Abstract
A hook device for curtain is provided. The device has a plurality of hooks each comprises one pointed end inserted into a draw drapery for securing thereto, a first hook end inserted into and for hanging on one of a plurality of carriers slidingly received in a track, and a second hook end inserted into and for hanging on a shade cloth. This enables to wash or replace draw drapery and shade cloth individually. Further, shade cloth may be removed if desired.
Description
- The present invention relates to curtains and more particularly to a hook device for curtain with improved characteristics.
- A conventional curtain assembly is shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 comprising a
draw drapery 1 formed of transparent soft fabric, ashade cloth 2 formed of relatively hard opaque plastic material being stitched to outer upper side ofdraw drapery 1, a plurality oflongitudinal pleats 3 equally spaced apart ondraw drapery 1, a plurality ofhooks 5 each having one pointedend 4 inserted into outer side of thecorresponding pleat 3 for securing thereto, a plurality ofcarriers 7 each having ahole 8 with the other end ofhook 5 inserted into (i.e., hanging), and atrack 6 for slidingly receivingcarriers 7. Hence, drawdrapery 1 together withshade cloth 2 are capable of being pulled to open or close. - However, the previous design suffered from several disadvantages. For example, draw
drapery 1 and shadecloth 2 formed of different types of material wherein the former is a washable while the later is not. Hence, for cleaning dirt on drawdrapery 1 and/or shadecloth 2 people has to wash them both. As a result, the later is sthroughnk after washed. This may deform curtain. A way to prevent such is to send curtain to a professional laundry for cleaning. But the cost is relatively high. Further, as compared withdraw drapery 1shade cloth 2 tends to oxidize by direct sunshine after a long time of use (i.e., lifetime is shorter). It is typical for people to throw both of them away since they are stitched together when only shadecloth 2 is not usable. Such replacement is not cost effective. Furthermore, there is no way to pull only one of drawdrapery 1 and shade cloth 2 (since they are stitched together) if such is desired. - Thus, it is desirable to provide an improved hook device for curtain in order to overcome the above drawbacks of prior art.
- It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a hook device for curtain having a plurality of hooks each comprising one pointed end inserted into a draw drapery for securing thereto, a first hook end inserted into and for hanging on one of a plurality of carriers slidingly received in a track, and a second hook end inserted into and for hanging on a shade cloth. This has the advantages of washing or replacing draw drapery and shade cloth individually, thus saving cost. Further, shade cloth may be removed if people desires to let sunshine pass through draw drapery.
- The above and other objects, features and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from the following detailed description taken with the accompanying drawings.
- FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a curtain incorporating a conventional hook device;
- FIG. 2 is a cross-sectional view of FIG. 1 showing together hanging draw drapery and shade cloth;
- FIG. 3 is a perspective view of a first preferred embodiment of curtain according to the invention;
- FIG. 4 is a cross-sectional view of FIG. 3 showing individually hanging draw drapery and shade cloth;
- FIG. 5 is a side view of the FIG. 3 hook;
- FIG. 6 is a cross-sectional view taken along line6-6 of FIG. 5;
- FIG. 7 is another side view of the FIG. 3 hook opposite to FIG. 5;
- FIG. 8 is a front plan view of the FIG. 3 hook;
- FIG. 9 is a side view of a second preferred embodiment of curtain according to the invention; and
- FIG. 10 is a front plan view of the FIG. 9 hook.
- Referring to FIGS.3 to 8, there is shown a first preferred embodiment of curtain according to the invention comprising a
draw drapery 10 formed of transparent soft fabric, a plurality oflongitudinal pleats 11 equally spaced apart ondraw drapery 10, a plurality ofhooks 40 formed of steel or plastic material and each having onepointed end 41 inserted into outer side of thecorresponding pleat 11 for securing thereto, ashade cloth 20 formed of relatively hard opaque plastic material and having a plurality of equally spacedapertures 22 on top side with afirst hook end 43 ofhook 40 inserted into for hanging and a plurality ofrivets 21 belowapertures 22 for fasteningshade cloth 20, a plurality ofcarriers 31 each having ahole 32 with asecond hook end 42 ofhook 40 inserted into for hanging, and atrack 6 for slidingly receivingcarriers 31. Note that pointedend 41 ofhook 40 is formed separately prior to welding to the remaining portion ofhook 40. - The advantages of the invention include: People may wash or replace
draw drapery 10 andshade cloth 20 individually, thus saving cost. Further,shade cloth 20 may be removed if people desires to let sunshine pass throughdraw drapery 10. - Referring to FIGS. 9 and 10, there is shown a second preferred embodiment of curtain according to the invention. The difference between first and second embodiments is that hook of the later is formed integrally.
- While the invention has been described by means of specific embodiments, numerous modifications and variations could be made thereto by those skilled in the art without departing from the scope and spirit of the invention set forth in the claims.
