Abstract
The present invention provides for a beverage container holder which is small and flexible and, thus, easily stored. The holder is comprised of a support member having first and second loops, an adjustment means for attaching a beverage container to the first loop of the support member and a clip attached to the second loop of the support member for removably securing the holder to a user's clothes or accessories. In use, the first loop of the support member is placed around the top of a drink container, such as a water bottle or a 20 oz. beverage container, the adjustment means is used to secure the first loop to the top of the beverage container and the clip is removably attached to the user. The clip can either be attached to the user's clothing or it may be attached to an accessory, such as a purse or a backpack.
Description
- I. Field of the Invention
- This application claims priority from a provisional patent application filed on Sep. 11, 2000, having serial No. 60/231,807. The present invention relates to beverage container holders and more particularly to a beverage container holding having a clip which can be easily attached to a user's clothing or accessories.
- II. Description of the Related Art
- The present invention contemplates a new and improved beverage container holder which is simple in design, effective in use, and overcomes the foregoing difficulties and others while providing better and more advantageous overall results.
- It is well known in the art to provide beverage container holders that can be attached to a user's clothing so that the user's hand may be kept free for other tasks. These holders have proven adequate for their intended purpose. However, the holders are also known to be large and bulky which makes them cumbersome to use. Moreover, because of their large size, a user cannot easily store the holder when it is not in use.
- The present invention attempts to overcome these deficiencies in the prior art by providing for a beverage container holder that is small and flexible and, thus, can be easily stored. The beverage container is comprised of a support member having first and second loops, an adjustment means for securing a beverage container to the first loop of the support member and a clip attached to the second loop of the support member for removably securing the holder to a user.
- In accordance with the present invention, a new and improved beverage container holder is provided which is small and flexible and, thus, easily stored.
- It is a further objective of this invention to provide a beverage container that can be easily attached to a user's clothing or accessories.
- It is still a further objective of this invention to provide a beverage container that is adapted to support several different types of beverage containers
- It is still a further objective of this invention to provide a beverage container holder that is easily and efficiently manufactured and marketed.
- It is still a further objective of this invention to provide a beverage container holder that is of durable and reliable construction.
- It is still a further objective of this invention to provide a beverage container holder that has all of the advantages of the prior art holders and none of the disadvantages.
- Yet, another object of the present invention is to provide a holder, comprising:
- a support member;
- a clip operatively connected to said support member, said clip adapted to be removably attached to an associated object; and,
- adjustment means selectively movable along said support member.
- Another object of the present invention is to provide a holder, wherein the associated object may include, without limitation, a person's clothing or an accessory.
- To accomplish these objectives, the present invention provides for a beverage container holder comprised of a support member having first and second loops, an adjustment means for securing a beverage container to the first loop of the support member and a clip attached to the second loop of the support member for removably securing the holder to the user. In use, the first loop of the support member is placed around the top of a drink container, such as a water bottle or a 20 oz. beverage container. The adjustment means is then selectively moved along the support member to reduce the circumference of the first loop and, thereby, secure the beverage container to the support member. After the support member is secured to the beverage container, the clip is used to attach the beverage container holder to either the user's clothes or accessories.
- Still other benefits and advantages of the invention will become apparent to those skilled in the art upon a reading and understanding of the following detailed specification.
- The invention may take physical form in certain parts and arrangement of parts. A preferred embodiment of these parts will be described in detail in the specification and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this disclosure and wherein:
- FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the beverage container holder.
- FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the adjustment means.
- FIG. 3 is a perspective view of the clip.
- FIG. 4 is a perspective view of the beverage container holder wherein the beverage container holder is supporting a beverage container.
- FIG. 5 is a perspective view of the beverage container holder wherein the beverage container holder is attached to a pair of trousers.
- FIG. 6 is a front perspective view of another embodiment of the present invention.
- FIG. 7 is a front perspective view of another embodiment of the present invention.
- FIG. 8 is a side view of the present invention shown in FIG. 7.
- Referring now to the drawings, which are for purposes of illustrating a preferred embodiment of the invention only, and not for purposes of limiting the invention, FIG. 1 shows one embodiment of the invention wherein the
beverage container holder 10 is not in use, FIG. 2 shows one embodiment of the adjustment means 16, FIG. 3 shows one embodiment of theclip 12 and FIGS. 4 and 5 show one embodiment of the invention wherein thebeverage container holder 10 is attached to abeverage container 20. - With reference to FIG. 1, one embodiment of the
bottle container holder 10 is illustrated. Thebottle container holder 10 includes asupport member 14 having first andsecond loops support member 14 for securing a thefirst loop 18 of thesupport member 14 to abeverage container 20 and aclip 12 attached to thesecond loop 22 of thesupport member 14 for removably securing theholder 10 to the user. - The
support member 14 may be comprised of a single piece of material, such as a rope or a nylon cord, having first and second ends. The first and second ends of the material are attached to each other to form a circular shape. In the preferred embodiment, the material has a length of about 10.5 inches and a diameter of about 0.2 inches. However, the material may have any dimension, so long as the material adequately secures thebeverage container 20 to the user. - The adjustment means16 attaches to the
support member 14 and forms the first andsecond loops support member 14 and that attaches thesupport member 14 to thebeverage container 20 may be used. - In one embodiment, a
clip 12 may be used to secure thesupport member 14 to a user's clothes or accessories, as is best shown in FIG. 3. However, any attachment means that removably secures the support member to the user is within the scope of this invention. - In operation, this embodiment allows the beverage container holder to be easily attached to both the beverage container and the user.
- With reference to FIGS. 4 and 5, the holder is shown in use. The top of the
beverage container 20 is positioned within thefirst loop 18 of thesupport member 14. The adjustment means 16 is then selectively moved along thesupport member 14 to reduce the circumference of thefirst loop 18 and, thereby, secure thebeverage container 20 to thesupport member 14. After thesupport member 14 is secured to thebeverage container 20, theclip 12 is used to removably attach thebeverage container holder 10 to either the user's clothes, such as abelt loop 24 as shown in FIG. 5, or accessories (not shown). - The invention has been described with reference to the preferred embodiment. Obviously, modifications and alterations will occur to others upon a reading and understanding of the specification. It is intended by applicant to include all such modifications and alterations insofar as they come within the scope of the appended claims or the equivalents thereof.
- Having thus described the invention, it is now claimed:
