to 6, placing the doll with a colicky baby, and playing the device.
8. The method of using the doll according to claim 7, wherein the said doll is used for a colicky baby's diversion.
