Abstract
A new and improved glove design for a medical glove is disclosed that will allow medical tape to be applied while lessening the possibility of the medical tape sticking to the new and improved glove design. The new and improved glove design would use a tape resistant material on the glove, allowing the medical tape to be applied easier and lowering the chance that the medical tape would stick to the new and improved glove design. The tape resistant material would preferably be applied to the just the fingertip area of each of the fingers of a typical hospital/medical glove, but alternatively, could be applied to the entire external surface of the glove.
Description
- The present invention is that of a new and improved glove design that will allow medical tape to be applied while lessening the possibility of the medical tape sticking to the new and improved glove design.
- U.S. Pat. No. 5,794,266, issued to Han, discloses a glove made with thin latex or rubber material which is suitable for carrying out medical or other delicate procedures while maintaining comfort by creating air pockets inside the glove.
- U.S. Pat. No. 4,658,444, issued to Figlia, discloses an improved surgical glove which contains a smooth latex skin coated onto the front surface of the glove so that surgical tape will not stick thereto.
- The present invention is that of a new and improved glove design for a medical glove that will allow medical tape to be applied while lessening the possibility of the medical tape sticking to the new and improved glove design. The new and improved glove design would use a tape resistant material on the glove, allowing the medical tape to be applied easier and lowering the chance that the medical tape would stick to the new and improved glove design. The tape resistant material would preferably be applied to the just the fingertip area of each of the fingers of a typical hospital/medical glove, but alternatively, could be applied to the entire external surface of the glove.
- There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of a glove design for a medical glove in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are, of course, additional features of the glove design for a medical glove that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
- In this respect, before explaining at least one embodiment of the glove design for a medical glove in detail, it is to be understood that the glove design for a medical glove is not limited in its application to the details of construction and to the arrangements of the components set forth in the following description or illustrated in the drawings. The glove design for a medical glove is capable of other embodiments and being practiced and carried out in various ways. Also, it is to be understood that the phraseology and terminology employed herein are for the purpose of descriptions and should not be regarded as limiting.
- As such, those skilled in the art will appreciate that the conception, upon which this disclosure is based, may readily be utilized as a basis for the designing of other structures, methods and systems for carrying out the several purposes of the present glove design for a medical glove. It is important, therefore, that the claims be regard as including such equivalent constructions insofar as they do not depart from the spirit and scope of the present invention.
- It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a glove design for a medical glove which has all of the advantages of the prior art and none of the disadvantages.
- It is another object of the present invention to provide a glove design for a medical glove which may be easily and efficiently manufactured and marketed.
- It is another object of the present invention to provide a glove design for a medical glove which is of durable and reliable construction.
- It is yet another object of the present invention to provide a glove design for a medical glove which is economically affordable and available for the buying public.
- Other objects, features and advantages of the present invention will become more readily apparent from the following detailed description of the preferred embodiment when considered with the attached drawings and appended claims.
- FIG. 1 shows a perspective view of the preferred embodiment of the present invention.
- FIG. 2 shows a perspective view of an alternative embodiment of the present invention.
- Referring now to FIG. 1, a perspective view of the preferred embodiment of the present invention is shown. As can be seen,
glove 2 is shown. Glove 2 can be fabricated from latex or other suitable material used for medical uses.Glove 2 has a thumb 4, index finger 6, middle finger 8,ring finger 10, andpinky finger 12. - Each of the four fingers and thumb in
glove 2 have an end-mounted length of taperesistant material 14 attached. Each length of taperesistant material 14 is approximately one to one and one-half inches in length. The presence of the taperesistant material 14 would allow a user to useglove 2 more efficiently, because taperesistant material 14 would cause less medical tape, while being applied to a patient, to actually stick toglove 2. - FIG. 2 shows a perspective view of an alternative embodiment of the present invention. In this embodiment,
glove 2 is completely covered by taperesistant material 14. This embodiment may be more preferred for hospital and medical workers who regularly need to use medical tape. - The present invention could come in additional alternative embodiments in addition to the two embodiments already shown. The additional alternative embodiments would likely include amounts of tape
resistant material 14 in an amount in between that of FIG. 1 and FIG. 2.
Claims (3)
1. A glove for medical use comprising:
(a) an inner layer having a thumb portion and four finger portions, the four finger portions comprising an index finger, a middle finger, a ring finger, and a pinky finger, the thumb portion having two ends, a first end and a second end, the second end of the thumb portion connected to the glove, the index finger having two ends, a first end and a second end, the second end of the index finger connected to the glove, the middle finger having two ends, a first end and a second end, the second end of the middle finger connected to the glove, the ring finger having two ends, a first end and a second end, the second end of the ring finger connected to the glove, the pinky finger having two ends, a first end and a second end, the second end of the pinky finger connected to the glove, the inner layer being fabricated preferably from latex, the inner layer having an outer surface, and
(b) an outer layer fabricated from a material that would resist attachment of medical tape or other sticky surfaces, the outer layer covering a portion of the outer surface of the inner layer of the glove.
2. A glove for medical use according to wherein the outer layer fabricated from a material that would resist attachment of medical tape or other sticky surfaces would cover the entire outer surface of the inner layer of the glove.

A glove for medical use according to wherein the outer layer fabricated from a material that would resist attachment of medical tape or other sticky surfaces would cover approximately a one inch and two inch length at the first end of the thumb portion, further wherein the outer layer would cover approximately a one inch and two inch length at the first end of the index finger, further wherein the outer layer would cover approximately a one inch and two inch length at the first end of the middle finger, further wherein the outer layer would cover approximately a one inch and two inch length at the first end of the ring inger, and further wherein the outer layer would cover approximately a one inch and two inch length at the first end of the pinky finger.
